Fellows-in-TrainingAll current West Virginia fellows in a cardiology training program are invited to present theirresearch (past or present) or a case report during the poster session. Eligible posters maypresent recent data, case study or information that has been presented previously at a local ornational meeting.2. Internal Medicine ResidentsAll current West Virginia internal medicine residents are invited to present a cardiovascular casereport during the poster session at the meeting.3. CV Team Members (RN, APN, PAs, Pharmacists, etc.)All current West Virginia-ACC CV Team Members (RN, NP, CNS, PA, PharmD) are invited topresent their research (past or present) during the poster session. Eligible posters may presentrecent data or information that has been presented previously at a local or national meeting.The accepted abstracts will be presented as posters and judged at the poster presentationduring the meeting. There are cash prizes for winners!*If you submit a case study:1. Case reports should be of a rare, unusual, or unexpected finding in a patient;2. The diagnosis should be known or the workup as complete as possible (all evidence asto the diagnosis should be included);3. There should be a brief review of the literature including numbers of patients with similarfindings/outcomes, risk factors, how it has been evaluated/treated, and outcomes whereknown;4. The case should include as much follow-up as is available;5. Pathology slides and supporting evidence should be included.

Healthcare providers need periodic updates tokeep pace with the latest science, technology and practice guidelines.Overall GoalThe overall goal of this activity is to increase learner competence by discovering strategiesto anticipate research-driven changes in practice, to enhance professional growth, and todemonstrate efficacy in team based patient care practice as new clinical approaches andtechnologies change.Learner Objectives Discuss new and emerging therapies for heart failure, and their role in the therapeuticmanagement and review current biomarkers and their role in establishing the diagnosis andprognosis of heart failure.Discuss new tools and regulations that impact the practice environment and highlight thecrucial role that ACC plays in shaping the practice environment of the future.Address new interventional technologies and indications for treatment of cardiovasculardisease.Compare and contrast contemporary surgical options for managing patients with severeheart disease.Identify clinical guidelines and discuss recent research to review lipid treatment goals.Address common problems unique to adult patients with congenital heart disease thatcaregivers will see in practice.Define the current status of STEMI care and how Mission: Lifeline can make a difference.Review recent trials, guidelines and appropriate use criteria related to cardiovasculardiseases and procedures including but not limited to: ischemic heart disease, valvedisease, STEMI/NSTEMI, heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, atrial fibrillation andanticoagulation.
