Forsyth Tech OfferingsForsyth Technical Community College and other community colleges in North Carolina offer two-year college transfer programs, twoyear associate in applied science degree programs, one-year diploma programs, and certificate programs. Some courses you take in highschool can exempt you from required courses in these programs.Certificate programs typically take less than one year and concentrate on advanced job skills required by an industry.Diploma programs take one year and are offered in a wide range of subject areas. They are designed to prepare you for employment.Associate in applied science degrees usually take two years (including the summer between) and prepare you for employment in technical areas.Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree programs also are available at Forsyth Tech.College transfer programs give you the opportunity to complete your first two years of college at FTCC and then transfer to one of thecampuses of the University of North Carolina or to a private college. You can earn an associate in arts or associate in science degree.The following list includes all of the programs at Forsyth Technical Community College. For Early Childhood it is a scale score of 80 on theVOCATS. taken the College Placement Test (CPT) in reading, writing and mathand obtained scores that place the student into college-level work. Studentswho have an ACT composite score of 21 or SAT scores of 480 in criticalreading and 500 in math are exempt from taking the CPT test and will beawarded credit. enrolled at Forsyth Tech within 24 months of graduation from highschool.Credit awarded by articulation is based upon the articulation agreementthat was in effect at the time that the student completed the high schoolcourse. Any issues regarding the nature and equivalency of course contentwill be referred to the appropriate Forsyth Tech division dean before a finaldecision is made.The following list includes the high school courses and their articulatedcommunity college courses. Courses in italics are articulated at any community college in the state that offers that course.Forsyth Tech has an agreement with the school system that honorssome high school courses as substitutes for community collegecourses. These courses are considered equivalent and are called “articulated courses.”Articulation agreements between Forsyth Tech and WS/FCSprovide a seamless academic pathway from high school into community college programs. When a student takes an articulated course,he/she is taking a high school course that results in the same learningoutcomes as a similar Forsyth Tech course. Forsyth Tech has an agreement with the school system that honors some high school courses as substitutes for community college courses. These courses are considered equivalent and are called "ar-ticulated courses." Articulation agreements between Forsyth Tech and WS/FCS provide a seamless academic pathway from high school into com-munity .
