But before the incident isrecorded another important lawis presented – the constructionof the Kiyor – the wash basin. This was an item used In theMishkan and later in the BeisHamikdash to wash the handsand feet of the Kohanim beforethey began their holy service. The Baal HaTanya points outthat various items fabricated for the Mishkan weremade from gold, silver and copper, but nothingsparkled except for the Kiyor which was made fromcopper mirrors presented by the women. These were17 Adar 1 5782Rabbi Yisroel Edelmanthe last of the Mishkan articles to bemade but were used at the start of every service.Imagine the feeling of the Kohen proudly entering theMishkan walking past theimpatient waiting proletarianswith their offerings in hand –nothing could happen withouthim! Then he would approachthe wash basin and see hisreflection on the gleamingcopper; it was truly a humblingexperience. It was a moment ofsoul searching and a reminder itis but a gift of birth that I am aKohen. He was ready to serveHashem and his brethren. Maywe take a moment of reflectionbefore we Davven and rememberwho we are and appreciate thebountiful blessings Hashem has bestowed upon us.THIS WEEK’S NEWSLETTER ISJanet Rottenberg on the Yahrzeit of her mother, Miriam bas Klonimus Kalman, A’H;Rochelle & Joseph (Yossi) Seif on the engagement of their son, Louie Seif to Hindy Edell;Debbie (Deanna) Jacobs on the 30th Yahrzeit of her husband, Shlomo ben Pesach, A’H.PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFOREGARDING COVID ON PAGE 2

Reminder from the YIDB Ritual CommitteeIn keeping with our long-standing practice and in order to preserve and maintain the sanctity and dignity ofour synagogue and its services, it is respectfully requested that all men (members and guests) and any visitorsof Bar Mitzvah age and above, not wear sandals or shoes without socks or tee shirts with inappropriatemessages nor short trousers, unless for medical reasons.Additionally, on Shabbos and Yom Tov those leading the services are requested to wear both a jacket and tie.Following these guidelines will enable the gabbaim to honor everyone with kibbudim including Aliyahs, leading the services, etc Tzinus (modesty in dress) is an important component of Jewish life, especially in the synagogue. We look forward to and welcome your participation in the life of our synagogue. The YIDB Ritual CommitteeYIDB Policies Regarding COVID – Updated 2/18/22We continue to monitor the COVID situation. We remain in contact with our medical andRabbinic authorities for their latest opinions and guidance. The situation is improving, but itremains fluid, thereby making policy decisions complex.Given the most recent guidance of our experts, our best practices suggest that for thosewho still feel vulnerable, it is “certainly reasonable” to:1) Encourage those who feel ill to stay home.2) Those who are medically compromised should continue to follow the bestdirectives of their personal physicians.3) Those who wish to do so should wear masks while in Shul without hesitation. Thisassumes those in question are fully vaccinated and had the booster shot. Thosewho remain unvaccinated are, in all cases, strongly urged to be masked wheneverin our Shul building. We welcome every person to our Shul. However, our membership requires us to remainvigilant based on our best professional guidance. We thank you, as always, for yourcontinuing support and cooperation. ברוך הבא Young Israel of Deerfield Beach would like to warmly welcome all newcomers, visitorsand guests who are joining us for Shabbos. If Rabbi Yisroel Edelman or President Steven Schoenfeld do not get a chance to greet youpersonally, please come up and introduce yourself. They would like to meet you!2
