Introduction Empowering Women of Nepal (EWN) is a localnon-profit company, based in Pokhara, whichaims to improve the lives of Nepali women andgirls through adventure tourism. It was foundedby three Nepali sisters, Lucky, Dicky and NickyChhetri, who were pioneers in the promotion offemale trekking guides in the Himalayas,and was registered in 1999 under Nepal’s SocialOrganization Act 2034.The Chhetri sisters also founded 3 SistersAdventure Trekking to work in partnership withEWN in promoting and empowering women andgirls through adventure tourism. Together, weoffer practical skill-based training programs freeof cost to the trainees. The training is designedto extend educational, employment, andentrepreneurial opportunities to disadvantagedwomen from all over Nepal, and can be followedby a six-month paid apprenticeship scheme. 1. Female Trekking Guide Training Twice a year during the trekking off-season, EWN offers an intensive fourweek Female Trekking Guide Training Program. The average age of theparticipants is 20 and, for optimal results, the maximum group size is 40trainees. The objective is to have participants from different regions ofNepal and for the first six months of the paid apprenticeship scheme ahostel facility is provided for disadvantaged women from rural areas(Karnali Region, Everest, and Langtang). This year also 33 girls participated in training from 14th Aug- 9th Sep, 2016.And 36 girls participated in other training that started from 15th Jan- 10thFeb, 2017.

2. Rock climbing Training This year rock climbing trainingstarted from Mangsir 13 to Poush6, 2073 where 19 girls took partin the trainnig. With our mainguide Mr. Harry Brands and other6 women who had already takenthe training and were working asa guides provided this training tothe trainees.3. Girls and Boys LeadershipTraining With the financial support ofCottier Donze Foundation, EWNhas been conducting this trainingin one of the community schoolof Pokhara, Shree RameshworiSecondary School.

4. Cleanliness Program5. One Billion Rising DayWith collaboration to otherorganizations EWN has beenconducting cleanlinessprogram which is to removewater hyacinth from FewaLake. Like wise all three sistersworking members and thetrainees participated in one ofthe local cleanliness program. Like every year this yearalso on 14 the Feb, 2017with collaboration to theorganization EWNconducted One BillionRising Day Program with theslogan “ Enjoy in the streetand dance in the street”.

6. Leadership and MentoringTrainingNine female guides from EWN and 3sisters Trekking Companyparticipated in 10 days EmpoweringGirls Leadership Camp on thesponsorship and invitation of Soccerwithout border and Women Winfrom 14-24 July, 2016. They learntdifferent leadership developmentgames and skills and implemented iton schools of 3 different districtsTanahun, Myagdi and Nawalparasi to153 students.7. STEM (Science TechnologyEngineering & Maths) With the objective of providingtechnical and practical knowledgeto girls studying in Governmentschools EWN conducted 2 daysTraining of Teachers SkillsProgram on 17-18 April, 2017 toteachers from 7 different schools.

8. Student Scholarship Program This organization have been helping13 children economically to geteducation in different governmentand private schools. According therequirement this organization havebeen helping children even after theirSEE.9. Workshop and Seminars The staff members and the membersof this organization have beencontinuously participating in variousseminars. Likewise, the founder ofthis organization Lucky K. Chhetri andthe trekking guide Khima Thapa tookpart in Women Adventure Exploreprogram on 7th Oct, 2016 in Bristol,Britain.Also, the founder Lucky K. Chhetriparticipated in tourism relatedprogram in Netherland.

Other ProgramsHomestay TrainingLanguage and Leadership Class Usually many volunteers fromdifferent countries visit theorganization every year, they provideEnglish, French, German languageclasses to the girls.Likewise, many classes about skillsand leadership development havebeen conducted every year speciallyincluding Female Trekking GuideTraining. With the intent of providing supportin the economic status of localpeople of earthquake affected areas,EWN conducted 6 days Homestaytraining in Sindhupalchok on 21stMay, 2017.

16 days Expedition AgainstGender ViolenceVolleyball Competition Every year from 25th Nov- 10th DecEWN in collaboration with ThreeSisters Adventure Trekking isconducting 16 days expeditionagainst Gender Violence. This yearalso through street drama there wasan awareness program about GenderViolence. Also, the students fromGOAL program of ShreeBindhyabasini School presented adrama against Gender Violence.On 19th Sep, 2016 EWN conductedinter Volleyball competition foradolescent girls of communityschools of Tanahun and Kaski whohad already taken the leadershiptraining. Girls from 6 different schoolsparticipated in this competition.

Computer Grant for schoolstudents With an objective of supportingstudents to get technical knowledge,EWN provided a computer to ShreeJana Chetana Primary School situatedat Bhalam, Kaski district.Cash Handover With the help of Women Win, EWNhandover the cash of NRs. Five LakhTwenty-Five Thousand (5,25,000)toMrs. Laxmi Sunar one of the guides of3 sisters who was survived fromAeroplane crash in Jumla.

Goal Camp With the financial support of United WayWorldwide, EWN conducted 5 days GOALcamp for 50 adolescent boys and girls inShanti Secondary School located atBhankunde on 26th Dec, 2016.
