Class of 1969Bobby AsnasI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA in accounting.Dorthe “Toby” Astman SeldaI graduated in 1969 with a BA in elementary education and social sciences andwent on to receive an MA in reading. I retired from teaching elementary schoolin West Islip in 2003. I have been a volunteer at Sagamore Hill, TheodoreRoosevelt’s home, for more than 20 years. I wrote a children’s book, SimplySagamore. I have also been a member of the Sweet Adelines chorus andIsland Hills Chorus and barbershop quartet, Close Enough, for more than20 years. I still enjoy tennis and visits with my 13 Canadian grandchildren.Stephen AuerbachI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA in accounting.I have been married to Joanne Zentis for 39 years.Jan (Janet) Barkas YagerI graduated from Hofstra in 1969 with a BA in fine arts and went on toreceive an MA in criminal justice and a PhD in sociology. I have beenmarried to Fred Yager for 35 years. During my time at Hofstra, inMrs. Ellen Zamore’s public speaking class, we were asked to give aspeech about something we were interested in. Having become avegetarian, I researched the history of vegetarianism. That speech ledto the publication of The Vegetable Passion: A History of the VegetarianState of Mind. Since then, I have published 49 books in a range ofgenres, including nonfiction, fiction, illustrated children’s books, poetry,and specialty journals. I teach college courses in sociology and criminologyand consult in my areas of expertise.

Class of 1969Brenda Beach NickelsonI graduated in 1969 with a BS in economics and went on to receive anMS in educational technology. Since my graduation from Hofstra, my lifehas been exciting in the information technology field. I retired from IBM,traveled for a few years, and then found myself working in technologyagain. I want to pass on my knowledge to the youth of our country.My special interests include learning about other cultures through travel,discovering my genealogy and meeting my family all over the world, andcontinuing to learn all things interesting.Bruno John BischoffI graduated in 1969 with a BA in history and went on to earnthe CPCU designation. I have been married to my spouse,Pat, for 50 years.John Wesley Bongard Jr.I graduated in 1969 with a BA in biology and went on to receive an MBA in financefrom University of Utah. I retired as lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army, in November 1995.My career was primarily in health care operations – health care comptroller and healthcare senior program analyst – with my last assignment overseeing the Department ofDefense (DoD) Health Care Information Technology funding. During my military career,I had assignments at Fort Bragg, Vietnam, Fort Meade, Germany, Walter Reed ArmyMedical Center, Fort Detrick, Republic of Panama, and Health Budgets and Programsfor the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. After retiring from the military,I obtained a DoD government civilian position, working in a U.S. Army AcquisitionProgram to field the Digital Health Care Record for the Combat Soldier until retiringin April 2012. I now work with my wife of 50 years, Jayne Beverly Bongard, in operatinga travel agency, Cruise Holidays of Frederick, in Frederick, Maryland. As part of ourbusiness, my wife and I enjoy escorting groups on travel around the world. My hobbiesare traveling, model railroading, and golf.Sallymae Bordieri JacksonI graduated in 1969 with a BA in history and went on to receive an MAin library and information science. I am a retired school librarian for theDeer Park School District, where I served for 22 years. I graduated inFebruary of 1969 in the middle of a blizzard – what a day! I stillremember fondly the days of stuffing chicken wire for the spring floats.

I have been marriedto my wife, Rita, for 40 years.Noel CarrollI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA in philosophy. I went on toreceive a PhD in film studies from NYU in 1976 and a PhD in philosophy from Universityof Illinois, Chicago, in 1983. I have been married to my wife, Sally Banes, for 34 years.Laurence N. CharneyI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA. I have beenmarried for 43 years to my spouse, Ronnie. My hobbies includementoring and advising Outdoors Life World History leaders.Thomas CoxI graduated in 1969 with a BA in mathematics and went on to receive an MS in appliedmathematics and statistics, an MSW in social welfare, a BSN in nursing, an MSN in psychnursing, and a PhD in nursing.

I am partner in charge of newclient development and specialize in business management. I amone of the founding members of Elephant Eye Theatrical and producedThe Addams Family (musical) on Broadway and An American in Paris(musical) on Broadway.Diane Dee DluzniewskiI graduated in 1969 with a BA in fine arts. Following graduation, I movedto Switzerland for three years. Upon my return, I planted my roots backin NYC, where I am currently residing. I worked primarily with majorcorporations in the office products and telecommunications arena ina marketing and sales capacity. I have been retired since 2008 and stilllove to travel!Paul F. FarinellaI graduated in 1969 with a BA in biology. I went on to receive an MSin 1974 and have been married to my wife, Carolyn, for 47 years. I ama 36-year retired high school science teacher as well as a retired LTC,VSAR. I continue to be active in several organizations, serving aspresident of Hofstra’s Veterans Alumni Chapter, commander of ColonelTheodore Roosevelt MOWW Chapter of NY, and president emeritus ofBlackjacks (which is the high school equivalent of the National Society ofPershing Rifles). I have one grandson.Joel FeldmanI graduated in 1969 with a BBA in marketing. After 43 years in themarketing business, I retired from an advertising agency, whichI co-founded. I am an avid golfer and traveler. I have been marriedto my wife, Linda, for 47 years, and we have two daughters. I was oneof the first people to dorm at Hofstra; my time there was some of thebest times of my life. I now reside in Florida.

Class of 1969Jeanne FerranteI graduated from Hofstra with a BA in natural sciences and went on toreceive a PhD in mathematics from MIT. I am currently professoremerita of computer science at the University of California, San Diego.At UC San Diego, I served as Computer Science and EngineeringDepartment chair, associate dean of engineering, and associate vicechancellor for faculty equity. In retirement, I am helping develop curriculum and enjoyinglearning at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UC San Diego, became a boardmember of the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, and am working to establish a seniorliving/learning residence with a focus on intergenerational activities on campus. I havebeen married to my husband, Larry Carter, for 34 years. Hobbies include playing piano,taking art classes, biking, and hiking. We just returned from a one-month trip to NewZealand, which included walks on the Routeburn, Rakiura, Hollyford, Abel Tasman, andQueen Charlotte tracks.Richard S. FrazerI graduated in 1969 with a BBA in management and have been married tomy wife, Lynda Fox-Frazer, for 39 years. I own my own insurance brokeragefirm, Jadestone Financial Resources. I am a wine enthusiast. I am a fanand supporter of the Hofstra Lacrosse team.Robert Steven GreenwoodI graduated from Hofstra University with a BBA in education and wenton to receive an MS in guidance from LIU Post in 1971. I was a lettercarrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Valley Stream and Floral Park forseven years. I served in the U.S. Naval Reserves for two years. In 2005,I retired from the New York City Department of Education, whereI spent 20 years as a teacher and 17 years as a guidance counselor. I officiated soccerfor over 30 years and baseball for over 20 years, as well as softball and girls track.I still referee girls softball and soccer. I have been married to my wife, Laura, for52 years. We have two children, Melissa and David.Madeline Grumback-MinkoffI graduated in 1969 with a BA in elementary education and went on toreceive an MA. I have been married to my husband, Richard, for45 years. I retired from teaching in 2004. While attending Hofstra,I served as chief of the Hofstra Chronicle and belonged to GSP sorority(now DPhiE). I still love to read and travel. I also love spending time with mygrandchildren. I am currently president of the retired teachers in Bellmore.

Class of 1969Linda HendricksonI graduated in 1969 with a BA in history and went on to receive an MS inlibrary science from LIU Post, and even returned to Hofstra to take additionalgraduate courses in school administration. I retired from the FreeportSchool District in June 2017 after serving 48 years as a social studiesteacher and department chairperson. I also coached basketball for37 years and tennis for 47 years at Freeport High School.Ann HershI received two degrees from Hofstra University: a BA in 1969 and an MAin 1970. While completing an MA in speech pathology, Hofstra Universityawarded me a fellowship through the federal government. I worked inthe speech and language field for 38 years with the NYC Department ofEducation. I was in the Central District and serviced children with complexcommunication needs. Presently, I am retired and co-hosting a radio broadcastsponsored by the Town of North Hempstead. I attend cultural events and classes atvarious universities in the area. I swim regularly at the Nassau County Aquatic Center,Eisenhower Park. I enjoy a healthy lifestyle doing exercise and following a balanced foodprogram. I maintain memberships with the American Speech-Language-HearingAssociation (ASHA), Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AmericanFederation of Teachers, New York State United Teachers, and United Federation ofTeachers. I am clinically certified in speech-language pathology through ASHA and NewYork state. I am permanently certified as a teacher of the speech and hearing impaired inNew York state and New York City. I have lived in New York (Queens, Long Island, Ithaca),New Jersey, Ohio, and California.Stanley JacobsI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA. I have been marriedto my wife, Pamela, for two years. I am a rotary club member and memberof the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. I love traveling and helpingpeople with anxiety, pain, and sleeping issues (it’s all about the oil). Class of 1969Roslyn Kramer GoldmanI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA in elementary education/psychologyand went on to receive an MS in elementary education. I have been married to RichardGoldman for 49 years. My husband and I retired to Florida one year ago after spending41 years in the Baltimore, MD, area. We enjoy traveling to visit our children andgrandchildren who reside in NY and CA. I love to read, attend lectures, watch foreignfilms, play canasta and mahjong, go to the beach, and take walks/hikes. I also belong totwo local charitable women’s organizations.Paul H. LandesI graduated in 1969 with a BA in English. I still reside in Franklin Square,NY, although my wife of 41 years, Rachel Landes, and I are spendingmore time each year in Delray Beach, FL. We have three sons and onegrandchild. All are healthy, but not yet wealthy or wise! I have beenretired from New York State Supreme Court for almost two decades.I love being retired, probably more than anything else in my life.It seems that I was a Hofstra student just yesterday!Mark H. LevinsonI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA and have been married tomy wife, Shelly, for 20 years. I am a member of SAL local and ZBT fraternity.Jo B. Retired and enjoying life playing canasta and bridge!

Class of 1969Keith Gregory LoganI graduated in 1969 with a BA in political science and went on to receivea JD and MPS. I have been married to my wife, Patricia, for 45 years.While at Hofstra, I was a member of Upsilon Gamma Alpha (now TKE)fraternity. I joined the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania criminaljustice faculty in 2004 and am now a prelaw advisor for the college.I edited/authored several books, including Homeland Security & Intelligence andAn Introduction to Homeland Security, as well as numerous professional articles.I am a former federal law enforcement officer, having started my career as a specialagent with the Drug Enforcement Administration. I served with several other federalagencies, including the Agency for International Development, Department of Interior,Environmental Protection Agency, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I was aspecial assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia and the Eastern District ofVirginia. I am a former U.S. Army Reserve officer, Military Police Corps. I participated incurriculum development and received training at the Department of Homeland SecurityFederal Law Enforcement Training Center. I am also a consultant specializing in theinvestigation of whistleblower retaliation and EEO concerns.Max Marquart and Susan White MarquartWe both graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with BAs in biology.Max went on to receive a DDS from SUNY Buffalo and Susan went onto receive an MA in microbiology from SUNY Buffalo. As a marriedcouple, our hobbies include traveling, spending time with ourgrandchildren, and gardening.William G. MeloneI graduated in 1969 with a BA. My hobbies include playingclassical guitar, reading historical biographies, attendingopera performances, and collecting fine wines.Stefan MillerI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA in philosophy. I miss the days I spentat Hofstra and the friends I spent them with. However, I have been able to enjoy my life asmuch as and sometimes more than my college years.

MinottI graduated in 1969 with a BA and went on to receive an MA fromStony Brook University and an EdD from William Howard Taft University.I have been married to Terri Stoloff Minott for 50 years.Linda Nunes SchneppI graduated in 1969 with a BA in elementary education and went on to receive an MA ineducation. I am a wife, mother of two, and grandmother to three grandsons. I have beenteaching for 50 years. I have been married to my husband, George Schnepp, for 46 years,and we have lived in Bethpage for 44 years. My hobbies include golf, fishing, and gardening,and I enjoy watching my grandsons. My son, Christopher, is also a Hofstra graduate.Stephen PaluskaI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA in accounting.I went on to receive an MBA and became a CPA.Harold PanzerI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA in accounting.I have had my own corporations within the wholesale end of the homefurnishings industry (curtains, quilts, tablecloths, etc.). I also workedfor many years as a national sales manager. My wife of 46 years,Eileen Panzer, is the office manager for a surgical practice in Princeton, NJ.We are the proud grandparents of three boys and one girl, ages 2, 5, 7, and 9.Steven PasternackI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BS in physics.

Class of 1969William F. PerriI graduated in 1969 with a BBA in accounting. I have been marriedto my wife, Deborah, for five years and am a member of HFTP.Rosann PetrellaI graduated from Hofstra in 1969 with a BA in Spanish and secondaryeducation. After graduating, I became a secondary school Spanishteacher. I eventually received an MA in Spanish from Michigan StateUniversity and then an MS in accounting at University of Arkansas.I had a career as a CPA for over 30 years. Interestingly enough,before retirement, I went back into education, teaching English as asecond language. I have been married to Alfredo Gonzalez for 47 years.Richard PokressI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA and have beenmarried to my wife, Suzan, for 23 years. I worked in advertising in NY, LA,and Albuquerque. One of my accounts was the New Mexico Departmentof Tourism, where I wrote media plans to increase tourism to New Mexico.I also taught marketing and media at the University of Albuquerque.Martin R. PressI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BBA in accounting.I went on to receive a JD in 1973 from Brooklyn Law School as well asan LLM in tax in 1976 from University of Miami. I have been married tofellow Hofstra graduate Gail Silverbush Press ‘70, ‘73 for 48 years.I am an equity shareholder, Gunster Law Firm. I sit on the NovaSoutheastern University National Council, am an AIPAC donor, and donated the Martinand Gail Press Health Division Medical Library at Nova Southeastern University.Richard RomanoI graduated in 1969 with a BA in biology and went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine inDentistry from University of Pennsylvania. I have been married to my wife, Teresa, for 40years and have three beautiful daughters and one granddaughter. I am not retired, as I amjust getting into my stride as a dental specialist. Class of 1969Ronald R. RothI graduated from Hofstra in 1969 with a BA in biology and went on toreceive an MD. I am a lifetime runner and bodybuilder, bread baker,and father of three wonderful daughters, and myriad step and fosterchildren. I have been blessed with a successful medical practice inSmithtown, NY, since 1978. I’m a proud veteran of the U.S. Army,25th Infantry, 25th Medical Battalion. I’m grateful for the educationI received at Hofstra and the inspiring professors I learned with.Cheryl Beth Rothenberg ChavesI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA in elementaryeducation/fine arts. I have been happily married to my husband, HerbertHarry Chaves, for 25 years. I am now retired and living in Manhattanafter a 30 year career as an account executive in advertising, negotiatingtelevision time for NBC, Group Westinghouse, CBS, and other major mediaoutlets and networks. My time is spent enjoying world travel, Broadwaytheater, restaurants, and museums with my husband and our circle offriends. Several of my closest friends are actually my Hofstra sorority sisters!Rochelle Rudoff WindermanI graduated in 1969 with a BA in political science. Following graduation fromHofstra, I worked as a benefit authorizer for the Social Security Administrationin Rego Park, NY. In 1971, I married Jay B. Winderman, a microwave engineer,and moved to California. I earned an MS in library science at Cal StateFullerton and worked as a reference and children’s librarian at CovinaPublic Library from 1998 through 2010. I also provided copy editing services for students andfaculty members at nearby colleges. Jay and I have two children and two grandchildren.Diane Lynne SaundersI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA in sociology.I have been married to my husband, Bob Rosen, for 38 years.Harriet Schess HolzmanI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BS in educationand went on to receive an MS in special education.

Class of 1969Steven Leonard SchnellI graduated from Hofstra University in 1969 with a BA. I have been a practicingophthalmologist in Jupiter, FL, since 1981 and served as chief of staff at JupiterMedical Center from 1989 to 1990. I am the ophthalmologist for the St. Louis Cardinalsbaseball team during spring training and the minor league teams during the summer.I have been married to my wife, Lisa, for 18 years, and my hobbies include tennis,travel, and visiting art museums around the world.Jeanne Marie Shroyer ClidasI graduated in 1969 with a BA in social science and elementary education.I went on to receive an MS in elementary education, a PDAS incounselor education, and a PhD in literacy and learning. My mother,Betty Rhodes Shroyer, graduated from Hofstra in 1940. Hofstra gaveme a solid academic foundation on which to build my skills as an educator.I feel blessed to have learned so much from the professors I studied with during my timeas an undergraduate. I have taught in my own classroom, supported other teachers as anational literacy specialist, worked with book publishing companies, and taught newteachers as a professor of education. I have always been curious and became involvedwith STEM early on, using science as a way to engage children in reading and writing. Oneof my AOB sisters introduced me to my husband, Nickolas Clidas, Hofstra Class of 1970.We have been together for 51 years. After 48 years of working and enjoying the processof helping others learn, I chose to retire. I scrapbook and read, and take advantage of myretirement time. My husband and I hold Hofstra in a very special place in our hearts.Ellen S. SmileyI graduated in 1969 with a BA in speech/drama. After graduating, I beganworking for BOAC/British Airways, JFK Airport. Thirty-one years theregave me wonderful opportunities to explore the world, which I still do.In 2006, I began working at NEFCU, creating, promoting, and runninga financial literacy program and lecturing at Nassau County high schoolsand colleges. In 2013, I started my own financial literacy consulting business.George StrothmannI graduated in 1969 with a BSME and am married to my wife, Jean.I am still residing in Big Flats, NY, and retired from Corning Inc. in 1991.I sang with a professional choral group, “Common Time,” for 30 years.Presently, I teach the nearly lost art of chair caning. Having a degreefrom a prestigious school as Hofstra was rewarding.

Class of 1969Linda Stumvoll QuinnI graduated in 1969 with a BA in fine arts and went on to receive an MAin educational computing from Columbia University. After a long career ineducation as an art teacher and coordinator of computer technologyprograms, I retired in 2003 and now devote my time to fine art photographyand photo restoration. I still love traveling.Ronald TravisI graduated in 1969 with a BA and went on to receive a JD from NYU in 1972. My wife,Marquerite Smith, and I are retired attorneys after 40 years of practice. We still considerourselves advocates for social justice and civil rights for all in America. We remain active inour church and enjoy traveling all over our beautiful country.

Class of 1969Robert William TresterI received an AAS in electronics technology from SUNY Farmingdale in 1961. I then went onto receive a BS in physics from Hofstra University in 1969. I have been married to JeanTrester for over 42 years. I am a lifelong mountaineer, hiker, trekker, back-country skier, andenvironmentalist. I am also a world traveler, having been to 30 countries and six continents.I have studied piano; have taught physical science, math, and electronics; and have beenan electronic circuit designer and documentation specialist. I am a proud father of twowonderful, grown children: Sarah - MS in mechanical engineering, and Matt - BS inmanagement and CPA.Anthony VandercreekI graduated from Hofstra in 1969 with a BS in art education and went on to receive anMA in photography from LIU Post. I am retired from teaching photography at EasternSuffolk BOCES. I have been married to my wife, Deborah, for 35 years and had threechildren. I live in Aquebogue, LI, and love to work with old cars. I was a member andformer president of the Hofstra Veterans Alumni Association. I was able to teach for31 years and had some great teachers in fine arts. I have been married to Gail Sarcinella Zagoren for 42 years.David ZofferI graduated in 1969 with a BA in political science. I received a commissionas an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, married fellow Spectrum Playersmember Linda del Zio (BSEd, ’71), graduated from Fordham UniversitySchool of Law (JD, ’72), worked as an assistant district attorney in theManhattan DA’s Office, and later served as special assistant attorneygeneral of the state of New York. (NASDAQ: JRVR), a Bermuda-basedinsurance holding company that owns and operates a group of specialty insurance andreinsurance companies.
