TRANSFER PATHWAY GUIDE2020-2021Associate of Applied Science in Nursing ToBachelor of Science in Nursing – RN to BSNOverviewCompletion of the following curriculum will satisfy the requirements for the Associate of Applied Sciencein Nursing – RN to BSN degree at Cincinnati State and leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree atNorthern Kentucky University.Applying to the CState2NKU ProgramStudents can apply to participate in the pathway program by completing the online application on theNKU transfer webpage. Students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours at Cincinnati State, enrolledin an associate degree program, plan to transfer to NKU, and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA atCincinnati State.Degree Requirements for Cincinnati State1) Completion of minimum 62 credit hours, 36 of which from approved Transfer Module courses, 2)minimum cumulative GPA 2.0, 3) completion of an FYE course as part of the first 12 credit hours taken atCincinnati State, and 4) completion of Cooperative EducationAdmission Requirements for NKUStudents completing an associate degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher will be accepted intoNKU.Admission Requirements for the R.N. to B.S.N. program: Be fully admitted to NKU as a degree-seeking student. Submit a separate application to the R.N. to B.S.N. program. Submit to the Office of Admissions:o Official transcripts from an associate degree in nursing.o Official transcripts from all postsecondary work completed. Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.1

Complete the following prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of C in each course.Courses in parentheses are Cincinnati State courses.o ENG 101 (ENG 101) and ENG 102 (ENG 102, ENG 103, or ENG 104)o BIO 208/208L (BIO 151) and BIO 209/209L (BIO 152)o BIO 202/202L (BIO 220)o PSY 100 (PSY 110)o PSY 321 (PSY 225) or EDU 300 (EDU 210)o PHI 220 or PHI 200 (PHI 110)Hold current, unrestricted R.N. licensure. Proof of R.N. licensure in state of practice ismandatory prior to the first of any clinical course.This major can be completed online. Courses are offered in seven-week formats.Tuition for online accelerated programs differs from face-to-face tuition. Scholarship pricing is availableto Cincinnati State students who choose to enroll in the fully online program.Visit our website for more information about the Nursing Accelerated Online program.Degree Requirements for NKUTo earn a bachelor’s degree at NKU, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours with atleast 45 credit hours numbered 300 and above. In addition, at least 25% of the credit hours required forthe degree and the last 30 credit hours must be completed at NKU. Students must have an overall GPAof 2.0 and meet all requirements for the major. In some cases, students must complete a focus or minoras indicated on the pathway.Advising NoteStudents in the CState2NKU program should work closely with their advisors when choosingcourses. This document serves as a guide but does not replace academic advising. When choosingCincinnati State courses, student may also consult the Associate of Arts advising brochure or the catalogfor A and B list courses in Arts and Humanities or Social and Behavioral Sciences.2

National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN)A requirement for admission to the RN to BSN program is an active registered nursing license. In orderto obtain a nursing license nurses must take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination(NCLEX-RN).
