Diversity The 2011 Census showed Badger Parish had a black and minority ethnic grouppopulation of 0. For the first time the 2011 Census showed Badger Parish had agypsy population of 0. When asked about their religion 23.8% (30 people) identified themselves ashaving no religion or did not state it on the form. The majority of people (75.4%)identified themselves as Christian and 0.8% (1 person) identified themselves ashaving an alternative religion. The 2011 Census showed that 0 people could not speak English well and 0people could not speak English at all.Car Ownership The 2011 Census showed that 5 households (8.8%) did not own a car andsubsequently are reliant on other forms of transport such as public transportservices. In total 104 cars are owned by households resident in the parish area.

HealthGeneral HealthThe 2011 Census asked three questions relating to health and the provision ofunpaid care. The questions relate to whether people felt their general health wasgood, whether they looked after or gave help or support to other family members,friends, neighbours or others and lastly whether their day to day activities werelimited because of a health problem or disability. At the time of the 2011 Census 48% of people in Badger said that they felt theywere in “Very Good Health”, this compares to 46% for Shropshire as a whole. Nobody reported that they were in very bad health.Provision of Unpaid CareThe question asked “do you look after, or give any help or support to familymembers, friends, neighbours or others because of either; a long term physical ormental ill health/disability? or because of problems related to old age? At the time of the Census 13% said that they were providing 1 to 19 hours ofunpaid care a week. This is slightly higher than the Shropshire figure of 7%. Nobody identified themselves as providing 20 to 49 hours of care. 6% said they provided over 50 hours of unpaid care. This is slightly higherthan the figure for Shropshire as a whole (2%) and England & Wales (2%).Long Term Illness or DisabilityThe Census asked “Are your day-to-day activities limited a lot due to a healthproblem or disability which has lasted, or is expected to last, at least 12 months? 6% said that their day-to-day activities were limited a lot due to a healthproblem or disability. This is less than the County figure of 8%. The percentage who reported their day-to-day activities were limited a littlewas 15%. This is slightly higher than the figure of 10% for Shropshire as awhole.

The parish had 126 usual residents and covers an area of 374 hectares. 21 households were owner occupiers (owned outright) equating to 36.8% ofall households. There were 13 households (22.8%) who owned their homewith a mortgage or loan. There were 14 households (24.6% of all households) that privately rentedtheir home from a landlord. There was also 1 household (1.8% of allhouseholds) who privately rented from a landlord classified as ‘Other’. 3 households were renting social housing from the Council totalling 5.3% ofall households. There were also 3 households (5.3%) renting social housingfrom ‘Other’ sources. In Badger there were 27 detached dwellings representing 46.6% of alldwellings. There were also 21 semi-detached and 7 terraced dwellingsequating to 36.2% and 12.1% respectively. 19.3% of all households were one person pensioner households. 22.8% of households in the area had dependent children. The number ofmarried couple households with dependent children was 9 and the number ofcohabiting couples with dependent children was 0. There were 2 lone parent households (with dependent children), whichequates to 3.5% of all households.
