See details in this edition.Christmas EditionIncorrect Score-sheet Being UsedSome teams have not completed the correct score-sheetsand have taken old score sheets from the club house whichare still used for the Senior Bocce.Unless your scores are recorded on the official score-sheet,with the Hagin’s Automotive logo, they will not beaccepted. If you have lost or run out of score-sheets thatwere handed out at the Capo’s meeting you can refer to thewebsite and download and print additional ones. Color orblack & white are acceptable.Automated External DefibrillatorI spoke with 3 ladies the other day and they were curiousabout the AED and checked it out in the clubhouse.No doubt there are many more of you who are also curiousso be resourceful and check out where it is located and alsoread the information on page 20 where you will also see alive link to an on-line video as to how it works.We have also put information on the MBF website withlinks to instructions and a demo for you all to view.Go to the Home Page and you will see the links,bottom center on the screen. Check it out, save a life.http://www.martinezboccefederation.org/Happy Fathers DaythNORCAL is back this year and is scheduled for August 17 .Topping off the calendar is the Knights of Columbus “VinothTournament” on September 14 .Get your teams together and have a great day of bocce inthe Park.Who has not “READ the RULES” ?Yes, I covered this last month and several times before BUTevery week I hear of problems and controversies arisingfrom members simply not understanding the RULES or nothaving read the RULES. This latest example stems from aSunday match and deals with measuring.Rule X starts off with:-MEASUREMENTS: All measurements will be madefrom the inside dimension of the bocce ball to the insidedimension of the pallino. Do not touch balls.This is straightforward. 5The “Smoking”IssueThe other day I heard about aClub member beinginconvenienced by a smokerwho was playing on theiropponents’ team. Theypolitely mentioned thatsmoking was not permitted inthe bocce court area and infact not permitted “By Code”in the park itself.The response from thesmoker was that “Yes, I know,but everyone ignores it”.area where smoking ispermitted.See the Code for the ParkRegion.It’s not the person asking youto stop who is the problem sowhy should they feel guiltyand embarrassed to ask youto simply comply with theregulations existing in thePark area. The problem lieswith the smoker for notcomplying with the rules andfor not being considerate totheir fellow club members.The next time this occurs andthe smoker continues tosmoke, maybe the personasking for the smoker to stopwill not be so subdued andcall the police. This will resultin ANY person caught in thebocce area, who is seen to besmoking, to be cited.The person being affected bythe smoke did not pursue itfurther as they did not wantto cause any friction with theteam they were playing, sothe smoker just continuedsmoking and they had to putup with the situation.When you are asked to stopsmoking, especially if it iscausing other peoplediscomfort, please refrainfrom doing so or move to anpermitted, please comply andmake it a fun night for allconcerned.If this was in a cinema,supermarket, restaurant,theater, public transport, youwould be TOLD to stop and ifnot, shown the door or citedand fined.Think of your fellow clubmembers and put them atease by refraining fromsmoking.The Board discussed theproblem and you will see inthe June Minutes as follows:-Surely, as a matter ofcourtesy, if you are asked tostop, as smoking is notHappy Fathers Day SMOKING: There is nosmoking allowed in theWaterfront Park, includingthe bocce courts. 7A Message from ourScorekeeperWe have nearly completed one third of the season and there arestill basic mistakes being made.No team has yet been penalized for these errors but if theycontinue, it might come to that. It takes a great deal of time,even when there are no errors, to get these scores recorded.Many of the teams omit 1, 2 or even all 3 of the date, divisionand night.Also remember to “Circle” either the “RED” or the “GREEN”either side of the Game 1, 2 or 3 and that the “Match ScoreBox” adds up to the circled wins above them.Red and Green Line-up must be completed with those playersyou have on your rosters.And finally, make sure the score-sheet is signed by each team.Thank YouMBF Scorekeeper.Happy Fathers DaySunday 16th June
