SELECTING ENGLERT METAL ROOF SYSTEMSAestheticsFinishesSnap-Lock Versus Mechanical Seams A wide range of seam profiles, panelwidths and finishes to create the rooflines you desire. Our exceptionally broad range offinishes, both custom and standard, cancreate anything from a natural weatheredappearance to bright high-performance,full-strength fluorocarbon colors. Snap-lock systems offer easy, fastinstallation and uniform, clean-standingseam profiles, especially in transitionsbetween roof surfaces to mansards andfascia. The locking panel profile continuously interlocks with the adjacent panelwithout mechanical seaming or additional caps. Panels are typically fastenedto the substrate with concealed clips thatprovide clearance for thermal expansionand contraction. These systems havelimited structural ratings and require aminimum slope of 3"/12". Narrow seams or wide batten-typeprofiles are available in both structuraland non-structural systems. Optional ribs and striated patterns arealso available to articulate the roof linesfrom ridge to eaves. The systems accommodate complex roofconfigurations, including hips, valleys, dormers and a broad range of pitches. Transitions between roof surfacesand other building elements, such asmansards, fascia, siding and soffits, canbe cleanly and seamlessly detailed in avariety of profiles. Panel systems come in custom widthsfrom 12" to 21".Structural Requirements Our 1000 series architectural roofsystems are economical, non-structuralprofiles for application over decking innew construction or over existing roofsin retrofit applications. Englert’s 2000 series roof systems meetUL and ASTM standards for structuralroofing when applied directly overpurlins or trusses. Mechanically-seamed systems arejoined with a machine that folds eachpanel over the adjacent one to form acontinuous, watertight seam. Thesesystems are ideal for very low slopes, with pitches as shallow as 1/2"/12",and provide better air and waterinfiltration protection. Flush seam panels can achieve flatsurfaces on fascia walls and soffits.Product SelectorA1301(1”)C1301(1”)3

COATINGS AND TECHNOLOGYEnglert’s in-house continuous coil coating lineprocesses product in five basic steps. The base metalis cleaned in an alkaline bath, rinsed with hot water, and chemically pretreated using a dried-in-placepretreatment. Next, a primer is applied, and thenbaked on, followed by an oven cured top coat.Typical substrates coated are aluminum, hot dippedgalvanized steel, Galvalume , and cold rolled steel.Coatings that can be applied are acrylics, polyesters, plastisol, siliconized polyesters, full strength 70% Kynar500 /Hylar 5000 fluorocarbons. Finishes can be appliedto either the top side or both sides of the substrate.Englert’s coil coating line is equipped with quickchange heads, so color changes can be accomplishedwithout line shutdown, facilitating the coating of awide range of finishes in minimum quantities.Englert’s in-house paint line also has the ability toapply a thick film Kynar based paint system that iscapable of withstanding 100 liters plus of falling sandas required in many government specifications.Englert and LEED :Perfect TogetherEnglert metal roofing products contribute significantly tothe sustainable building movement. This process induces a shadow form effect.Combined with our low gloss Kynar coating it helps reduceoil canning, giving the system a smooth, linear appearance.Oil-Canning: The roll forming process can sometimes resultin inherent surface unevenness. This is referred to as “oilcanning.” This condition is also caused by thermal expansionand contraction, dark colors, high gloss finishes and unevensubstrate. “Oil-canning” in and of itself is not sufficient causefor material rejection.Kynar 500 is a registered trademark of Atofina Chemicals Inc.Hylar 5000 is a registered trademark of Ausimont USA Inc.Galvalume and Galvalume Plus are registered trademarks of BIEC Industries Inc.ULTRA-Cool is a trademark of the PPG Corp.PermaColor 3500—Full Strength 70% Kynar 500 /Hylar 5000 Royal BlueHartfordGreenDark BronzeMansardBrownBurgundyPacific BlueForest GreenMatte BlackMediumBronzeColonial RedSlate BlueEvergladeMossCharcoalGraySierra TanDeep RedTerra CottaPatinaGreenSlate GraySunNet BlueSandstoneBone WhiteHemlockGreenDove GrayStone White**PermaMetallics 3500MetallicCopperChampagnePre weatheredGalvalume Mill FinishGalvalume-Plus R.68Contact Englert directly at 1-800-364-5378 for current LEED compliant information.
