Cover applies toclaims made on or after 1 July 2019. You are notcovered for claims made after termination of orthe expiry of the period of the Group Policy. When eligible, you have the benefit ofcover as a third party beneficiary by reason of thestatutory operation of Section 48 of the InsuranceContracts Act 1984 (Cth).If you are entitled to receive a benefit or makea claim under another insurance policy (OtherPolicy) (for example, a comprehensive travelinsurance policy for your overseas journey), inrespect of the same loss as your claim under thisTERMS ANDCONDITIONS6

Group Policy, then, subject to the provisions ofthe Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) Allianz isnot liable to provide indemnity under this GroupPolicy until the amount of any indemnity underthat Other Policy is exhausted. In other words, anycover under this Group Policy in respect of thesame loss shall only be excess insurance coverover and above the applicable Other Policy.If you make a claim under another insurancepolicy and you are not paid the full amount ofthe claim, then, subject to the provisions of theInsurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth), the coverprovided to you under the Group Policy willmake up the difference, to the extent of coverthat applies, in accordance with the terms andconditions contained in this booklet.We may seek contribution from your otherinsurer. You must give us any information that wereasonably require to help us make a claim fromthe other insurer.Limitation of coverNotwithstanding any other terms, we shall not bedeemed to provide coverage and we will not makeany payments nor provide any service or benefitto any person or other party to the extent that suchcover, payment, service, benefit and/or any businessor activity of the person would violate any applicabletrade or economic sanctions law or regulation.PrivacyTo offer or provide you with our products andservices (or those we may offer or provide to youon behalf of our business partners) we, namelyAWP Australia Pty Ltd ABN 52 097 227 177trading as ‘Allianz Global Assistance’, and ouragents and representatives, collect, store, use,and disclose your personal information includingsensitive information. may have provided you with a product or serviceincluding but not limited to travel insurance,roadside assistance with a vehicle purchase,Overseas Student or Visitor Health Cover, orother assistance services we arrange or provide.For example, your personal information maybe collected from your family members andtravelling companions, doctors, and hospitals ifyou purchase our travel insurance and requiremedical assistance. Likewise, we collect personalinformation from universities and your agentsif you inquire about or apply for our OverseasStudent or Visitor Health Cover. We are the ‘datacontroller’ and responsible for ensuring yourpersonal information is used and protected inaccordance with applicable laws including thePrivacy Act 1988 and sometimes European Law(the GDPR) where our activities are within itsscope. Personal information we collect includes,for example, your name, address, date of birth,email address, and sometimes your medicalinformation, passport details, bank accountdetails, as well as other information we collectthrough devices like ‘cookies’ when you visitour website such as your IP address and onlinepreferences.We use your personal information to offerand provide our products and services and tomanage your and our rights and obligations inconnection with any products and services youhave acquired. For instance, we use it to assess,process, and investigate any travel or healthinsurance claims, and to liaise with GovernmentDepartments when necessary. We may also useit for product development, marketing (wherepermitted by law or with your consent but notin connection with some products or servicessuch as credit card insurances), customer dataanalytics, research, IT systems maintenance anddevelopment, recovery against third parties, fraudinvestigations, and for other purposes with yourconsent or where permitted by law. Your personal information may be disclosed tothird parties (some of whom are data processors)who assist us to carry out the above activitiesboth inside and outside of Australia, such asclaims management providers, travel agentsand intermediaries, insurers, investigators, costcontainment providers, medical and healthservice providers, universities and other educationinstitutions, roadside assistance and towingproviders, vehicle manufacturers, overseas datastorage (including ‘cloud’ storage) and datahandling providers, legal and other professionaladvisers, your agents and broker, your travelgroup leader if you travel in a group, youremployer if you have a corporate travel policy,your bank if you are the beneficiary of the bank’scredit card insurances, insurance referencebureaux, and our related and group companiesincluding Allianz.Some of these third parties may be located inother countries including in Europe, Asia, Canada,or the USA. We also, where necessary, discloseyour personal information to GovernmentDepartments including for immigration andprivate health insurance purposes as well as toregulatory bodies.With the exception of credit card insurances andsome other products and services that we offeror provide on behalf of certain clients, we may,where permitted by law or with your consent,contact you by telephone, normal mail, email,electronic messages such as SMS, and via othermeans with promotional material and offersof products or services from us, our relatedcompanies, as well as offers from our businesspartners that we consider may be relevant andof interest to you. DefinitionsHeadings have been included for ease ofreference but do not form part of the terms andconditions of the cover provided.The following key words have particular meaningin this booklet and the Group Policy and arehighlighted in bold font. The use of defined wordsin the singular includes the plural and vice versa.accident/accidental/accidentally means anunexpected event caused by something externaland visible.account holder means a Suncorp Bankcustomer, being an individual, business entity orcompany, who has entered into a card accountwith NAB and in whose name the card accountwas opened. The account holder is the individual,business entity or company that has contractualobligations with NAB under the card account.Allianz means Allianz Australia Insurance Limited,ABN 15 000 122 850, AFSL 234708.Allianz Global Assistance means AWP AustraliaPty Ltd, ABN 52 097 227 177, AFSL 245631.ATAS means Australian Federation of TravelAgents Travel Accreditation Scheme (an industryaccreditation scheme introduced following thewinding up of the statutory Travel CompensationFund).business item means a new item acquired foruse by the business, but does not include thefollowing:— items with an original purchase price in excessof 3,000;— items acquired for the purpose of sale or trade;— items acquired to undergo process ortransformation in the business;— animals or plant life;— boats, automobiles, motorboats, motorcycles,airplanes or any other motorised vehicles andtheir integral parts and installed accessories;TERMS ANDCONDITIONS11

— cash, bullion, negotiable instruments, vouchers,gift cards, securities, trading cards, ticketsof any description, travellers cheques orcollections such as stamps, coins and cards;— computer software and other non-tangible items;— consumable or perishable items (including butnot limited to food, drink, drugs, cosmetics,fuel or oil);— items of contraband;— manuscripts and books of account;— real estate and movable fixtures or fittings(including but not limited to dish washers,stoves, ovens and fixed air conditioners) whichare or are intended to form part of any home orreal estate; or— second-hand items including works of art andantiques.card means any of the following Suncorp Bankcredit cards:— a current and valid Suncorp Bank PlatinumCard issued by NAB;— a current and valid Suncorp Bank Gold Cardissued by NAB; or— a current and valid Suncorp Bank Plus Cardissued by NAB.card account means:— a current and valid card facility provided byNAB to which purchases made by cardholderson a Suncorp Bank card are charged; or— the primary account linked to a Suncorp Bankcard to which a transaction is routed by anyelectronic funds transfer facility.cardholder means a person who has permanentresidency in Australia (including holders of a visaissued under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) whichentitles the holder of the visa to residency) towhom NAB has issued a Suncorp Bank card.chronic means a persistent and lasting condition.It may have a pattern of relapse and remission.TERMS ANDCONDITIONS12

Citi means Citigroup Pty Limited (ABN 88 004325 080), AFSL and Australian Credit Licence238098.concealed storage compartment means a boot,trunk, glove box, enclosed centre console, orconcealed cargo area of a vehicle.covered breakdown means the failure of acovered item to operate for the purpose forwhich it was designed, as a direct result of abreakdown or defect. This does not include wherethe breakdown or defect is covered by the termsof the manufacturer’s warranty.covered item means:a) business items; orb) an item acquired for personal, domestic orhousehold use but excludes:— items acquired for the purpose of sale or trade;— animals or plant life;— boats, automobiles, motorboats, motorcycles,airplanes or any other motorised vehicles andtheir integral parts and installed accessories;— computer software and other non-tangible items;— cash, bullion, negotiable instruments, vouchers,gift cards, securities, trading cards, ticketsof any description, travellers cheques orcollections such as stamps, coins and cards;— consumable or perishable items (including butnot limited to food, drink, drugs, cosmetics,fuel or oil);— manuscripts and books of account;— second-hand items including works of art andantiques;— items of contraband;— real estate and movable fixtures or fittings(including but not limited to dish washers,stoves, ovens and fixed air conditioners) whichare or are intended to form part of any home orreal estate; orTERMS ANDCONDITIONS13

— items purchased for a price of more than 10,000 per item for Purchase Cover Insuranceand 20,000 per item for Extended WarrantyInsurance.dangerous activities means you exposingyourself to danger during your journey, unlessin an attempt to preserve your life or the life ofanother person and includes but is not limited toactivities such as:— scuba diving unless you hold an open waterdiving certificate or are diving with a qualifiedand registered diving instructor;— mountaineering or rock climbing, racing(other than amateur racing on foot), whitewater rafting, boating, abseiling, parasailing,skydiving, hang-gliding, base jumping, bungyjumping, pot holing, canyoning, caving, firewalking, running with the bulls, rodeo riding,polo playing, hunting, shooting, archery,tobogganing, water skiing, jet skiing, offpiste snow skiing, off-piste snowboarding,snowmobiling or any other similar activity; or— participation in any kind of professional sport.dependant means your child, not in full-timeemployment who is aged 24 years or under at thetime that their eligibility for cover is met.epidemic/pandemic means anything defined bythe World Health Organisation to be an epidemic/pandemic or to have reached epidemic and/orpandemic status (as stated on either www.who.intor www.smarttraveller.gov.au).excess means the deduction we will make fromthe amount otherwise payable for each claimableincident or event.funeral expenses means the costs charged bya funeral director for arranging a funeral serviceand by a cemetery for a burial or a crematoriumfor a cremation. It does not include the cost ofmemorialisation or any other costs.home means the place where you normally live inAustralia.TERMS ANDCONDITIONS14

hospital means an established hospital registeredunder any legislation that applies to it, thatprovides in-patient medical care. It does notinclude any institution used primarily as a nursingor convalescent home, a place of rest, a geriatricward, a mental institution, a rehabilitation orexternal care facility or a place for the treatmentof alcoholism, drug addiction or substanceaddiction.injure or injured or injury means bodily injurycaused solely and directly by violent, accidental,visible and external means, which happens ata definite time and place during your period ofcover and does not result from any illness,sickness or disease.interstate flight means travel on a registered andscheduled commercial passenger airline from anyAustralian state or territory to another Australianstate or territory.insolvency or insolvent means bankruptcy,provisional liquidation, liquidation, appointmentof a receiver, manager or administrator, entry intoany official or unofficial scheme of arrangement,statutory protection, restructuring or compositionwith creditors, or the happening of anythingof a similar nature under the laws of anyjurisdiction.journey means travel which begins whenyou leave home or your place of business tocommence your travel and ends when you arriveback home or at a hospital or nursing home inAustralia (if you are evacuated or repatriated),whichever happens earlier.loss of as used with reference to hand or footmeans severance through or above the wrist orankle joint.manufacturer’s warranty means themanufacturer’s written warranty, properlyregistered with the manufacturer, that isapplicable and able to be fulfilled within Australia.medical adviser means a doctor, a clinicalpsychologist or a dentist, who is not you,your travelling companion or a relative or anTERMS ANDCONDITIONS15

employee of you, your travelling companion ora relative, holding the necessary certification forthe country in which they are currently practicingand qualified to give the diagnosis being provided.medical expenses means reasonable expensesincurred for:— medical, paramedical or surgical treatmentand other treatment given or prescribed by amedical adviser; or— ambulance or hospital charges; or— dental treatment arising as a result of aninjury; or— emergency dental charges up to the limitspecified in Part C – Table of benefits, Section1.2 Overseas Emergency Medical – EmergencyDental Expenses. This does not include dentaltreatment for deterioration, decay or normalwear and tear to teeth; or— expenses for your medical transfer orevacuation to the nearest hospital foremergency medical treatment or to be broughtback to your home with appropriate medicalsupervision.mental illness means any illness, conditionor disorder listed in the current edition of theDiagnostic and Statistical Manual of MentalDisorders.motorcycle means any two-wheeled or threewheeled motor vehicle.NAB means National Australia Bank Limited(ABN 12 004 044 937, AFSL and AustralianCredit Licence 230686).natural disaster means any event or force ofnature that has catastrophic consequences,such as avalanche, earthquake, flood, bush fire,hurricane, tornado, cyclone, tsunami and volcaniceruption, but not epidemics or pandemics.overseas means outside of Australia and itsterritories, except when travelling on a foreignregistered vessel in Australian territorial waters.overseas travel ticket means either:TERMS ANDCONDITIONS16

— a one way ticket to an overseas destination; or— a ticket to an overseas destination and returnto Australia.pre-existing medical condition means anycondition, including but not limited to pregnancy,mental illness, anxiety, alcoholism, drug addictionor substance addiction and/or any chronic orongoing physical, medical, mental or dentalcondition, which you or a reasonable person inyour circumstances should have been aware ofor become aware of, or for which investigation,treatment or advice has been sought or received,or medication prescribed or taken:— at any time before you obtained your overseastravel ticket for the cover provided undersection 2.1 Cancellation in International TravelInsurance;— after you obtained your overseas travelticket, but prior to the commencement of yourjourney for the cover provided under all othersections of International Travel Insurance;— at any time before you obtained yourinterstate flight ticket for the cover providedunder Interstate Flight Inconvenience Insurance;and— any complication arising from any suchcondition outlined above, except that anyunexpected or unforeseen complicationarising from your pre-existing pregnancy isnot considered to be a pre-existing medicalcondition.professional sport means training for, coachingor competing in any sporting event where you areentitled to receive, or are eligible to receive, anappearance fee, wage, salary or prize money inexcess of 1,000.public place means any place that the publichas access to, including but not limited toplanes, trains, cruise ships, taxis, buses, air orbus terminals, stations, wharves, streets, shops,museums, galleries, hotels, hotel foyers andgrounds, beaches, restaurants, private car parks,public toilets and general access areas.TERMS ANDCONDITIONS17

reasonable means:— for medical expenses, the standard level givenin the country you are in not exceeding thelevel you would normally receive in Australia;or— for other covered expenses, a level comparableto those you have booked for the rest of yourjourney.Reciprocal Health Care Agreement means anagreement between the Government of Australiaand the government of another country whereAustralian residents are provided with subsidisedessential medical treatment. (Please visitwww.dfat.gov.au for details of Reciprocal HealthCare Agreements with Australia).relative means:— spouse;— parent, parent-in-law; step parent, guardian;— grandparent;— child, grandchild, step child, foster child andward;— brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law;— daughter, daughter-in-law, son, son-in-law;— fiance, fiancee;— uncle, aunt;— half brother, half sister; or— niece, nephew.rental vehicle means a campervan/motorhomethat does not exceed 4.5 tonnes, a sedan, coupe,hatchback, station-wagon, SUV, four wheel driveor mini bus/people mover rented from a licensedmotor vehicle rental company or agency.sick or sickness means a medical condition(including a mental illness), not being an injury,the signs or symptoms of which first occur ormanifest during your period of cover.special event means a wedding, funeral, pre-paidconference, pre-paid sporting event, pre-paidconcert, pre-paid cruise or pre-paid tour whichTERMS ANDCONDITIONS18

before you left Australia you had planned toattend.sporting equipment means equipment neededand used to participate in a particular sport andwhich can be carried about with you.spouse means a partner of the cardholder who ispermanently living with the cardholder at the timethe journey or trip starts.Suncorp Bank means Suncorp-Metway LtdABN 66 010 831 722.transaction card means a debit card, credit cardor travel money card.transportation means an aircraft, vehicle, taxi,train, bus or short-haul ferry (but not a cruise ship)that is licensed or authorised to carry fare-payingpassengers.travelling companion means a person withwhom you made arrangements before thejourney began, to travel with you for at least 50%of the period of cover provided for your journey.travel services provider means any scheduledservices airline, coach operator, bus operator,shipping line or railway company, ferry, transportprovider, hotel, hostel, accommodation provider,car rental agency, travel agent, tour or cruiseoperator, travel or tour wholesaler, booking agent,conference organiser or any other provider oftravel or tourism related services, facilities oraccommodation.trip means an overseas passage by thecardholder and their spouse and/or dependantsas paying passengers on transportation.unlimited means there is no capped dollaramount.unsupervised means leaving your covered itemsor valuables:a] with a person who is not a travellingcompanion or who is not a relative; orTERMS ANDCONDITIONS19
