Aurora Graduate Medical Education OB/GYN Resident BiographiesKatherine Antillano, MD, PGY 1 Hometown: Miami, FLUndergraduate training: Florida International UniversityMedical School: Central Michigan University College of MedicineDr. Antillano was born and raised in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. She immigrated with herparents and younger sister to Miami, Florida in 2003 when she was 13 years old. Sheattended Florida International University where she received her Bachelor of Science inSpecial Education.Dr. Antillano is passionate about education, both as a teacher and learner, through herundergraduate years she was involved in different projects helping students withintellectual disabilities. In addition, she worked as an anatomy teacher assistant andchemistry tutor. She believes that teaching and healing are two of the most important things you can do for aperson.Dr. Antillano is devoted to helping the underserved community. During the years before medical school, she createda fundraiser and bought medical supplies that were sent to Venezuela. In addition, throughout the years she hasvolunteered in different community free medical clinics. Lastly, during medical school she was part of the committeethat created, planned and conducted CMED’s first free Community Health fair at Mount Pleasant, Michigan.She enjoys dancing, spending time with family and friends, watching TV and movies, new cuisine and traveling.Nimisha Kumar, MD, PGY1 Hometown: Indianapolis, INUndergraduate training: Indiana University - BloomingtonMedical School: Indiana University School of MedicineDr. Kumar was born in a small town in northeast India but moved to the US with herparents and older sister when she was just one year old. After moving around severalcities, her family settled in Indianapolis, IN where they have lived for almost 20 years.She studied biology with minors in Spanish, social sciences in medicine, and studio artat Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.For medical school, Dr. Kumar headed back to Indianapolis to attend the IndianaUniversity School of Medicine. She chose to pursue obstetrics and gynecology tofoster long-terms relationships with underserved patients while also having theopportunity to do a variety of procedures. Dr. Kumar has been highly active in obstetrical research and hascompleted two Cochrane reviews.In her free time, Dr. Kumar enjoys spending time with her dog, Veer, and her family. She also loves to travel,explore new restaurants, and experiment with different art forms, including drawing, painting, and textiles.1

Kaylee Potter, DO, PGY1 Hometown: Dewitt, MIUndergraduate training: Grand Valley State UniversityMedical School: New York Institute of Technology, College of OsteopathicMedicine at Arkansas StateDr. Potter grew up in Mid-Michigan before relocating to the west side of the state to attendGrand Valley State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in BiomedicalSciences. She then headed south to attend Medical School at NYITCOM’s Arkansascampus.Dr. Potter's initial interests in medicine stemmed from a passion for giving back to hercommunity. This passion grew through many volunteer positions followed by her time spent working as a CNA andmedical scribe. Dr. Potter is passionate about serving her community and excited for a career in women’s health.In her free time, Dr. Potter enjoys house renovation projects, cooking, camping, exploring the Milwaukee area andspending time with her husband.Salma Aljamal, MD, PGY2 Hometown: Milwaukee, WIUndergraduate training: Marquette UniversityMedical School: Oakland University William Beaumont School of MedicineDr. Aljamal was born and raised in a small village on the outskirts of Jerusalem,Palestine. Years later her family moved to the United States in hopes of a better futurefor her and her siblings. She eventually moved to Milwaukee and attended MarquetteUniversity where she studied Biomedical Sciences and Religious Studies.Dr. Aljamal’s passion and dedication to advancing women’s health arises from herunique experiences while living overseas. Having seen and experienced healthdisparities which disproportionately affected women has left her with a strong desire topursue a career which focuses on advancing women’s health.In her free time, Dr. Aljamal loves to run outdoors, spends time with her nieces and nephews and enjoys exploringnew coffee flavors.2

Erin Harvey, MD, PGY2 Hometown: Schertz, TXUndergraduate training: University of North TexasMedical School: McGovern Medical School, formerly University of Texas atHoustonDr. Harvey was born in San Antonio, Texas and as the child of two Army parents hadthe great fortune of calling Hawaii, South Carolina, and Texas home. Once her familysettled in Schertz, Texas, she received Bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry and EnglishCreative Writing at the University of North Texas. She knew throughout college that shewanted to combine her love for science and math with her desire to do better for others.She received her MD degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center atHouston, now McGovern Medical School. She began her residency training as a FamilyMedicine resident physician with the Aurora system, but her love for Women's Healthwas too compelling. While her path to Obstetrics and Gynecology took a brief detour,she considers herself incredibly fortunate to be able to join the Aurora Obstetrics and Gynecology residencyprogram and looks forward to her career as and Ob/Gyn.In her spare time, Dr. Harvey enjoys board games, baking, and all kinds of crafts.Berina Karic, DO, PGY2 Hometown: Waukesha, WIUndergraduate training: University of Wisconsin - MadisonMedical School: Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - AuburnDr. Karic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and immigrated to Wisconsinwith her parents and older sister in 2001. She received her Bachelor of Science degreein Biology from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Her calling to pursue a medicalcareer began at an early age, and it grew stronger while working as a medical assistantand medical scribe.Dr. Karic received her DO degree in Auburn, Alabama. During medical school, shedecided to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology because it combines thecontinuity of primary care with the technical skills of surgery creating a field that is both exhilarating and rewarding.Dr. Karic is passionate about family planning as well as providing care to underserved communities.In her free time, Dr. Karic enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, outdoor activities, and traveling.3

Brittany Schall, MD, PGY2 Hometown: Cibolo, TXUndergraduate training: Baylor UniversityMedical School: University of Texas Health-San AntonioDr. Schall grew up in northern California until age 11 and then moved to Cibolo, TX justoutside the San Antonio area. In high school she was very involved in the varsity danceteam and was even an officer her senior year. She ventured out 3 hours from home toattend Baylor University for her B.S. in biology. There she first got involved in patient carewith hospice volunteer work for two years.After graduation Dr. Schall went back to San Antonio for medical school where she wasreally able to develop her passions. She was involved in leadership in both MedicalStudents For Choice and PRIDE. Attending the national family planning conference through MSFC her first year ofmedical school inspired her decision to make OB/GYN her life’s work. She continued to get involved inreproductive and LGBTQ advocacy throughout her time as a medical student. She hopes to be a safe space for allof her patients, especially for those of the LGBTQ community.In her free time, Dr. Schall enjoys reading/writing poetry, hanging out with her partner and their 4 cats & 1 dog,and exploring the Milwaukee area!Shant Adamian, DO, PGY3 Hometown: Los Angeles, CAUndergraduate training: University of California – Los AngelesMedical School: Des Moines University College of Osteopathic MedicineDr. Adamian grew up in North Hollywood California before attending UCLA where hereceived his degree in psychobiology and environmental studies. He then spent a smallstint in Latin America researching eco-tourism, exploring the cloud forest, and traveling.After returning to Los Angeles, he became a high school Reproductive Health Educator; hiswork in teen pregnancy prevention became a catalyst for his desire to become an OB/GYNand shaped his passion for family planning and reproductive health advocacy. He isparticularly interested in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery with an emphasis in roboticsurgery.In his free time, Dr. Adamian enjoys trying new cuisine, doting over his plants, Peloton classes, attending outdoorfestivals, and international travel.4

Brittany Howse, DO, PGY3 Hometown: Deerfield, IllinoisUndergraduate training: Cornell UniversityMedical School: A.T. Still University of Health SciencesDr. Howse was born and raised in a northern suburb of Chicago less than an hour outside ofMilwaukee. She moved to the east coast for school earning her BA in Biology at CornellUniversity and MS in Kinesiology at Penn State University. She followed her heart back tothe Midwest where she met her husband, Alex, while participating in local CrossFitcompetitions.She completed her D.O. degree in Missouri where she decided to pursue a residency inobstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Howse is excited about a career in women’s health and ispassionate about teaching and patient care.When she’s not at work, you can find Dr. Howse spending time with her husband and twoboys. She enjoys being a mom, cooking, running, and spending time with friends.Mykenzie Mattheis, DO, PGY3 Hometown: Lodi, CaliforniaUndergraduate training: University of California – Los AngelesMedical School: Rocky Vista UniversityDr. Mattheis was born and raised in Lodi, an agricultural town in northern California. Shecompleted her undergraduate degree in Human Biology and Society with an emphasis inMedicine and Public Health at UCLA. She worked as a middle school math teacher in theyear before starting medical school at Rocky Vista University. She chose OB/GYN for thediversity of practice and because of her passion for working with women.Her interests include yoga, running, skiing, and spending time with friends and family.Dr. Mattheis is excited to explore all that Milwaukee has to offer.5

Andrew Fluckiger, MD, PGY4 Hometown: Torrington, WYUndergraduate: Brigham Young UniversityMedical School: University of WashingtonDr. Fluckiger grew up in Torrington, Wyoming — a small town of 6,000. During college, hestudied microbiology (bacteria are awesome!) and taught tap dance. He was achoreographer and performer for many different tap groups in Wyoming and Utah.He went on to complete his MD at the University of Washington and is excited to be inMilwaukee taking care of women. Obstetrics and Gynecology combines his love of humanphysiology, teaching and surgery. He is excited to learn from his patients and be there forthe important conversations in their lives.In his free time, Dr. Fluckiger can be found running on Oak-Leaf trail, knitting or hanging outwith his two kids and partner — and hopefully taking a tap dance class or two!Molly Ostroot, DO, PGY4 Hometown: Golden Valley, MNUndergraduate: Concordia CollegeMedical School: A.T. Still University of Health SciencesDr. Ostroot is a Midwest native, having grown up in Golden Valley, MN, a suburb ofMinneapolis. She was raised alongside two sisters to value family, friends, the great outdoorsand winter sports. Because of her mother, who is a nurse practitioner, she was interested inmedicine from a young age, but didn't realize her calling was obstetrics and gynecology untillater on in medical school.Dr. Ostroot loves the field because it allows her to form strong relationships with patients, butat the same time is very hands-on. Additionally, with an interest in global health she hopes tohelp increase knowledge surrounding women's health issues and improve access to care inher community, as well as around the world.Dr. Ostroot is happy to be in the vibrant city of Milwaukee working with the excellent residents, faculty and staff atAurora!6

Yuri Zermeño, MD, PGY4 Hometown: Chicago, IllinoisUndergraduate: Northwestern UniversityMedical School: University of IllinoisDr. Zermeño has finally ventured out for residency and moved out of the state of Illinois forthe first time. However, she did not get far and landed in Wisconsin. She's quite excited to behere and make the most of her time.She grew up on the southeast side of Chicago in a neighborhood few other Chicagoans knowexist. She loves the city of Chicago like no other. She adores her parents, older brother andsignificant other. Her favorite part of medicine is the human interaction and connection withpatients.Her inspiration to pursue obstetrics and gynecology is her grandmother, who birthed 13 kidsat home on a farm in Mexico, sometimes alone, and always unmedicated. Because of her, Dr. Zermeño believes itis quite a privilege to be able to provide safe deliveries for her patients.7
