Thereare four levels of cover available andall provide roadside assistance with:local recovery; or nationwide recovery;or nationwide recovery and homeassistance; or nationwide recovery, homeassistance and European cover. Alllevels of cover also include misfuellingcover. What is covered?

The smart way to run your carWhat is covered?If Your Vehicle suffers a Breakdown, service will be providedduring the Period of Insurance in accordance with this policywording and the cover level You have chosen. Your coverlevel will be confirmed in Your Schedule of Cover and will beone of the levels described in the following:Local RecoveryThe following service is provided with all levels of cover:Roadside Assistance & RecoveryIn the event of a Breakdown within the Territorial Limits (UK)which occurs more than a one-mile radius from your homeaddress, We will send help to the scene of the Breakdownand pay Callout fees and mileage charges needed to repairor assist with the Vehicle.If, in the opinion of the Recovery Operator, they are unableto repair the Vehicle at the roadside We will assist in thefollowing way: Either: Arrange and pay for You and Your Vehicle to be recoveredto the nearest garage which is able to undertake the repairwithin 10 miles from the scene of the Breakdown.Or: If the above is not possible at the time or the repair cannotbe made within the same working day, We will arrange forYou and Your Vehicle to be transported to Your chosendestination up to 10 miles from the scene of the Breakdown.Any recovery must take place at the same time as the initialCallout otherwise You will have to pay for subsequent Calloutcharges.If Your Vehicle requires recovery, You must immediately informOur Rescue Controller of the address You would like theVehicle taken to. Once the Vehicle has been delivered to thenominated address, the Vehicle will be left at Your own risk.Emergency Overnight Accommodation and AlternativeTransport benefits are available under the followingconditions: The Vehicle must be repaired at the nearest suitable garageto the Breakdown location The Vehicle cannot be repaired the same working day The Breakdown did not occur within 20 miles of Your HomeAddress We will determine which benefit is offered to You byassessing the circumstances of the Breakdown and what isthe most cost effective option for UsAlternative Transport*We will pay up to 250 (up to 750 in the Territorial Limits(Europe) towards the reasonable cost of alternative transportor vehicle hire. We will also pay up to 100 towardsthe reasonable cost of alternative transport for one person toreturn and collect the repaired Vehicle.10

The smart way to run your carWhat is covered?Emergency Overnight Accommodation*KeysWe will pay a maximum of 150 for a lone traveller or 75 perpassenger when not travelling alone for one night on a bedand breakfast basis. The maximum payment per incident is 500.If You lose, break, or lock Your keys within Your Vehicle,We will pay the Callout and mileage charges back to theRecovery Operator’s base or Your Home Address if closer.All other costs incurred, including any Specialist Equipmentneeded to move the Vehicle, will be at Your expense.*These services will be offered on a pay/claim basis, whichmeans that You must pay initially and We will send You aclaim form to complete and return for reimbursement. Beforearranging these services, authorisation must be obtainedfrom Our Rescue Controller. The policy will only pay for a hirevehicle which we deem is appropriate for Your requirementsand is available at the time assistance is provided. We willonly reimburse claims when We are in receipt of a validinvoice or receipt.Driver Illness or InjuryIn the event You suffer an illness or injury whilst away fromYour Home Address and none of your passengers arequalified and competent to drive, We will arrange and payfor Your Vehicle to be transported by a Recovery Operatoror driven by a chauffeur to Your Home Address. A medicalcertificate clearly stating Your illness/injury is preventing Youfrom driving will be required before any claim is authorised.You must pay any costs relating to obtaining the medicalcertificate.Misfuel AssistIn the event your vehicle’s fuel tank is filled with the incorrecttype of fuel, we will arrange and pay up to 250 (inclusive ofVAT) for a recovery operator to either recover your vehicleand the passengers to the recovery operator’s base where adrain and flush to your vehicle’s fuel tank can be conductedor, to conduct the fuel drain and flush at the roadside.Subject to the 250 claim limit, we will also provide 10 litresof correct fuel.Occasionally misfuelling a vehicle can cause extensivedamage which a fuel drain and flush will not rectify. Wecannot accept liability for any damage caused to your vehiclebut if you would prefer for the fuel drain and flush to beconducted by your preferred repairer, we will arrange andpay for a recovery operator to recover your vehicle and thepassengers to a repairer of your choice within 20 miles of thescene of the breakdown. Subject to the prior authorisationof our rescue co-ordinator and upon receipt of valid proofof payment confirming the work undertaken we will also11

The smart way to run your carWhat is covered?reimburse up to 250 (inclusive of VAT) towards the cost ofa fuel drain and flush.Message ServiceIf You require, We will pass on two messages to Your homeor place of work to let them know of Your predicament andease Your worry.Nationwide RecoveryIf You have opted and paid for Nationwide Recovery cover,it includes all of the same benefits as Local Recovery cover,with the addition of Nationwide Recovery.Nationwide RecoveryIf Your Vehicle cannot be repaired within the same workingday in accordance with Local Recovery cover, We willarrange for You and Your Vehicle to be transported toYour Home Address, or if You would prefer, Your originaldestination within the Territorial Limits (UK).Any recovery must take place at the same time as the initialCallout otherwise You will have to pay for subsequent Calloutcharges.Nationwide Recovery and Home AssistIf You have opted and paid for Nationwide Recovery andHome Assist cover, it includes all of the same benefits asLocal Recovery and Nationwide Recovery covers, with theaddition of Home Assist.Home AssistWe will send help to Your Home Address or within a onemile radius of Your Home Address in the event Your Vehiclesuffers a Breakdown.If, in the opinion of the Recovery Operator, they are unableto repair Your Vehicle at the roadside, We will arrange andpay for You and Your Vehicle to be recovered to the nearestgarage which is able to undertake the repair.Any recovery must take place at the same time as the initialCallout otherwise You will have to pay for subsequent Calloutcharges.If Your Vehicle requires recovery, You must immediately informOur Rescue Controller of the address You would like theVehicle taken to. The smart way to run your carWhat is covered?Europewide Recovery and Home AssistIf You have opted and paid for Europewide Recovery andHome Assist cover, it includes all of the same benefitsas Local Recovery, Nationwide Recovery and NatiowideRecovery and Home Assist covers, with the addition ofEuropean Assistance and Departure Cover.European AssistanceWe will provide service in the Territorial Limits (Europe)where the maximum duration of any single Trip does notexceed 90 days. However short term policies (those with aPeriod of Insurance lasting one month or less) will be limitedto a single Trip not exceeding the Period of Insurance.Please ensure You carry Your V5C registration document anddrivers licence with You during Your journey. Due to localregulations and customs, You may be required to providecopies of Your V5C registration document and/or driverslicence. You will be held liable for any costs incurred if copiesof Your V5C registration document and/or drivers licence arenot immediately available.Regulations are different when You Breakdown in Europeand help may take longer in arriving. We will require detailedinformation from You regarding the location of Your Vehicle. Wewill need to know if You are on an outward or inward journeyand details of Your booking arrangements. When We haveall the required information We will liaise with Our Europeannetwork. You will be kept updated and therefore, You will beasked to remain at the telephone number You called from.If You have broken down on a European motorway or majorpublic road, We are generally unable to assist You and Youwill often need to obtain assistance via the SOS phones. Thelocal services will tow You to a place of safety and You willbe required to pay for the service immediately. You can thencontact Us for further assistance. We will pay a maximumof 150.00 towards reimbursement of the costs, but Wewill only reimburse claims when We are in receipt of a validinvoice/receipt. Payment will be made in accordance with theexchange rate on the date of the claim.If You have broken down in a European Country duringa Public Holiday, many services will be closed during theHoliday period. In these circumstances, You must allow Ustime to assist You and effect a repair to Your Vehicle. We willnot be held liable for any delays in reaching Your destination.For assistance in Europe, please call Us on:00 44 1206 812710We will send help to the scene of the Breakdown within theTerritorial Limits (Europe) and arrange to pay Callout feesand mileage charges needed to repair or assist with theVehicle.If, in the opinion of the Recovery Operator, they are unableto repair the Vehicle at the roadside We will assist in the13

The smart way to run your carWhat is covered?following way: -Departure Cover Arrange and pay for You and Your Vehicle to be recoveredto the nearest garage able to undertake the repair.In the event of a Breakdown within the Territorial Limits (UK)which occurs no more than seven days prior to a pre-bookedTrip to the Territorial Limits (Europe), then providing YourVehicle cannot be repaired by your intended departure andWe were immediately notified of the Breakdown, We willreimburse up to 750 towards one of the following: Where it is more efficient and cost effective to do so,We will pay up to 600 for the shipping of replacementparts from the Territorial Limits (UK) to the repairinggarage within the Territorial Limits (Europe). You will beresponsible for the cost of the spare parts and We willonly organise shipping once You have confirmed the spareparts have been paid for. Although We will endeavour tosource the required spare parts for You, We can make noguarantee the parts will be immediately available to Us. If the Vehicle cannot be repaired within 48 hours or by Yourintended return, whichever is later, We will arrange for Youand Your Vehicle to be transported either to Your HomeAddress, or if You would prefer, Your original destinationwithin the Territorial Limits (Europe). During this period Wewill pay for the costs of alternative accommodation andalternative transport up to the value of 750 (to be agreedand authorised with Our Rescue Controllers). The rental of a group C hire vehicle for the purpose ofcarrying out Your original Trip within the Territorial Limits(Europe). The cost of rebooking Your original sea crossing to thenearest available date once Your Vehicle has been repaired.Before arranging these services, authorisation must beobtained from Our Rescue Controller. No cover will apply ifYou do not evidence the duration of Your planned Trip wasfor less than 90 days. We will only reimburse claims whenWe are in receipt of a valid receipt for the hire vehicle and/orrebooked sea crossing tickets, together with copies of Youroriginal sea crossings and evidence from a Suitable Garagedetailing the repairs made to Your Vehicle.Departure Cover does not apply for any Breakdownoccurring within 10 days of You purchasing this policy or inthe event the imminent or actual Breakdown of Your Vehicleis discovered during an MOT or service carried out 10 daysprior to Your intended departure.14

What is not covered?

The smart way to run your carWhat is not covered?The following exclusions to this insurance apply to allsections unless otherwise stated:1. Any caravan/trailer where the total length of the caravan/trailer exceeds 7 metres/23 feet (not including the lengthof the A-frame and hitch) and where it is not attached tothe Vehicle with a standard towing hitch.2. Service where glass or windscreens have been damaged.3. Vehicles that are not secure or have faults with electricwindows, sun roofs or locks not working, unless the faultoccurs during the course of a journey and Your safety iscompromised.4. Breakdowns caused by failure to maintain the Vehicle ina roadworthy condition including maintenance or properlevels of oil and water.5. Costs incurred in addition to a standard Callout whereservice cannot be undertaken at the roadside becausethe Vehicle is not carrying a serviceable spare wheel,an aerosol repair kit, appropriate jack, or the lockingmechanisms for the wheels are not immediately availableto remove the wheels. This exclusion does not apply tomotorcycles or scooters.6. Any request for service if the Vehicle cannot be reached oris immobilised due to snow, mud, sand or flood or wherethe Vehicle is not accessible or cannot be transportedsafely and legally using a standard transporter.7. O verloading of the Vehicle or carrying more passengersthan it is designed to carry.8. Any subsequent Callouts for any symptoms related to aclaim which has been made within the last 28 days, unlessYour Vehicle has been fully repaired at a Suitable Garage,declared fit to drive by the Recovery Operator or is intransit to a pre-booked appointment at a Suitable Garage.9. T he recovery of You and Your Vehicle if repairs can becarried out at or near the scene of the Breakdown withinthe same working day. If recovery takes effect We will onlyrecover to one address in respect of any one Breakdown.10. A ny Vehicle which is not listed on Your Schedule of Coveras being eligible for Breakdown cover with Us.11. A ny request for service if the Vehicle is being used formotor racing, rallies, rental, hire, courier services or anycontest or speed trial or practice for any of these activities.12. Any Vehicle used for public or private hire unless ‘(Taxi/Private Hire)’ is indicated on the Schedule of Cover.13. M inibuses with more than 16 seats, horseboxes, orlimousines.14. A ssistance if the Vehicle is deemed to be illegal, untaxed,without a current valid MOT certificate, uninsured,unroadworthy or dangerous to transport.16

The smart way to run your carWhat is not covered?15. The cost of any parts, components or materials used torepair the Vehicle.16. Repair and labour costs other than one hour roadsidelabour at the scene.17. T he use of Specialist Equipment occasionally requiredbecause the Vehicle is not between the kerbs, it hasmodifications, or nearby obstructions are impeding theusual method of recovery.18. Storage charges.19. A ny claim within 24 hours of the time the policy ispurchased.20. Any Breakdown that occurred before the policycommenced, the Vehicle was placed on cover, or beforethe policy was upgraded.21. More than six Callouts in any one Period of Insurance.22. Claims totalling more than 15,000 in any one Period ofInsurance.23. Any costs or expenses not authorised by Our RescueControllers.24. The cost of food (other than breakfast when overnightaccommodation is provided), drinks, telephone calls orother incidentals.25. Claims not notified and authorised prior to expensesbeing incurred.26. The charges of any other company (including Policerecovery) other than the Recovery Operator, a vehiclerental agency or accommodation charges which havebeen authorised by Us.27. A ny charges where You, having contacted Us, effectrecovery or repairs by other means unless We haveagreed to reimburse You.28. Any cost that would have been incurred if no claim hadarisen.29. Any false or fraudulent claims.30. T he cost of alternative transport other than to Yourdestination and a return trip to collect Your repairedVehicle.31. The cost of fuel, oil or insurance for a hire vehicle.32. O vernight accommodation or vehicle hire charges ifrepairs can be carried out at or near the scene of theBreakdown within the same working day.33. R ecovery of the Vehicle or Your transport costs to returnthe Vehicle to Your Home Address once it has beeninspected or repaired.34. A ny damage or loss to Your Vehicle or its contents andany injury to You or any third party caused by Us or theRecovery Operator. It is Your responsibility to ensurepersonal possessions are removed from the Vehicle priorto Your Vehicle being recovered.17

The smart way to run your carWhat is not covered?35. We will not pay for any losses that are not directlycovered by the terms and conditions of this policy. Forexample, We will not pay for You to collect Your Vehiclefrom a repairer or for any time that has to be taken offwork because of a Breakdown.36. Failure to comply with requests by Us or the RecoveryOperator concerning the assistance being provided.37. A request for service following any intentional or wilfuldamage caused by You to Your Vehicle.Additional exclusions applying to the European Assistance1. The cost of recovery from a European motorway exceeding 150.00.2 R epatriation to the UK within 48 hours of the originalBreakdown, regardless of ferry or tunnel bookings for thehomebound journey or pre arranged appointments Youhave made within the UK.38. Fines and penalties imposed by courts.3. R epatriation if the Vehicle can be repaired but You do nothave adequate funds for the repair.39. Any cost recoverable under any other insurance policythat You may have.4. A ny Trip which was planned to or subsequently finishesoutside the Period of Insurance.40. Direct or indirect loss, damage or liability caused by,contributed to or arising from: -5. A ny Trip which is planned to or subsequently exceeds 90daysa) I onising radiation or contamination by radioactivityfrom an irradiated nuclear fuel or from nuclear wastefrom the combustion of nuclear fuel.b) The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardousproperties of any nuclear assembly or nuclearcomponent thereof.c) Any results of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy,hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war,rebellion, revolution, military or usurped power.41. Any cover which is not specifically detailed within thispolicy.18

The smart way to run your carWhat to do if you breakdownIf Your Vehicle breaks down please call Our 24 hour ControlCentre on:01206 812710For assistance in Europe, please call Us on:00 44 1206 812710Please have the following information ready to give to OurRescue Controller who will use this to validate Your policy: Your return telephone number with area code. Your Vehicle registration. The precise location of Your Vehicle (or as accurate as You areable in the circumstances)Please remember to guard Your safety at all times but remainwith or nearby Your Vehicle until the Recovery Operator arrives.Once the Recovery Operator arrives at the scene please beguided by their safety advice.If You are broken down on a motorway and have no meansof contacting Us or are unaware of Your location, please usethe nearest SOS box and advise the Emergency Services ofOur telephone number, they will then contact Us to arrangeassistance. If the Police or Highways Agency are present at thescene please advise them that You have contacted Us or givethem Our telephone number to call Us on Your behalf.We will take Your details and ask You to remain by thetelephone You are calling from. Once We have made allthe arrangements We will contact You to advise who willbe coming out to You and how long they are expected totake. Your mobile phone must therefore be switched on andavailable to take calls at all times. You will then be asked toreturn to Your Vehicle.20

General conditions

T he driver of the Vehicle must remain with or nearby theVehicle until help arrives.market value of the Vehicle in its current conditionfollowing the Breakdown, We have the option to payYou the market value of the Vehicle in its currentcondition and pay Your transportation costs to YourHome Address. It will be Your responsibility to applyfor a Certificate of Destruction or other such documentand You will be required to pay for any storage costswhilst this is obtained. If You would prefer the Vehicleto be transported to Your Home Address or originaldestination, this can be arranged but You will need to payany costs which exceed the market value of the Vehicle inits current condition.2. If a Callout is cancelled by You and a Recovery Operatorhas already been dispatched, You will lose a Callout fromYour policy. We recommend You to wait for assistance toensure the Vehicle is functioning correctly. If You do notwait for assistance and the Vehicle breaks down againwithin 12 hours, You will be charged for the second andany subsequent Callouts.3. We reserve the right to charge You for any costs incurredas a result of incorrect location details being provided.4. W e have the right to refuse to provide the service if Youare being obstructive in allowing Us to provide the mostappropriate assistance or are abusive to Our RescueControllers or the Recovery Operator.5. Your Vehicle must be registered to and ordinarily kept atan address within the Territorial Limits (UK).6. V ehicles must be located within the Territorial Limits (UK)when cover is purchased and commences.7. W e can request proof of outbound and inbound traveldates.8. I f in Our opinion the Vehicle is beyond economicalrepair or the cost of the claim is likely to exceed the9. W e will only pay ferry and toll fees within the confines ofthe Territorial Limits (UK).10. W e must be advised immediately at the time ofcontacting Us for assistance, if Your Vehicle is fitted withalloy wheels. If We are not advised and We are unable toprovide the service promptly or efficiently through theagent who will be assisting You, You will be charged forany additional costs incurred.11.I f We are able to repair Your Vehicle at the roadside,You must accept the assistance being provided andimmediately pay for any parts supplied and fitted bydebit or credit card.22

T he repair must be carried out if the Vehicle is recoveredto a Suitable Garage and the Suitable Garage can repairthe Vehicle within the terms stated. You must haveadequate funds to pay for the repair immediately. If Youdo not have funds available, any further service relatedto the claim will be denied.13. I n the event You use the service and the claim issubsequently found not to be covered by the policyYou have purchased, We reserve the right to reclaimany monies from You in order to pay for the uninsuredservice.14. W e may decline service if You have an outstanding debtwith Us.15. I f You have a right of action against a third party, Youshall co-operate with Us to recover any costs incurredby Us. If You are covered by any other insurance policyfor any costs incurred by Us, You will need to claim thesecosts and reimburse Us. We reserve the right to claimback any costs that are recoverable through a third party.be at the discretion of the Recovery Operator.
