Requirements to Take DE Classes Students MUST: Understand that DE courses become part of your permanent college transcript and are calculated into your postsecondary GPA.Therefore, poor performance as a dual enrollment student can ultimately impact one's postsecondary career, includingacceptance to a state univ ersity, academic standing, and financial aid eligibility. Maintain a minimum 3.0 high school unweighted GPA Pass the appropriate Reading and Writing sections of the College's Basic Skills Assessment placement test (ACCUPLACER or PERT)or submitted adequate SAT/ACT scores (See additional information - Procedures for Testing and Placement Criteria for DualEnrollment Students and College Ready Placement Test Scores). Hav e permission from the parent/guardian, school principal and counselor Meet with the College dual enrollment coordinator at the campus he/she plans to attend Only take two DE courses per semester Understand that the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment courses will be greater than in high school courses*Students are responsible for prov iding test scores to the DE Coordinator

Before Signing Up Be sure you meet the minimum requirements Speak with your parent/guardian Do you have time after school? Will you have transportation?Speak with your counselor Are you prepared academically for college level classes? What course should I take?Find the course(s) that you would like to take. Be sure that courses are being offered thissemester and that they do not conflict with the school day. List of approved courses, check if the course has a pre-requisite: Search for Course Code (date/time for class meetings). This MUST be after school with appropriate timeto travel from one campus to another. Course must be OPEN.

Step 1:Step 1: Apply for Admission Secondary School Student must apply for Dual Enrollment Admission at MDC. Once Admissions Application for Dual Enrollment has been processed - studentswill receive an assigned MDC ID Number Here are your next steps:– Activate your student portal account– Click on "Continue"– Follow instructions until you are provided with your username and MiamiDadeCollege e-mail address

Step 2: Submit this form required by Ms. Manhart to request referral to take aDE course https://forms.gle/pPjD6rhbR5jYS2V46 If needed, schedule your testing. You will need to inform Ms. Manhartonce you have tested/passed and provide documentation. If testing is not necessary, or you have completed it AND allrequirements have been met, Ms. Manhart will submit your referral toMDC.

Step 3: Your referral will be processed by MDC MDC will send a blank application to the email that youhave provided and request that you complete the application withthe course that you would like to take. Signtures will be requested via email from student, parent, counselor,and principal You will be notified when all signatures have been processed and youcan register for the course.
