General InformationThe MinistryFounded as a ministry of Peachtree Baptist Church, Georgia Baptist College was born out of a burden totrain godly young men and women for Christ’s service. In the fall of 1980 God used Dr. David W.Dickerson to lead the congregation of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fairburn, Georgia, to establish a BibleCollege and Theological Seminary. Founded upon the principle of earnestly contending for the faith,Georgia Baptist College remains committed to the task of training Christian men and women spiritually andacademically for Christian service. GBC began in College Park, Georgia and moved in the fall of 1999 tothe rural community of Senoia, Georgia. GBC offers several programs, each aimed at developing theChristian to further the kingdom of God. At GBC academic excellence and a true commitment to the LordJesus are the focus.Peachtree Baptist Academy, another ministry of Peachtree Baptist Church, was founded in 1979 as Mt.Pisgah Christian School. Though the name has changed over the years, the heart of this ministry is stilldedicated to the glory of God. PBA has furnished GBC education majors with an excellent laboratory forstudent teaching and observation.Heart Cry for Revival Camp Meeting is scheduled annually the second Sunday in June. This is one of thegreatest ministries of Peachtree Baptist Church. This ministry provides our pastoral students withopportunities to hear some of the finest preaching in our nation. Pastors and families from all over theUnited States attend this weeklong conference. Every year is a genuine blessing.Ministry opportunities abound. PBC has outreach ministries to the area children’s ministries, rescuemission, jails, and local convalescent homes.8

General InformationArticles of FaithWe believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. We believe in the Holy Trinity consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity, virgin birth, substitutionary death, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe in the doctrine of grace to describe the mercy of God for undeserving sinners. We believe that salvation is solely by the grace of God.a. Christ Jesus the Lord, having died and shed His blood according to God’s gracious purpose, redeemed a people to Himself.b. The New Birth is an effectual work of God’s grace, which produces repentance toward God andfaith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Christians are saved to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We believe in a visible, personal, pretribulational, premillennial return of Jesus Christ for believers. We believe in the responsibility for Christians to glorify the Lord in both the edification of fellow believersand the evangelism of the lost.We believe heaven and hell are literal, everlasting, and conscious locations; heaven being reserved forbelievers, and hell being reserved for unbelievers. We believe that God has ordained the local church for the perpetuation of His Word and work.Georgia Baptist College uses only the Authorized Version of the Bible in the pulpit and in classroominstruction.Without apology, we stand against the ecumenical movement, the modern charismatic movement, andhypercalvinism.9

General InformationPhilosophy of EducationThe educational philosophy of Georgia Baptist College is theistic rather than humanistic. Since allwisdom begins with the infinitely wise God of the Holy Bible, education is to be based upon the Bible;centered on Jesus Christ; controlled by the Holy Spirit; related to the pupil; and socially applied. Learningis achieved through faculty lectures, discussions, student research, and practice. Only professing Christiansare accepted as faculty members, instructors, and students.Georgia Baptist College is a member of the American Federation of Christian Colleges andSchools. We have not sought accreditation by any secular accrediting association. Most accreditingagencies are humanistic rather than theistic in philosophy. It is our desire to have the approval of the LordJesus and His Church rather than the approval of the world.Because it is our desire to please the Lord Jesus Christ and His church, we are committed to bothacademic and spiritual excellence. Many of our graduates have been accepted into graduate programs byother fine Christian graduate institutions. To avoid government interference with the church ministries, Georgia Baptist College does notreceive any state or federal funding. Tuition, individual grants, and gifts from supporting churches andindividuals from around the world are used to maintain the college.Since Georgia Baptist College is under the direct control of Peachtree Baptist Church and uses herfacilities, it lives as long as it serves Baptist churches. If Georgia Baptist College ceases to be aconservative, Baptist, Bible-believing and teaching institution; it will cease to exist.PurposeThe purpose of Georgia Baptist College is to train Christian leaders and workers academically andspiritually for their place of service at home and abroad. Senoia is a smallhistorical community with that “old fashioned Southern charm.” The area that GBC is located in is referredto as the Peachtree Crescent. GBC is within a 30-minutedrive of Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.ClimateGeorgia Baptist College is located in the southern portion of the Eastern Time zone. The climate is typicalof most Southern states. In the summer the mid-Georgia climate is quite hot. Yet, the beauty of the landwith Magnolias and muscadines is beautiful to behold. The fall comes with a subtle beauty that reminds us of a fading flower. The warmth of the summer oftencarries over until October. The winter is usually mild, yet can often reward us with the rare gift of snow. The Southern charm isagain vividly portrayed through the winter blooming camellias and native azaleas. The sun is usuallyshining in this area of Georgia. The winter rest gives way to a wondrous rush of life. Blossoms seem to burst from everywhere during thespring in Georgia. The area and climate in which GBC is located lends many recreational opportunities anda beautiful climate in which to enjoy them.Spiritual LifeThe emphasis at Georgia Baptist College is spiritual growth for each student and the development of theirspiritual gifts. The faculty of Georgia Baptist College is very concerned that each student continues in theirChristian walk and service for the Lord. Itis the desire of GBC and Peachtree Baptist Church to help each student develop his or her spiritual gifts forthe glory of God.Chapel ServicesGBC chapel services are held once a week on Thursdays. The chapel services are not just monotonoussermons but real applicable instruction for the student’s practical life. Peachtree Baptist is an independent, fundamental,Baptist church and is committed to high moral and ethical biblical standards. PBC stands without apologyfor the King James Version Bible and against the charismatic movement, neoevangelicalism, ecumenicalism, hypercalvinism, and the contemporary type of services that are so prevalent today. These standards are incorporated to aid in keeping the student fromthe influences of the world and surrendered to the Holy Spirit that dwells within (I Cor. 6:19-20). Thestandards include avoiding gambling, drug abuse, obscenity, attendance at movie theaters, profanity, tobacco and alcohol use, and dancing.
