Postdoc SpotlightJANUARY 20TH:Room C1800FEBRUARY 17TH:Room C1800I have been working in the lab of Dr Milena Bogunovic at the DepartmentMARCH 16TH: of Microbiology and Immunology for almost four years now. Our lab studies dendriticcell and macrophage diversity and function in the gastrointestinal tract. My reRoom C1800search focuses on understanding the role of macrophages in the immune response against theintracellular pathogen Salmonella. Macrophages are essential for the innate phase of the imApril 20TH:mune response against bacteria but I am particularly interested in their role in shaping theRoom C1800adaptive immune response.earneddegree in biology at the Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary. After completing the course work at thegraduate school, my mentor invited me to join his other lab at the University of Medicine and Dentistry (Now Rutgers – NewJersey Medical School) in Newark, New Jersey to finish my research project. During my PhD I studied the roles of adenosinereceptor signaling in regulatingthe Coffeephenotype&ofLightdifferent macrophage populations, such as microglia following classical orEnjoyalternative activation.RefreshmentsI was born and raised in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. While growing up, I also spent a lot of time during summer breaksin the house of my grandparents in a very small village in northern part of Hungary. Outside work, I like watching movies andreading, for example historical fiction from my favorite author Herman Wouk. I love playing and also watching soccer; I am abig fan of Real Madrid. Since moving to the US, I also grew to like football and basketball, although I don’t know how to playthem at all, unfortunately.
