Personal growthThe Student Life Organisation(SLO) is a distinctive andintegral part of school lifeat Ashwicke Hall Schooland provides students theopportunity to develop theimportant life skills thatuniversities and futureemployers look for.SLO is the students’ society andmirrors the school management;the organisational structure ismuch like that of a company, withprefects who are selected, notelected, for positions for which theyhave applied.14These prefects can be responsiblefor a task, project or an entire teamand work in departments such asActivities, Academic, Outreach,Management, Sports and Health,and Discipline.SLO also provides the structure andplatform for many extra-curricularactivities and clubs including sports,music, art and crafts, photography,drama, computing, electronics, andlanguage clubs.The School is a recognised centrefor the Duke of Edinburgh Awardswhich offer students challengingactivities for their personaldevelopment.

LocationThe school’s campus is ideallylocated at the southern end ofthe Cotswold Hills with easyaccess to the World HeritageCity of Bath and surroundingcountryside. Our students areable to participate in adventurousactivities that aim to challengeand inspire young minds, whilsthaving fun.7. BoardingStudents may be daystudents or boarders withthe option of full, weeklyand flexi boarding.All our boarders live on campusin boarding houses supervisedby houseparents. Students resideon separate and secure floors ineither the Grade ll-listed mainbuilding or the purpose-builtresidential block.Each room in the boarding househas four beds, whereas thedormitories in the main buildinghave between three and five bedsto a room. Each student has abed, desk, chair and lockablewardrobe.Bed linen is changed once aweek, and there is a timetable forpersonal laundry.Students share rooms based onage, year group and academicperformance, as often roommates16in a boarding room can make anideal study group.Each bedroom has an en-suitebathroom with a toilet, oneshower and two washbasins.There are also electric sockets forstereos and other devices in allrooms.Common RoomsEach dormitory has a commonroom with an LCD television,a DVD player and recreationalfacilities such as a pool table,with two soccer tables in thecafeteria. The televisions all haveaccess to satellite channels whichare controlled centrally to ensureappropriateness.Each dormitory has 2 PCs withfiltered Internet access as well astwo telephone extensions whichparents can call at an arrangedtime to speak to their child.Mobile phones are allowed withtime restriction on use.

SportsFacilitiesSports facilities on campusinclude an indoor heatedswimming pool with changingrooms and a small gymnasium.The 25-metre pool opens ontoan outdoor space which is usedin the summer months.A large sports hall with squashcourts is used for a variety ofsports including basketball andindoor football.Other facilities include outdoortennis courts and a sports field.17

ApplicationProcessWe aim to make the admissionsprocess as simple as possible with5 easy steps:1. Attend a school tour day orarrange a visit;2. Submit an application form tothe Admissions Office with onerecent photo of the applicant;3. The school will then arrangea diagnostic assessment for eachapplicant;4. Parents request applicant’sprevious or current schoolrecords to be sent to AshwickeHall School; and5. The school will arrange aninterview (if the applicant hasnot already visited the school).18
