He andDonna a ended the Chapter Regional Conference inMay of 1978 in Sea le along with other Chapter Boardmembers and their spouses, Sam Markarian, the Beck‐er’s, and the Nye’s.Paul graduated with an Associate’s of Science degreeIn 1987, Paul was recruited by McQuay to representin 1967 and an interest in con nuing on the HVAC en‐their products in Central California and started Duck‐gineering educa on path. Paul found that Cal Poly SLOworth Environmental Services (DES) with a sales teamwas one of two schools in the United States thatthat included Sco Labotz, Eric Dinneen, Paul Frieden‐offered HVAC engineering.bach, and Lee Erikson.Central Coast.3In the early 1970’s, Paul was asked to join the ASHRAESo he headed off to the

(ConƟnued from page 4)Paul has been senior sales engineer for many HVACsystems in Central California that included all of theTrane and McQuay equipment at St. Agnes MedicalCenter, the Save Mart Center, Fresno County JuvenileJus ce Campus, and 25 new high schools to name afew. Many projects in Kern County and on the CentralCalifornia coast also have HVAC systems with sales en‐gineering exper se provided by Paul.Paul and Donna have twomarried daughters, oneson, and four grandchil‐dren.In addi on toDuckworth family patri‐arch, Paul has been a lead‐er in the ASHRAE SJVChapter, the Central Cali‐fornia HVAC industry, andOver the past 13 years, Paul has chaired the Cal Polythe community.Paul and Donna DuckworthHVAC&R golf tournament and raised significant fundsfor the engineering department which has endowed aChair at the University. Also, Paul has been a mem‐ber of the State Center Community College District(SCCCD) Founda on since 2004, and served as Presi‐InformaƟon obtained and authored by Gilbert Nye, PE FASHRAE,dent of the Founda on in 2014.SJVC ASHRAE Historian.
