The University of South Dakota commit was honoredwith the NGA Girls’ Junior Player of the Year as well.Badura proved herself as one of the best female golfersin the state, regardless of age, this summer. She was therunner-up at both the Nebraska Girls’ Amateur and theNebraska Women’s Amateur and made the semifinals ofboth the Nebraska Girls’ Match Play and the NebraskaWomen’s Match Play. Those finishes helped her win theNWAGA Point Standings race by a healthy margin. Thesenior at Aurora High School finished runner-up at the45th Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship at YorkCountry Club in June. She bested several Division I golferswith a 228 ( 18) total, and finished eight strokes behindthe champion, Haley Thiele of Wahoo. Badura’s final round74 ( 4) was the low round of the day. She also tied for thelow qualifying round at the 96th Nebraska Women’s MatchPlay Championship at Fremont Golf Club in July, shootinga 74 ( 3) and earning the No. 1 seed. She cruised to an8-and-7 win in the first round, and defeated Husker golferMegan Whittaker of Elkhorn, 4 and 2, in the quarterfinals.She then fell to the eventual champion, Kate Stricklandof Lincoln, in the semifinals. Match Play ChampionshipJULY 15-17, 2019FREMONT GOLF CLUB / FREMONT, NEFremont - Kate Strickland of Lincoln became the youngestchampion on Wednesday at Fremont Golf Club, cruising towin the 96th Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championshipover another young player, Lauren Thiele of Wahoo, 6 and4. NWAGA ScrambleAUGUST 26-27, 2019HERITAGE HILLS GOLF CLUB / MCCOOK, NEMcCook - The 2019 NWAGA season wrapped up from Heritage Hills Golf Course with the Four-Woman Scramble. The firstday featured low-scores, in spite of the high winds and tough conditions. The team of Lisa Mayer, Shelly Liddick, DeanaMorehouse and Molly Menear led both Net and Gross divisions, shooting a gross 12-under, 60. Those ladies were able to keeptheir lead into the final round and were crowned overall Gross Champions. Girls’ Four-StateJUNE 30 – JULY 2, 2019ARBORLINKS / NEBRASKA CITY, NENebraska City - Team Nebraska began with a hot start and never looked back.The team, led by Coach Steph Kolbas, won 11.5 of a possible 12 points during thetwo-day competition. During the final round, the ladies from Nebraska did notlose a single match before heading to the Clubhouse to receive their 51st JuniorGirls’ Four-State trophies. It’s Nebraska’s first win since 2014, and the first in thenew match play format. The NWAGAExecutive Board unanimously decided to double the number of scholarships, in large part, because of how successful 2019Fund Day was. The criteria needed for scholarship candidates will remain the same as year’s past. The application process willbe launched in the middle of December and conclude in early April.
