Project DocumentationDLNIRSP-DOC-102Revision A2. DL-NIRSP LONG LEAD ITEMSDL-NIRSP design calls for the use of off-the-shelf components whenever possible. Therefore, themajorities of the motion control and opto-mechanical components have lead-time less than 24 months, and are not considered to have significant schedule risk to the project.2.12.1.1OPTICAL COMPONENTSMirrors & LensesSeveral powered mirrors of DL-NIRSP are off-axis aspheres, some also with fast focal ratio. Their leadtimes are expected to be more than 24 weeks.2.1.2Integral Field UnitsThe BiFOIS IFUs of the project are custom design and built components. It requires multi-step, preciselycontrolled fabrication processes to produce the science-grade IFUs that meet the project requirements. The lead-time of the IFUs is estimated to be 24 – 32 weeks.2.1.3Bandpass Isolation FiltersThe bandpass isolation filters of the DL-NIRSP are based on the Dense Wavelength Division andMultiplexing (DWDM) filter technology developed by the telecommunication industry. The primaryoperating wavelength of telecommunication optical fiber is near 1,550 nm. The technology has beenextended into the near-IR and visible wavelengths in previous projects. Nevertheless, the fabrication ofthe BIFs for DL-NIRSP will takes more than 24 weeks to accomplish.2.22.2.1MECHANICAL COMPONENTSSpectrograph Optical TableThe spectrograph optical table is a mosaic of 4 small custom-sized tables. Their lead time is 24 weeks.2.3LONG LEAD ITEM TABLETable 1 DL-NIRPS Long Lead Time Item ListPartsDL-NIRSP Feed Optics OAM1 (Off Axis Mirror 1)DL-NIRSP Feed Optics MF24 (F/24 Mirror)DL-NIRSP Feed Optics MF62-1 (F/62 Mirror 1)DL-NIRSP Feed Optics MF62-2 (F/62 Mirror 2)PurchasedFabricationLead Time(weeks)XXXX24242424Page 5 of 6
