Howard secured627 votes, or 56.75 percent of thetotal votes cast, and will avoida runoff election in November.His third term of office begins inearly January 2023.Howard soundly defeatedFrank Magarino who received254 votes, or 23 percent of thetotal, and Joe “Hank” Akin whoreceived 224 votes, with 20.27percent of the votes.District 4 supervisorial candidate Joey Borges was far outfront with 44.67 per cent of District 4 votes, surpassing secondplace finisher Patty Adams, with234 votes, or 25.19 percent of thevotes. Because neither candidatereceived more than 50 percent ofthe vote, they will face each otherin the runoff election in November.Brian Stone placed third in theDistrict 4 race, with 223 votes just 11 votes behind Adams. She was instrumental informing the local Coast GuardAuxiliary Flotilla and she laterbecame a Flotilla Commander.Bev has helped organize the NollLongboard Classic Surf Contest,which brought hundreds of people to our beautiful community.She is loving, kind, and inspirational to those who know her.Blake InscoreBlake is a perfect example of a“Hometown” Hero. He is alwayspositive and has a sensible, calmsolution in today’s crazy world.He has been past mayor, currentcity councilman and is a pastor.All of these require a strong will,professionalism and a kind heart.Blake is a strong family man andcares about the community andarea.Dan BarntsDan Barnts, owner of DelNorte Tire, remained openthroughout the COVID-19 pandemic, assisting the communitywith the services they needed.He was always willing to providethese services and he worked outpayment plans with customers,as he knew many were struggling financially. Dan is such ablessing to our community andhe should be commended alongwith his staff for the work theyhave done.Ginneen ThompsonGinneen is an outstandingmember of this community.Khou VueKhou Vue is a HometownHero. He is an educator, a fatherand a cultural leader in theHmong community. Khou wasinstrumental in establishing theHmong Cultural Center of DelNorte County and he helps withoutreach so members of theHmong community are receivingneeded information.This wasespecially essential during thepandemic when food distributionand vaccination details wereimportant. Khou has limitlessenergy as he educates and leadsin our county. For this, and manyother reasons, I believe that he isa Hometown Hero.Cindy VosburgCindy kept our communityconnected during the height ofCOVID and in the years thathave followed. Cindy was oftenin the front of the informationcoming from the state, CAL-Osha, and the federal government,and she was remarkable in getting this ever-changing information to the public. Cindy continues to bring ideas and revenue toour region. Her relationwith those underprivileged bridges a gap.Eileen BennetEileen has been instrumental in the start of Prison PawPartnership. PPP places homelessdogs from our local pound withselected inmates at PBSP. Shehas had a nearly perfect successrate of adopting these prisontrained pups into loving homes.Also, Eileen is the HumaneSociety cat shelter manager. Sheis an extremely giving person,always making time for othersand still finds time to bottle feedorphaned kittens.Lisa McKeownLisa has a history of being inservice to her community andexemplifies all the qualities as ahometown hero. Lisa is a founding board member for MissionPossible, where she has dedicated numerous hours, helpingour most vulnerable population.She has accomplished so much,all the while taking care of herailing husband for the past 10years.
