Article No. S18505PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONTECHNICAL DATAFRANK-PTI’s horizontal tensile tester is one of theleading products of its kind. Its ergonomic designwith touchscreen simplifies operation and reducesthe testing time. The robust and reinforcedconstruction helps to avoid falsifying influenceslike vibrations etc. This makes the results reliableeven if measurements are repeated or donesimultaneously. These optional features areavailable: tub for strength measurements with wetsamples and a calibration device for performingself-tests of the load cell.DEVICE / INSTRUMENTTEST DESCRIPTIONThe measurement starts immediately because ofthe preinstalled measurement programs. Select atest method and insert the sample support into theautomatic sample clamps. Now the tester checksall the various sample parameters and determineswhether the sample is an MD or CD strip. Thetester identifies the test strip automatically whenthe sample is inserted. It starts the tensile test andcompletes it when the sample breaks. The sampleclamps return to their initial position. Themeasurement results are displayed on thetouchscreen. Another practical feature is: If youdid various tests in MD and CD, you can comparethe results in the statistics and display the ratios. Itis possible to delete single measurements fromthe statistics.Automatic and pneumaticclamping of the samplesafter the device detectsthat the sample has beeninserted.Clamping time can alsobe adapted individually.Manual clamping alsopossible. WET TENSILE TESTSAMPLE PREPARATIONFor the wet tensile test acc. to DIN EN ISO 126255 samples with a width of 50 mm 0.5 mm andlonger than 15 cm are used to enable detection bythe sample sensor. It is important to ensure thatthe cut edges are undamaged, straight, smoothand parallel. The test strips are created using thedouble blade sample cutter. To guarantee errorfree test results, the sample should only betouched outside the test area.TEST DESCRIPTIONThe test strip must not be touched in the test areaThe program for wet tensile testing is selectedfrom the touch screen and the correspondingparameters are automatically set. Before the testbegins, the immersion container for the wet tensiletest is filled with water to the lowest wire holderand placed between the test clamps. Then the teststrip is placed in the test area. The sensors detectthe sample, the clamps close and the test beginsautomatically. The test clamps move towards eachother and the test strip sinks into the immersioncontainer where the predetermined breaking pointsinks into the water. It is held there for 15 secondsbefore the test clamps move apart again. This liftsthe sample out of the water and stretches it till itbreaks across the entire width of the strip. The testclamps move back to the start position and releasethe sample. The sample dips into the water at the predetermined breakingpointThe test results are displayed on the touch screenwith the individual measurements displayednumerically and additionally presented as a curvein real time. The test can be carried out with further test stripsand the test results are recorded. If a comparisonof two test series (e.g. MD and CD) is desired, thetensile tester offers the option of selecting the teststrips of one of the two test series and the unitautomatically calculates the relationship ofindividual results. The Sample is lifted out of the water and tears

Article No. S18505DRY TENSILE TESTTEST DESRIPTIONFor the dry tensile test acc. to DIN ISO 1924-3,samples with a width of 15 mm 0.1 mm andlonger than 15 cm are used. It is important toensure that the long edges of the test strip arestraight and do not deviate from the parallel bymore than 0.1 mm. This requirement can besatisfied by creating the test strips with the strippunch or strip cutters. The program for dry tensile testing is selected fromthe touch screen and the correspondingparameters are automatically set. The test strip isplaced in the test area. It is important to ensure thesample is only touched outside the test area, toguarantee error-free test results.Insert a sample of width 15mmOn insertion, the sensors detect the sample, clamp it securely and the test beginsautomatically. The test clamps move apart andstretch the test strip to such an extent that itbreaks. Then the test clamps move back to thestart position and release the sample. At the sametime the individual measurements are displayednumerically and additionally presented as a curvein real time. The test can be carried out with furthertest strips and the test results are recorded. If a comparison of two test series (e.g. MD andCD) is desired, the tensile tester offers the optionof selecting the test strips of one of the two testseries and the unit automatically calculates therelationship of individual results. The sample is stretched until it breaksOPTIONAL:CALIBRATION TOOLTo guarantee accurate measurements it isrecommended that the load cell is checkedregularly. The optional calibration tool is used forthis task. The calibration tool is placed on the test clamp andweights are added. The force values displayed onthe touch screen are then compared with thevalues on the weights. It is simple, following thisprocedure, to determine if the load cell is providingaccurate results.Machine with built-in calibration device
