WHAT IS MIDDLE COLLEGE OF FORSYTH? MCF is a partnership betweenWinston-Salem Forsyth CountySchools and Forsyth TechnicalCommunity College. Students graduate with a highschool diploma from MCF and,in the process, obtain many FTcollege credits (free of charge). Some MCF students cangraduate with an Associate’sDegree within the 2-yeartimeframe.

SCHOOL INFORMATION Grades 11-12 85 students Mascot: Phoenix Colors: Maroon & Orange Students take both HS andcollege classes at the sametime. Goal is to earn HS diplomawith as many college credits(free of charge) as possibleduring that time.

RECOGNITIONS Middle College of Forsyth wasnamed one of the Best HighSchools in the country by USNews & World Report in 2019. Middle College of Forsyth hasreceived a grade of “A” everyyear on the North CarolinaSchool Report Card.

MCF LOCATION Located on FT Main Campus (2100 Silas Creek Parkway) Snyder Hall Students take most high school courses in this building. Some highschool courses may be in Ardmore Hall. College courses taken all over campus.

C ALENDAR AND HOURS Hybrid of two calendars: WSFCS and FT First day of school for high school classes is Monday, August 9. First day of school for college classes is Monday, August 16. Final day for students (tentative) is May 24. MCF follows FT calendar for holidays/breaks. MCF will have school on some days that WSFCS is not in session and vice-versa. Refer to chart in Student Handbook (distributed on 1st week of school). School hours: 10:30-3:15 (Monday-Friday) Office Hours 8:00-4:00 Building opens at 8:00 AM each day. Students should be off campus by 5:00 PM each day. (3:30 on Fridays)

TRANSPORTATION Magnet Bus Transportation WSFCS will pick up and drop off at designated elementaryschools in the district. Only operates when WSFCS is in session. Drops off around 9:00 AM and picks up at 3:30 PM here at MCF. Car Riders Can be dropped off as early as 8:00 AM. Wait in Lobby of Snyder Hall until time for class.

LUNCH All students have lunch 11:50 AM-12:30 PM. Students may eat in The Grill, outside in approved locations, StudentLounge in Technology Building, or in Snyder Hall. Students may bring lunch or purchase food in the Grill or from vendingmachines, or choose the free lunch provided by WSFCS for all studentsthis year. Limited number of microwave ovens available in the Grill and Snyder Hall. The Grill doesn’t open until August 16. WSFCS is also providing free breakfast to all students this year.

We do not have sports;however, students are eligibleto attend MCF and participatein sports at their residentialhigh school.

COMMUNIC ATION WITH PARENTS High School Communication (MCF): Students and parents are expected to monitor grades via PowerSchool. Paper copies of progress reports will be sent home to parents mid-quarter ONLY if a studenthas a D/F average at that time. Report cards will be sent home quarterly. Students MUST check both their WSFCS & FT email accounts DAILY!!!

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY/SUPPLIES All students will be issued a Chromebook by the school next week. Students will take the CB to and from school daily. Paperwork for the CB will be distributed to students early next week. It will require aparent/guardian signature. Students will receive a padded, protective case for the CB. Students will use the same CB for duration of high school years. Students are allowed to bring their own laptop/CB from home, if preferred. Teachers will share with students any specific school supplies needed for their classes.Please reach out to the Main Office if you need assistance with school supplies.

COVID INFORMATION WSFCS Board of Education voted last week that all students and staffare required to wear masks to school for the 1st Quarter. Forsyth Tech has also made the decision to require all students and staffto wear masks on campus. Currently, there are no social distancing guidelines in place (i.e., 6-feet,3-feet). Please make sure you are wearing your mask properly when you are atschool (covering the nose and mouth). As always, practice good hygiene to help prevent the spread of germs(hand washing, etc.) Currently, there are no COVID screenings upon entry into the building. Forsyth Tech has three formats for their classes: In-person Synchronous Online (students will login at a specific time for the class with alive instructor) Asynchronous Online (students will login on their own time and complete allassignments by a designated due date. MCF high school classes are all in-person.
