The othersacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of theapostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For inthe blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.”(CCC 1324)This definition of the Eucharist from the Catholic Catechism gives us the meaning of the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Do weremember that first time we took the body of Jesus on our tongue or in ourhand? What was it like to receive Jesus? Granted, most of us were very young, seven or eight years old, but still my guess is there are pictures of that day toremind us of the moment our life changed forever. Saint Therese, the LittleFlower, “recalled the sweetness of this first kiss. Our meeting could no longerbe a simple glance,” she writes, “but a fusion. We are no longer two. Theresehad disappeared like a drop of water in the midst of the Ocean. Only Jesusremained.” (Mauriac) Do we feel like this when Jesus enters us through theEucharist? This week we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood ofJesus Christ, Corpus Christi the gift given to us by our savior Jesus Christ. This ismy Body, take and eat it, this is my blood, take and drink it, do this in remembrance of me. We as Catholics believe with those words the bread and winechange and become the body and blood of Jesus Christ. “At the Last Supper, onthe night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of hisBody and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the crossthroughout the ages until he should come again, and so entrust to his belovedSpouse, the Church a memorial of his death and resurrection; a sacrament oflove, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet in which Christ isconsumed, the mind is filled with Grace, and a pledge of future glory is given tous.” (CCC 1323) When we take Jesus gently in our hand do we feel as SaintTherese did, like a drop of water in the midst of the Ocean, surrounded, absorbed into the love of Jesus? Do we receive Jesus every time as if it were thefirst time, the last time, the only time? Please join us in our Eucharistic Processions at the last Mass of our threechurches this weekend. Let us walk with Jesus as He walks with us. Faith Formation/CCommunityFormation/ CommunityABOUT THE MASS: Liturgical MinistersWhen we gather together for Mass, we are each called to participate to the very best of our ability. We all sit andstand, listen, sing and pray as one. During the course of the Mass, some of us get up and take care of the special tasksthat need to be done. We read, we collect money, bring up the gifts, lead the singing. These tasks are carried out byour Liturgical Ministers. In the sharing of our gifts and talents we help to move the whole Assembly toward the full and active participationenvisioned by the leaders of the Church gathered at the Second Vatican Council. In the sharing of our talents, werespond to the Baptismal call to use our gifts to enhance our prayer together.Which gifts are you being called to share? The Summer can be a good time to ponder this question as we take a breakfrom our regular activities. If you are comfortable reading, perhaps you are called to proclaim the Word as a Lector. Ifyou enjoy interacting with people, you would be a great asset to our Ushering and Greeting Teams. Are you looking forsomething to do as a family? Then consider joining the teams that serve refreshments after Mass or who decorate ourChurches. Each of our Parishes has special needs that they are trying to fill. For example, we are each trying to rebuild our AltarServer Teams after so many months away due to COVID. Altar Servers help Mass to run more smoothly, and they addto the beauty of church rituals as they lead processions into and out of church. They set the Altar, hold prayer booksfor the Priest, and perform other duties that are necessary during Mass. Altar serving allows children of the parish totake part in the ritual of the Mass beginning as young children in 3rd grade right through high school.Anyone interested in learning more about the Altar Server Ministry should contact:St. Alphonsus: Deacon Dick Curriedcurrie@stjamespennington.orgSt. George:Catherine Granzowcgranzow@mindspring.comSt. James:Deacon Dick to St. Georgeparishioner,Mary Petrangeli, who graduatedfrom PennsburyHigh School,Fairless Hills, PA.Mary was awarded the Academic GoldMedal in Family and Consumer Sciences and the Presidential AcademicAward for maintaining Honor Roll status through Grades 9-12.Sign-Up for our June BookClubOur recent Faith Formation Surveyshowed a real appetite for bookclubs in the Catholic Community ofHopewell Valley. We recruited book captains andhave formed book clubs for themonth. In his environmental encyclical, Pope Francis has called us to an“ecological conversion” to protect the Earth and its resources, which God hasgiven to us. With that in mind, the Recycling/Waste group of the Care of theEnvironment Committee invites you to consider the following, to help us all carefor what we have received as a gift. We have been told: “To whom much is given, much is required.” (Luke 12:48).Most of us are now in the habit of placing recyclable items that we use at homeinto our bins, and putting it out for curbside pickup. But, there may be ways torecycle that don’t readily come to mind.If you obtain recyclable cups (and other items) when you are away fromhome, for example, at a fast-food restaurant, have you thought of bringing those items home with you and putting it in your bin, if a recyclingreceptacle is not available at the restaurant? If you purchase coffee outside the home, have you thought of bringing a reusable mug instead of using the single-use cups provided by the coffeeshop? Please note that some shops may not allow this, but it’s worthchecking into. Shops that offer self-serve beverages would be more likelyto allow this.We invite you to consider trying out one (or both!) of these ideas to see whatmay work for you. A little change can make a big difference!Titusville 4th of July ParadeCome be present in the community and have some fun!Walk with us in the 4th of July Parade under the banner“The Churches of Titusville”.Join with St. George,The First Presbyterian and theTitusville United MethodistChurches.1:00 PM, Monday, July 4thin the village along the river.RSVP and contact Deacon Gallagher for details:lgallagher@StGeorgeTitusville.orgYou Are Invited To Daily MassStart the day in a quiet, peacefuland spiritual way!Check the Daily Mass scheduleson page 3 of this bulletin.Communion at HomeIf you or someone you know is homebound and cannot attend SundayMass, but would like to receive HolyCommunion, please call your parishoffice to arrange a visit.
