St. Maximilian Kolbe ChurchOctober 23, 2016Thirtieth Sundayin Ordinary Time“Two people went upto the templearea to pray;one was a Phariseeand the other was atax collector. The Pharisee took uphis position and spokethis prayer to himself,‘O God, I thank youthat I am not like therest of humanity -greedy, dishonest, adulterous -- or evenlike this tax collector.I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes onmy whole income.’But the tax collectorstood off at a distanceand would not evenraise his eyes toheaven but beat hisbreast and prayed,‘O God, be mercifulto me a sinner.’I tell you, the latterwent home justified, not the former;for whoever exaltshimself willbe humbled, and the one whohumbles himself willbe exalted.”—Luke 18:1018:10-14
