Theobjective is to achieve bare pavement on allBorough streets within 36 hours after asnowfall has ended.Snow emergencies will be announced onlocal media and onwww.hollidaysburgpa.org.Please remember that ANY vehicle thatviolates the parking regulations imposed by asnow emergency WILL BE TOWED ATOWNER’S EXPENSE.Remember, odd-even parking restrictions areonly in effect when a Snow Emergency hasbeen declared!According to Borough Ordinance, allproperty and business owners must clear allsidewalks of snow within 24 hours of the endof a snow event!remember to shovel sidewalks within 24hours of the end of a snowfall event. Thebuildup of snow and ice on sidewalks canbe dangerous for pedestrians of any age,and Borough Ordinance requires residentsto maintain a 30 inch pathway free ofsnow. The Borough appreciates yourcooperation with keeping the sidewalkssafe by complying with the Borough’sOrdinance!SLEDDINGREMINDERSTo accommodate the popular wintertimeactivity of sledding, during times ofsignificant snowfall, Spruce Street will beclosed between Bella & Bell Streets (the“double dips”) to allow for sleddingbetween 8:00 AM and 10PM. Thereshould be no sledding after 10PM.Remember that the street will only beclosed when there is a significant snowfall,not every day in the winter. Harry was presented theaward at a special ceremony heldThursday, January 28th at theAmerican Legion Social Hall.Mr. Thompson has been a residentof Hollidaysburg for many years.Harry continues to be a veryactive member of this community.Mr. Thompson is the ninth personto receive this award in theBorough of Hollidaysburg.Page 3SUPPORT FORPATRIOT PARKPatriot Park has special meaning to the Borough ofHollidaysburg. It was built to honor and rememberall the veterans.Work was recently done and will continue for thecare and up keep of the park. Councilman JosephDodson is reaching out to the residents andneighbors for support of these tasks. It isexpected to be a great one!I would like to take a moment to recognize the hardwork that went into cleaning up, keeping thecitizens safe, and getting the town moving againafter the recent snow storm. It was a job well done!The patience and participation of you, the residents,during cleanup was much appreciated as well.Please remember to always be mindful of fellowresidents and drivers in the event of snow storms assome streets will become a bit narrower with theexcess snow.Let’s continue to work together to keep our townsafe! Mayor StultzTOYS FOR KIDS PROGRAMSPONSORED BY POLICEThe Toys for Kids program was able to help make Christmas alittle brighter on December 16th when a total of 186 wrappedgifts were delivered to the three schools for 42 children. Thesechildren were referred to the Toys for Kids program by theHollidaysburg Senior High and Junior High schools and CWLonger school nurses. This program has continued for the past26 years. A special thanks to all those who donated!HELP THE FIRE COMPANYFIND YOUR HYDRANT During a snow storm, the fire company is asking that thecommunity help keep fire hydrants accessible near their homes.The act of clearing out around the hydrants could help savelives in the event of an emergency. Thank you!A NOTE FROM THE CHIEFA reminder to everyone! TheHollidaysburg Police Department isone of the three locations wherediscarded or discontinued medicationscan be dropped off. A free medicationdrop box is located in the lobby of thePolice Department.Please help to get dangerous andpotentially addictive drugs out of thehomes and off the street to where theycan be safely disposed of by lawenforcement. Please do not use wire to bundle.If your items were not set out in time or they were missed,they will be picked up the FOLLOWING WEEK. Itemsmust be placed curbside by 7AM, and the only alleypickups will be Sweet Cherry Court in Holliday Hills.You can also drop your items at the IRC DuncansvilleRecycling & Compost Facility. The facility will beopen Tuesdays from 12PM – 5PM.Screened Compost or ScreenedMulch will be available forpurchase between the hours of 3PMand 5PM.No electronics accepted.Free IRC My-Waste AppIn an effort to make recyclingeasier for everyone, the IRC hasworked with My-Waste todevelop a smart phone app forour area. Exciting features forresidents include: the ability toreport a missed collection, signup for alerts, set a personalrecycling calendar, and searchfor nearby dropoffs.You may use this feature on yourdesktop or download the mobileapp to your smart phone device.You can find the app on ourwebsite, Google Play, or iTunes.Recycling Bins If you still need arecycling bin, you can pick them upat the IRC office, IRC municipalbuildings or Scan QR code todownload the My-Waste Apphighway yards. The residential bindistribution event held the end ofOctober was a rousing success butsome residents missed the event. It is one of the greatattributes of Hollidaysburg.Be mindful that PennsylvaniaState Law requires that youmust obtain appropriatepermits to have certain typesof projects done.Not obtaining the necessarypermits could lead to legalaction and fines.Zoning permits from the Boroughmay also be necessary. The Phoenix VolunteerFire Company will be collecting keys at the firedepartment in support of this cause. Any number of keydonations will be greatly appreciated.
