VENANGO CATHOLIC PARTICIPATES IN MARCH FOR LIFEMonday, January 25th, 17 Venango Catholic High School students attendedthe March for Life in Washington, D.C. The March for Life, a peacefuldemonstration to protest abortion which has been taking place annually on ornear the January 22nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, has been ayearly tradition for VC students. Currently, the limited numbers of bus seatsavailable are offered to VC seniors first, and then to other students if any seatsare left. The VC group joined a larger group of area participants who leftSunday evening at 11:30pm from the K of C, and returned Monday eveningaround midnight.The March itself begins at 2pm, with participants gathering on the National Mall around noon. This year’s March for Lifedrew over 300,000 participants, and was one of the largest groups in the March’s 30 year history. Students have theoption of touring the D.C. area in the morning, as well as listening to pro-life speakers.NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA OIL & GAS HUB TASKFORCEOn February 9th, 2011 at the Miller Training/Sperian Fall Arrest Systems, Inc, there willbe “Showcasing the Education Opportunities and Facilities in Northwest PA”. 10BUILD, SERVE, PROMOTEThe Board of Directors of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce have recently engaged in several planningsessions, to explore how to better carry out the mission of the chamber. This process has included a thoroughreview of past strategies along with in-depth discussions about chamber products and services. With new boardmembers appointed for 2011 and the leadership of the newly seated Executive Committee, there is a renewedcommitment the chamber's mission.The Venango Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to building, serving, and promoting business growth forour members and Venango Area Business.A first priority for this board is to form a Business Advocacy Task Force. This group will work to identify the keychallenges for business success in Venango County and develop programming and initiatives to address theseissues aggressively. The first step will be an invitation to members to participate in discussions about obstaclesthat prohibit business creation and expansion, locally and regionally and to define the chamber’s role indeveloping an approach to address issues. The first of these events are planned for March. More details will beshared soon.Additional initiatives include educational and networking programs that will provide members with promotionalopportunities, while providing valuable information to help your business be successful.The staff, board and chamber ambassadors will be reaching out to members to find out how our services aremeeting business needs.FLEX (Future Leaders and Entrepreneurial Exchange) and intern programs will continue to be a focus of thechamber, as we seek to build a strong workforce for the region.
