Theenrollment is 4884.In 2002, SCSU introduced a B.S.program in Nuclear Engineering (jointlywith the University of Wisconsin atMadison) and currently SCSU is the onlyHBCU to offer a B.S. degree in NuclearEngineering.

South Carolina State UniversityIn January 2005, there was atotal of seven (7) students inthe Nuclear EngineeringProgram at SCSU. Three (3)students were completingcourse work at the Universityof Wisconsin. Of the four (4)students remaining at theSCSU campus, one eventuallyleft the program.
