BTS80 EMBTECHNICAL DETAILSSPECIFICATIONSBTS80 EMB SERIES FLOOR-CONCEALED CLOSER—Aesthetically Pleasing FloorCloser with ElectromagneticHydraulic Hold Open for Fire/LifeSafety, Remote Release &Control, or Tempered Glass DoorApplications.The BTS80 EMB Series of floorconcealed door closers providesan electromagnetic hydraulichold open feature, allowing doorsto self-close upon the interruptionof electrical current, yet remainfunctional in noncriticalsituations.The BTS80 EMB includes aselective type hold open with arange of approximately 65 to175 . This closer is an idealsolution in applications wheresurface applied life safetyproducts cannot be installed orare objectionable due toaesthetics.The BTS80 EMB is specificallydesigned to be used in fire/lifesafety applications where thehold open is electricallycontrolled by a fire alarmcontact. The closer is typicallyplaced into the hold openposition until a fire alarmcondition.When installed in conjunctionwith a maintained control switch,the BTS80 EMB can be used asa hold open/privacy function.The switch controls the power on(hold open) or off (privacy) to thecloser, giving two functionalcharacteristics to an application—in a classroom, for example.Use the hold open feature duringsetup of the room or asoccupants enter and exitbetween sessions. Use theprivacy feature during class.Power is out when using theprivacy feature, preventing doorsfrom being accidentally caughtin the hold open position asoccupants exit and re-enter.In an office setting, the BTS80EMB can be used to maintainthe hold open position of a dooruntil interrupted by a momentaryswitch located near or on theoccupant's desk when privacy isdesired.
