LONE STAR COLLEGE ACADEMY FOR LIFELONG LEARNINGCampus CarryThe Texas Legislature enacted campus carry by passing Senate Bill11, effective at LSC on August 1, 2017. Senate Bill 11, known as theCampus Carry law, amends the Texas Government Code and TexasPenal Code to allow license holders to carry concealed handguns oncollege campuses. To carry a concealed handgun on LSC campuses,an individual must have a valid License to Carry issued by the TexasDepartment of Public Safety. License holders may carry a concealedhandgun on or about their person on LSC’s premises except withinexclusion zones. LSC students, employees, and visitors on LSC’spremises or at LSC-sponsored or affiliated events are prohibited fromopenly carrying a handgun-holstered or not-on LSC premises.LSC has established rules and regulations regarding enforcementof Campus Carry, which are found at LoneStar.edu/WeaponsProcedures. As part ofthis registration, the individual must submit information pertinent tohis or her offenses, which will be forwarded to the College’s ReviewCommittee for a determination of eligibility for employment, vendorservices, or enrollment. All minors oncampus are subject to all LSC policies and procedures. In order toprovide for the safety of all children, an Authorized Responsible Adult(parents, legal guardians, or an adult authorized by a parent or legalguardian) must supervise Minors (persons aged 15 and under) onCollege premises, unless the Minor is participating in a College class,program, or event. This means that Authorized Responsible Adults donot have to accompany Minors while they are participating in theCollege class, program, or event, but must be present to monitor theMinors’ activities outside of a College class, program, or event.Minors participating in a College class, program, or event musthave written permission from their parent or legal guardian. TheAuthorized Responsible Adult must be immediately available in anemergency situation. The College does not staff its campuses withnurses, infirmaries, or other medical care facilities.
