FeatureComparisonLicensing considerationsVeeam Universal License (VUL) When combining VUL with a legacy socket-based license in a merged and centrally managedenvironment, the socket edition and support level always takes precedence and dictates the featureedition level of the entire environment. Example: Combing a Standard legacy socket license with VUL will limit certain feature capabilitieslike the Scale-out Backup Repository. If a feature isn’t available across any socket license, like cloud virtual machine (VM) protection forexample, it will be available when a VUL is merged with socket licenses. When in the presence of a socket-based license, all VMware vSphere and Hyper-V VMs, must beprotected with that socket license. VMs on hypervisor hosts that are licensed with a socket license can now be protected with any Veeamproduct without needing an additional instance license, so long as the protection is managed by thesame backup server.
