FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKHappy 23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time! I want to say thank you again to our Parish Fellowship Committee for another great fellowship event this last Saturday, Aug27! It was great seeing everyone interact with each other and enjoy a beautiful eveningoutside. Kind of felt like a old fashioned block party. I am grateful for all who madethe night possible and look forward to more events in the future. These events werecreated simply to bring us together as a parish family. We all have different schedulesand Mass times, but these events once a quarter provide us with the opportunity to interact with each other and build friendships within our Parish. They help promote ourfamily identity as a Parish.Below see a note on Candlelight Adoration and a reflection on Labor Day. TheBeauty of Labor Day, from a Christian perspective, is that it reminds us that we need toneed to keep a good tension between work and rest. Both work and rest were given tous to God for our good, but sometimes we tend to prompt one or the other up. We tendto work too much or work too little. Or vice versa, we tend to rest too much or not restenough.Labor Day reminds us then that we are human beings need to rest on Sundaysand other holidays to rest and take time to Worship God more fully at Mass and Prayeras a family. Labor Day also can serve as reminder that work can a great good. Godgave us work at the beginning of creation so we could participation in his creation andhelp guide our gifts. Work done right then allows us to glorify God because throughwork we can help us discover our potential, learn more about ourselves, and allows usoffer God a gift back for all that the Lord has done for us.Finally, since the First Sunday of this month falls on Labor Weekend, Candlelight Adoration will be September 11 this month. Adoration of the Blessed Sacramentwill begin at 7pm with confessions available from 7:15-8pm. Adoration will concluderoughly at 8pm. I encourage to take advantage of this opportunity to spend quietprayerful time with the Lord Jesus and experience His peace that the world cannotgive. You can stop by for the full hour or just come for a few minutes.God Bless,Fr. MarkFr. Mark’s Military Guard Duty Schedule: September 17 & 18; October 15 & 16
