We place a strong emphasison service user outcomes, which are measured via ourcomprehensive range of outcome tools.Our models allow us to define step-by-step objectives thatcover all areas of an individual’s psychological and behaviouralrehabilitation. The key areas of our care models are: Assessment,Treatment and Intervention, Consolidation and Discharge.3 Neuropsychiatric ServicesOur dedicated clinical teams provide interdisciplinary inputincluding occupational therapy, psychiatry, psychology,physiotherapy, and speech and language therapy.We never underestimate the importance of family involvementin the care of our service users. Families provide valuableinsight into an individual’s character, choices and ambitions.Where appropriate, our interdisciplinary team will work closelywith relatives in order to help their loved ones make a positivedifference within their lives. In addition, we recognise that nofamily is ever prepared and ready to deal with the results ofbrain injury. It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well asoffering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease,like Huntington’s Disease, a caring and longer term placement tosupport and help manage the progression of their symptoms.This service will be able to accept unplanned, often urgentadmissions where a service user requires a safe place to starttreatment at the earliest possible time as well as plannedadmissions. Our person centred approach puts the individualat the centre of their treatment and discharge planning. Theservice offers a wide range of activities and facilities to promoteindependent function. The community-facing elementof the service is key in supporting and promoting positiverisk taking.Cygnet Grange has a small, consistent staff team, with highstaff to service user ratios. This service willbe able to accept unplanned, often urgent admissions where aservice user requires a safe place to start treatment at the earliestpossible time as well as planned admissions.Established in 2012, Cygnet Lodge was our first neuropsychiatricservice. Located nearby our sister service, Cygnet Grange inSutton-in-Ashfield, Cygnet Lodge is a community-facing servicewith strong links and easy access to local amenities, as well asbeing within 10 miles of three national parks.The layout and environment of Cygnet Lodge means that theinterdisciplinary team is fully integrated in the day to day activitiesof the service, and we are able to work with individuals whomay have slightly higher dependency needs. Three of the eightbedrooms are on the ground floor, meaning that Cygnet Lodgeis also able to accommodate individuals who may be less mobile.Our homely environment aims to reduce risk, improve quality oflife and to support service users to maximise their independence.The community-facing element of the service is key in supportingand promoting positive risk taking.Our ethos and physical environment are informed by a TotalCommunication Environment approach. Zoned colour ways,advanced picture navigation systems, contrast furnitureand other visual cues are used to provide predictability andconsistency and reduce confusion for our service users.We are also able to support admissions for assessment; with aproposed length of stay of 3-6 months, we can work with serviceusers and their teams to determine the individual’s needs andidentify a suitable care pathway.Educational and vocational support is key to service users’recovery, and programmes are tailor-made for individuals,drawing on a variety of external resources.14 Neuropsychiatric Services*data relates to period Jan 2021 - Dec 2021Our service user centred approach puts the individual at thecentre of their own discharge planning.
