DUAL ADMISSIONS PROGRAM AGREEMENTFOR CRIMINAL JUSTICEMERCER COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGENEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITYI.Purpose and GoalsThis program is designed to offer students a unique opportunity to complete a Bachelor ofScience degree “seamlessly” at two institutions of higher learning. Under this agreement,students will enter into a sequential degree program wherein a Bachelor of Science in CriminalJustice (B.S.) degree at New Jersey City University (NJCU) is predicated upon conferral of anAssociate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Arts (A.A.) degrees at Mercer County College(MCCC). Students who participate in this program will be initially identified by MCCC, whowill provide notification to NJCU prior to the completion of the designated A.S./A.A. degreeprograms. MCCC will monitor the academic progress of students covered by this DualAdmissions Program Agreement. Students who subsequently complete their A.S./A.A. degreeprogram and fulfill all criteria of this Dual Admissions Program Agreement will enter NJCU asfully matriculated students.II.Benefits / Advantages of This Program Creation of a plan for completing the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Criminal Justicedegree (a full-time student can graduate with an A.S./A.A. degree and a B.S. inCriminal Justice in four years with each program taking approximately two years tocomplete);Provision of early planning with MCCC counselors to ensure a smooth transfer;Prospective students will be offered admissions and financial aid advising throughscheduled visits to the MCCC campus by NJCU admissions and financial aidrepresentatives;Ability to earn both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees while maximizingtransferability of credits;A guarantee that students who meet the stated criteria as outlined in section III will be“seamlessly” admitted to the Criminal Justice program at NJCU;Graduation requirements at NJCU will not change as long as the student meets thecriteria outlined in section V: Time Limits;Access to NJCU financial aid counselors to facilitate early financial planning andestimates of financial aid and scholarships while students are enrolled at MCCC;A welcome to NJCU from Admission’s with notification of a student's acceptanceinto the Dual Admissions Program.2

III.Requirements for Admission to NJCU under the Dual Admissions ProgramAdmission to NJCU is contingent upon a student’s: IV.Admission to MCCC;Completion and submission of the Dual Admissions Program Application any timeprior to his / her last semester at MCCC;Academic Record Release Form at time of acceptance to MCCC;Attainment of a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher at MCCC;Meeting the general admission criteria of NJCU;Submission of official transcripts of MCCC;Submission of official transcripts of all previous college work at each institutionattended and/or a WES evaluation.The Dual Admissions Program Application Process and Procedures1. The NJCU College of Professional Studies, Dean’s Office staff will mail MCCC DualAdmissions Program applicants a letter of welcome with notification of his / heracceptance into the Dual Admissions Program upon receipt of the Dual AdmissionsProgram Application. NJCU will waive the application fee as well the admissionsessay. The notification letter will outline the parameters and guarantees of theprogram and include instructions the student must follow to maintain eligibility in theprogram. Students will be assigned an advisor at each of the participatinginstitutions.2. MCCC will maintain records of students enrolled in the program and will provideNJCU, free of charge, with copies (preferably electronic) of student transcripts on orabout February 1st in the year of the student’s graduation (October 1st for thosestudents intending to enroll in the spring semester). A final, official student transcriptwill also be sent to the NJCU Undergraduate Admissions Office upon graduation.NJCU will provide MCCC with aggregate data on retention and graduation rates forstudents who transfer to NJCU under this Dual Admissions Program Agreement.V.Time LimitStudents completing the A.S./A.A. degree coursework at MCCC and matriculating at NJCUwithin four years of the student’s first enrollment in a course at MCCC will follow theundergraduate college degree requirements in place at NJCU at the time of initial enrollment in acourse at MCCC. If more than four years elapses between the date of initial enrollment in acourse at MCCC and the date of matriculation at NJCU, the student must fulfill the degreerequirements in place at the time of entrance to NJCU.VI.Transferability of CreditsDual Admissions Program students entering NJCU with an A.S./A.A. degree will receivecredit for all NJCU general education requirements. Students who have earned an A.S./A.A.degree from MCCC and meet all criteria set forth in Section III. Requirements for Admissionto NJCU will receive up to 60 credits at NJCU toward the bachelor’s degree.3

VII.Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Curriculum Requirements, Equivalents andCourse DescriptionsRequirements for each participating program are mapped and included in this Agreement underAPPENDIX A. Programs may be added to this agreement at any time by adding articulationmaps to APPENDIX A and the subsequent signatures of all parties in Section XI. Approvals.Students must successfully complete 120 college credits in order to receive the B.S. in CriminalJustice. Students can complete the remaining 60 credits required for the B.S. in Criminal Justicedegree as part- or full-time students. A minimum of 39 credits in Criminal Justice must be takenin residency at NJCU. Attachment A, entitled, "Associate in Criminal Justice to Bachelor of Science in CriminalJustice."Attachment B, entitled: “Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Program - CourseRequirements”VIII. Institutional ResponsibilitiesMCCC and NJCU agree to promote the Dual Admissions Program in appropriate collegepublications and at recruitment and outreach activities.MCCC and NJCU will appoint a program coordinator who will have a direct relationship withthe chairperson of the respective program.All students in the MCCC A.S./A.A. degree program will be advised by MCCC faculty / staff.Once MCCC students in the dual admit program graduate from MCCC and enter NJCU allstudents will be advised by Criminal Justice faculty.All MCCC General Education requirements will be considered satisfied according to thisagreement as long as the student satisfies the requirements for the A.S./A.A. degree at MCCC(English, History, Math, Humanities, etc.)IX.Agreement ReviewMCCC and NJCU will notify one another of curricular changes upon institutional approval. TheDual Admissions Program Agreement shall be reviewed and modified at least every three yearsor more often if agreed upon by officials at MCCC and NJCU.This agreement represents the entire agreement between MCCC and NJCU through theirauthorized agents and will be deemed fully executed on the date of the last signature. Allnegotiations, oral agreements, and understandings are merged herein and any change(s) in theterms must be made in writing and signed by all parties.X.Anticipated Date of Implementation4
