It accurately locates intrusionseven when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions orin the presence of non-localized environmental noise thatwould overwhelm the location capability of otherlong-range fiber optic sensors. The full length of thecable is continuously analyzed and disturbances atdifferent locations are reported independently. The FP1150’s fiber optic sensor technology requires nopowered or conductive items in the field, making thesensor completely immune to EMI and lightning andintrinsically safe in the presence of explosiveatmospheres. Its resilient reflectometry-based design using coherentRayleigh scattering allows detection to continue right upto the point of a cut in the sensor cable. Software-configurable detection zones No outdoor power or communicationinfrastructure required EMI and lightning immuneDETECTION SETTINGSThe FP1150 uses sophisticated algorithms to discriminatebetween real threats and vibrations from incidentalsources. Detection algorithms incorporate disturbancemagnitude thresholds, spatial parameters, and timingparameters. Its advanced software allows detectionsettings to be independently optimized for fence,wall-top, and buried sections of a perimeter. Algorithmsare easy to configure, enabling facility personnel tooptimize the system for site-specific conditions. No electronics or grounding points required inthe field Accurate locating for directing surveillancecameras and/or response forces Field components intrinsically safe Alarms reported by zone number, cabledistance and/or GPS coordinates Multiple options for integration with SMS, VMSand PSIM platforms Easy to install and maintain Per-meter licensing Possible to use sensor cable with fire ratingssuch as LSZH, fire retardant, and fire resistant

FiberPatrol FP1150senstar.comCUT IMMUNITYFENCE APPLICATIONSWALL-TOP APPLICATIONSWhen the sensor cable is cut, either accidentally or in anattempt to defeat the sensor, the FP1150 immediatelyreports the incident, including its exact location. Moreover, the sensor retains the ability to detect andlocalize intrusions up to the point of the cut. Wheninstalled in the cut-immune configuration, the sensorcontinues to provide detection on the full perimeter evenafter a cable cut. The maximum perimeter length in thecut-immune configuration is 40 km (24.8 mi).The FiberPatrol FP1150 can be used on most types ofmetallic fences including chain-link, welded mesh andexpanded metal. A single pass of sensor cable provideseffective protection for fences up to 4.3 m (14 ft) in height. The sensor may also be used on palisade-style fencesdepending on the specific characteristics of the fence. The sensor cable can be mounted on swinging gates toprovide gate protection. For walled perimeters the FP1150 sensor cable ismounted at the top corners of the wall using Senstar’scustom extended P-clip fastener. Any impact to thesensor cable by an intruder’s hands, feet, or climbing aidwill be detected by the system. For highest security thesensor cable can be installed on both the inner and outersides of the wall.POINT DISTURBANCE DISCRIMINATIONFP1150 differentiates between point disturbances causedby real intrusions and spatially distributed environmentaldisturbances like wind, heavy rain, and hail. Unlike ablock sensor, where all events are aggregated togetheralong the entire zone length (including ones caused bydistributed environmental conditions), FP1150 divides theperimeter protected into logical cells and intrusionsignals are evaluated independently for each cell.ENVIRONMENTAL COMPENSATION ALGORITHMFP1150’s Environmental Compensation algorithm furthermitigates the effects of wind, heavy rain, and hail. Usingits precision locating capability, FiberPatrol accounts forthe background environmental noise level in the vicinityof a disturbance before declaring an alarm. The FP1150 provides separate detection settings forfence climb and fence cut.For planning purposes, it is recommended to budget20% sensor cable over the fence length for use in serviceloops, extra coverage at brace and corner posts, gateareas, and zone isolation loops.FIBERPATROL FP1150 PERIMETER INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEMFiberPatrolSensor UnitSecurity System(VMS/SMS/PSIM)NMSENSOR CABLESThe FP1150 uses single-mode fiber within standardtelecommunications-grade cable. The sensing functionrequires one fiber–additional fibers within the cable canbe used for other communications purposes like Ethernetand/or Senstar’s proprietary Silver Network protocol (forcommunication with other Senstar sensors like theSenstar LM100 hybrid perimeter intrusion detection andintelligent lighting system, OmniTrax buried cablesensor, UltraWave microwave, or XField electrostaticsensors).NetworkManagerFence-mounted fiber optic sensor cablewith software-defined zonesFor standard fence-detection applications non-armoredcable is recommended. For buried perimeter applicationor for installation on concertina coils single-armor doublejacket cable construction is recommended.FiberPatrol FP1150 Precision locating fiber sensor for fence, wall-top and buried perimeter applicationsFence protection site configuration

FiberPatrol FP1150senstar.comTBURIED APPLICATIONSWhen an intruder moves across the ground above a buriedfiber optic sensor cable, whether walking, running, orcrawling, characteristic vibrations are created. The systemdistinguishes these from background vibrations, and theFP1150 declares an alarm. The FP1150 not only detects soil compression anddisplacement in the vicinity of the buried sensor cable butalso the minute seismic waves induced by humanfootsteps. The high sensitivity of the FP1150 providesflexibility in the burial depth of the sensor cable, enablingthe system to not only detect footsteps directly above thesensor cable, but also those up to several meters away.VEHICLE DETECTION AND OPTIONAL REJECTIONThe FP1150 is capable of detecting vehicles in the vicinityof the sensor cable due to the vibrations created by theirmotion or by the engine. In the case of a road parallel tothe protected asset the FP1150 can be configured to rejectnormal vehicle traffic and only raise an alarm if a vehicledrops below a configurable speed setting or stopsaltogether.DIGGING AND TUNNELING DETECTIONThe FP1150 detects hand and machine digging andtunneling at distances of up to 20 m (66 ft) from the sensorcable in any direction. The sensor cable can be positionedseveral meters underground if necessary to extendcoverage down to the required depth. Activities inside anexisting tunnel such as movement of people, equipment, and vehicles can also be detected.BURIED DETECTION - INSTALLATIONRECOMMENDATIONSEnd moduleFor detection of above ground activity the sensor cable isrecommended to be direct-buried at a depth between 15to 70 cm (6 to 28 in). For detection of tunneling a burialdepth of at least 2 m (6.5 ft) is recommended to minimizethe response to incidental sources of vibration. Due to thepotential for nuisance alarms from incidental vibrations, thebest performance for buried applications is achieved whenthe sensor cable is installed 6 m (20 ft) or more away fromtrees, fences, and posts, and 30 m (100 ft) or more fromroadways.BURIED DETECTION - TYPICAL DETECTION RANGESTypical detection ranges are shown in the table below. It isimportant to note that actual performance will depend onspecific site conditions and can increase or decreaseconsiderably from these typical values. Factors that canaffect achievable detection ranges include: Nearby incidental sources of vibration Burial medium type (clay, gravel, sand, etc.), moisturecontent, and compaction level Presence of distinct layers within the burial mediumEnd moduleIndependent sensor configuration Amount of vegetationTypical detection ranges can vary from location to locationat a given site and can vary over time depending on themoisture content and the depth of frost penetration.INTRUSION TYPETYPICAL DISTANCE FROMCABLE FOR DETECTIONHuman - Normal Walking1 to 5 m (3 to 16 ft)Human - Running5 to 10 m (16 to 33 ft)Human - Crawling Slowly1 m (3 ft)Light Vehicle - Moving3 to 10 m (10 to 33 ft)Heavy Vehicle - Moving10 to 20 m (33 to 66 ft)Heavy Vehicle - Engine Running5 to 10 m (16 to 33 ft)Manual Digging (pickaxe)10 to 20 m (33 to 66 ft)Tunnel Digging20 m (66 ft)FiberPatrol FP1150 Precision locating fiber sensor for fence, wall-top and buried perimeter applicationsCut-immune configuration
