Alone these words have their ownmeanings, put them together and you’ve got the engineering design process. The engineering design process is at the heart of every technology we useevery day. STEAMOutReach, a team of dedicated science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics educators and advocates, are joining usthis year to bring an immersive technology experience to our campers.Do you like to tinker, play games, solve a community challenge throughtechnology? Have you ever wanted to create your own app? Do you everwonder what all that math you’re learning is actually used for in the realworld? STEAMOutReach will be leading an exciting eight-week adventure intoall things math, science AND arts related. We’ll be exploring the mysteries ofcomputer coding and even trying to develop our very own apps; buildingbridges and model cities out of recycled materials; and learning about theimportance of clean water to our well-being!Campers will be introduced to engineering basics and work together in teamsto develop a solution to an environmental engineering challenge. We willlearn about storm water runoff, and explore what technologies and methodsare used to reduce polluted runoff. Teams of campers will collaborate todesign ways to reduce storm water runoff in a city model. By the end of thesummer, campers will be ready to present what they learned about designingurban landscapes by sharing their engineering work and apps in anEngineering Showcase. You choose how many weeks and when to start. Sign up for all eight!Week One: Engineering Design Process: Technology at WorkWeek Two: Start (YOU) Up: Learning Coding BasicsWeek Three: What’s App?
