Enroll your children inclasses for the grade they will enterin the upcoming school year. OFKmay change a student’s schedule if theclasses enrolled in are not consistentwith appropriate grade level.CLASS TIMES &REPEAT COURSESPlease remember to check yourstudent’s schedule. You do not wantto register for more than 1 class perperiod in the same session, for example2 classes in Period A during Session 1.Also, courses are repeated throughoutthe summer in different sessions. PROGRAM POLICIESPROGRAM POLICIESCLASSROOM RULESeeChildren must act appropriately, usepolite language and wear properclothing at all times.Cell phones and other electronics mustbe kept in backpacks and not usedduring class times, unless explicitlyallowed by the instructor.On-Campus SafetyParents are responsible for any damagestheir student(s) cause to equipmentand materials given during theirregistered class.Failure to follow these rules, any otherclassroom guidelines, or any OhloneCollege regulations, may result in dismissalfrom the OFK program without a refund.HEALTH AND SAFETYCAMPUS SUPERVISIONOhlone College has a 100% vaccinationrate for faculty and staff. Ohlone requiresthat all students who attend in-personclasses must be fully vaccinatedagainst COVID-19 and provide proofof vaccination. The only exception isfor students who apply for and receivea medical vaccine accommodation(application available here). Studentswho enroll in Live Online classes do notneed to provide vaccination status. Maskrequirements will follow Ohlone Collegeguidelines at the time of the program.For more information.Campus staff will be available duringall breaks and lunches beginningfrom 8:00am to 6:00pm. PROGRAM POLICIESOhlone for Kids OnlineONLINE BEHAVIORAll general rules apply to online classes. Students are expected to maintain respectfulbehavior during class discussions. Personal attacks, vulgar or hateful speech, sharinginappropriate content, and other excessively disruptive behavior will be reported andmay be grounds for removing your student from class.DEVICE REQUIREMENTSAll students are expected to have an internet-connected device to access classes.Devices must have a camera for class participation.We recommend a laptop running Windows 7 or later, or Mac OS 10.12 or later, butfor most classes a Chromebook or tablet running Android or iOS may suffice. Checkclass listings for additional hardware/software requirements. OFK is unable to providetechnical support for user devices.CLASS SUPPLIESHOW DOES IT WORK?Class supplies will be delivered digitallywhenever possible. Students are expectedto provide basic home and officesupplies. For all other class supplies, kitswill be available for contactless pickup atour Fremont office the Thursday prior tothe start of class. Supply lists will also beposted on class pages should you preferto obtain supplies yourself.Students will log in to Ohlone’s Canvaswebsite. From there, they will be ableto access any course materials andassignments the instructor has madeavailable. All classes will be delivered livevia Zoom teleconference. Once logged into Canvas, students will be able to findthe link to the day’s class meeting. Justas they would in a classroom, instructorsuse a wide variety of tools to delivertheir classes and provide interactivefeedback to students. Students mustlog in via a device with a camera, andmay be required to share their computerscreen so that our instructors can see thestudent’s work and offer feedback.GOOGLE ACCOUNTS& OTHER ONLINESERVICESMany classes may require that studentshave access to Google accounts or other3rd-party services. Children under age 13should not have their own accounts, butshould use a parent’s account instead.PARENTALSUPERVISIONDirect supervision is generally notrequired, though may be encouraged forsome class sessions such as engineeringand science classes. Because OFKclasses are for students, parents shouldnot directly participate. Parents mayobserve online classes, but must notinterfere with classroom instruction.OFK cannot control what your childdoes on their computer or outsidethe view of the camera. Parents areultimately responsible for the conductof their child in the online classroomand on their devices. OFK Online is thenewest program from Ohlone for Kids.We’ve partnered with the college todeliver a program that brings the qualityinstructors you expect from OFK into thesafety of your home.6Ohlone for Kids and Teens Policies HOW DO I REGISTER?Parents can enroll their student(s) in OFKOnline classes the same way they enrolledfor any of our in-person classes. Once astudent registers for a class, an accountwill be created for them on OhloneCollege’s Canvas website. This accountuses the same email address listed on thechild’s profile on our registration website.If you have more than one child and theyare taking the same class, please makesure they have different email addresseslisted on their profile.HOW CAN I FIND OUTMORE ABOUT ONLINECLASSES?Registration &Fee PoliciesDROPS / REFUNDPOLICYOhlone for Kids class registrations maybe refunded up to 30 days prior tothe first day of the class; cancellationrequests made thereafter will only becredited to the student or householdaccount. Beginning on the 2nd day ofclass, registrations are non-refundableand no credit will be given forcancellations or transfers.Classes cannot be prorated and norefund will be given for any missedclass days or late registrations.CLASSCANCELLATIONSOFK reserves the right to cancel coursesdue to insufficient enrollment. In theevent a course is canceled, parents willbe notified by email 4 days before theirstart date and will receive a full refund.SCHEDULE CHANGESFor changes to your child’s schedule,please contact the main OFK office.All cancellations made within 30 daysof the start of class are subject to a 50service fee per student per class, unlessthe student is transferring into anotherclass. The service fee applies to alltransfers as well as cancellations within14 days of the start of class.WAITING LISTNo seats available in the class youwant? You can still register and placeyour child on the waiting list. When aspace becomes available, OFK staff willcall students on the list in the orderregistered.
