From Servant of God Isaac Hecker“The age is superficial; it needs the gift ofWisdom, which enables the soul to contemplatetruth in its ultimate causes. The age ismaterialistic; it needs the gift of Intelligence, bythe light of which the intellect perpetuates intothe essence of things. The age is captivated by afalse and one-sided science; it needs the gift ofScience, by the light of which is seen each orderof truth in its true relations to other ordersand in a divine unity. The age is in disorderand is ignorant of the way to true progress;it needs the gift of Counsel, which teacheshow to choose the proper means to attain anobject. The age is impious; it needs the gift ofPiety, which leads the soul to look up to Godas the Heavenly Father, and to adore Him withfeelings of filial affection and love. The age issensual ; it needs the gift of Fortitude, whichimparts to the will the strength to endure thegreatest burdens, and to prosecute the greatestenterprises with ease and heroism. The agehas lost and almost forgotten God; it needs thegift of Fear, to bring the soul again to God, andmake it feel conscious of its responsibility andof its destiny.”Day OneSpend some quite time in prayer asking for the graceto be attentive to the Holy Spirit and invite the gifts ofthe Spirit into your life.
