THIRD SUNDAYOFEASTERMAY 5, 2019Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: With the help of sponsors, volunteer organizations and U.S.Postal Service employees in 10,000 communities nationwide, the National Association of LetterCarriers (NALC) will conduct its 27th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive– the nation’s largestsingle-day food drive – on Saturday, May 11th. The Cathedral FoodPantry will receive food from the drive on that day from 5:30-8 pm. Ifyou would to volunteer to help out, please stop by the Food Pantry.To make a donation, customers should leave their non-perishable fooddonations in a bag near their mailbox on Saturday, May 11th beforetheir letter carrier arrives. In the days leading up to the food drive, lettercarriers will be delivering special bags along with your mail that may beused to make donations. The collected food will be delivered to localcommunity churches, food banks and food pantries for distribution.While all non-perishable donations are welcome, foods that are high in protein such as cannedtuna, salmon, beans and peanut butter are most needed. Canned fruits and vegetables, wholegrain, low sugar cereals, macaroni and cheese dinners and 100% fruit juice also top the list ofmost needed items.
