2021 – 2022 Vietnam Student GuideIV. ONLINE LEARNING OPTIONSVietnam TermStudents enrolling in the MBA program in Vietnam areenrolled in a cohort learning option. This option consistsof four starts per academic year with each term being 12weeks in length and a one-week break provided for Tet(Vietnamese New Year) in January or February each year. The academic year for the Vietnam learning optionbegins in Term 1 and ends with Term 4. All coursecontent is provided in English.Students in the MBA and BBA programs may enroll in LPLcourses at any time. Start dates are defined andcommunicated to the student following enrollmentprocessing. Although the standard length of an LPLcourse is ten consecutive weeks (the end date is set tenweeks from the course start date), students can progressthrough a course in as few as four weeks or extend thecourse to as many as 18 weeks.Students enroll through the Vietnam offices located inHanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Two courses per term areoffered in both locations. Courses offered in thislearning option are in a hybrid format. These coursesutilize asynchronous delivery through the BlackboardLearning Management System; lectures by course facultyusing zoom; tutor-led sessions held two days per week ateach location; and face-to-face review of coursematerials by CSU faculty, who, if travel to Vietnam ispossible, travel to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during thelast weeks of each term to review for and administer thefinal exam. If travel to Vietnam is not possible, facultylectures are delivered virtually and synchronously byzoom and the final exams are conducted in Blackboard.Course learning outcomes, assignments, andassessments in this cohort learning option align withcourses offered in the previously mentioned learningoptions.Additional time beyond the normal course length of tenweeks requires the purchase of a course extension. Thecourse end date is the only required deadline. Studentsin LPL courses can submit assignments and completeassessments throughout the duration of the course;however, all course work must be submitted beforemidnight on the evening of the course end date toreceive credit for the completed academic work. The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program isnot offered in this learning option.TermThe Term learning option has defined start and end datesconsisting of nine weeks (56 days) of instruction in eightunits of study. Instruction begins on Wednesday andends on Tuesday. The Term learning option is designedfor distance education students to interact with theirinstructor weekly. Students enrolled in the Term optionfollow defined submission dates for all academic work. This learning option provides a structured frameworkthat facilitates on-time course completion, allowingstudents flexibility throughout the week for assignmentcompletion. Designated login times are not required.Students complete and submit course work at acontinuous and pre-determined pace throughout theterm. In addition to weekly assignment/assessment duedates, students also interact with course faculty andother class members through weekly discussion boards. The cohort learning option is only for courses offered ineach city that have 10 or more students enrolled.Vietnam students in courses with fewer than 10 studentsare enrolled in the CSU Term or LifePace Learningoptions.LifePace LearningLifePace Learning (LPL) is an online correspondencelearning model and provides a flexible, asynchronouslearning format for CSU students. The flexibility of thislearning option allows the student to complete courseswithin a timeframe that aligns with the student’sschedule and learning preference. All CSU degree programs are eligible for this learningoption.10
