SPIRITUAL WARFARESERIESThe Weapons of Our Warfare Part 1“Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against theworld forces of darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians6:12)
CLASS AGENDA In this lesson we are going continue our series onSpiritual Warfare. Tonight we will be discussing ourweaponry. We will learn about the following:– About our Weapons– Offensive Weapons
INTRODUCTION Last week we learned more about the enemy’s ways andstrategies against us. We learned that sometimes we areour own worst enemy when our flesh rules us. Hopefully,we all learned how really big our God is and the depths ofHis love like we never have before. Tonight we are going to dig into the weapons of warfarethat the Lord has provided for us to defeat Satan’s wiles asthey come up. We are going to learn how to use them and what we needto do to hone our skills in this area of prayer.
About Our Weapons– Our foundational scripture for tonight is foundin the book of Ephesians 6:10-18. Let’s read ittogether and then break it down.– Verse 10 – “be strong in the Lord [beempowered through your union with Him];draw your strength from Him [that strengthwhich His boundless might provides].– Right out the gate we have to realize that wecan do NOTHING without Him. We areempowered to conquer ONLY through Him!
About Our Weapons– Verse 11 – “Put on God’s whole armor [thearmor of a heavy-armed soldier which Godsupplies], that you may be able to successfullystand p against all the strategies and thedeceits of the devil.”– God isn’t going to do it for us. We must do ourpart in this thing. The armor is to be put onevery day. These days are especially dangerouswith all the hatred and violence in the land.– He paid for all the things we need to bevictorious—use it all.
About Our Weapons– Verse 12 – “For we are not wrestling with fleshand blood [contending only with physicalopponents], but against the despotisms, againstthe powers, against [the master spirits whoare] the world rulers of this present darkness,against the spirit forces of wickedness in theheavenly (supernatural) sphere.”– We have to recognize who we are fighting andthat it isn’t people we are contending with. Wehave to be able to look past people and see thatthose opposing us are being used by these darkforces.
About Our Weapons– Verse 13 – “Therefore put on God’s completearmor, that you may be able to resist and standyour ground on the evil day [of danger], andhaving done all the crisis demands, to standfirmly in your place.”– The armor and the weapons give us the abilityto stand our ground along with our immovablefaith in God’s ability to give us the victory.– You will reach the place where you just have tostand and believe God for the impossible afteryou have done everything His Word requires.
About Our Weapons– Verse 14 – “Stand therefore [hold your ground],having tightened the BELT OF TRUTH around yourloins and having put on the BREASTPLATE OFRIGHTEOUSNESS (Integrity, and of moral rectitude,and right standing with God).”– The belt of Truth is the deep rooted knowledge of theWord and His will for you. It is so important to hidethe Word of God in your hearts for times such as this.– The breastplate of righteousness is literally yourintimate relationship with God. It is being in thecenter of His will for your life at any given moment.
About Our Weapons Verse 15 – “And having shod your feet in preparation[to face the enemy with firm-foot stability, thepromptness, and the readiness produced by the goodnew] of the Gospel of peace.” This is the immoveable position in scripture. It isactual the Gospel shoes of peace. This positionensures that you are ready at any given moment toaccomplish the will of the Father. The Psalm says“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We areto bring heaven’s will to the earth.
About Our Weapons Verse – 16 “Lift up over all the covering SHIELD OFFAITH (saving faith), upon which you can quench ALLthe flaming missiles of the wicked one.” Nothing in Satan’s arsenal of weapons can stop faithin God. Your faith in God takes away allimpossibilities and brings you into the realm ofpossibilities. The Shield of Faith is the strong faith in God builtfrom the day to day intimate relationship betweenYOU and GOD.
About Our Weapons Verse 17 – “And take the HELMET OF SALVATIONand the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (the sword that theSpirit wields), which is the WORD OF GOD.” Our firm foundation is our salvation. Our namesbeing written in the Lamb’s book of life. Jesus saidthat is our greatest joy and benefit. All this warfarewill end one day and we will be strong in the Lord asa result of it. The Bible—the pure Word of God is what the Spirit ofGod wields as we speak it out in faith against all thepower of the enemy.
About Our Weapons Verse 18 – “Pray at all times (on every occasion, inevery season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayerand entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch withstrong purpose and perseverance, interceding inbehalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” The weapon of praying in the Spirit is critical inovercoming the trials and attacks of the enemy. Hecan’t understand the heavenly language of the Spirit.He can’t use the words spoken in the Spirit against us.When you can’t think of anything else you can do,PRAY IN THE SPIRIT! The breakthrough will come.
About Our Weapons God is so good! He has thought of everything to equipus to go through our lives living above the waves. ThePsalm says “through God, I can run through a troopand leap over a wall.” (Psalm 18:29) God has provided weapons that we have neverconsidered as weapons. Such as the weapon ofrepentance and the weapon of praise. Let’s look at all the weapons that our God hasprovided for us!
Offensive Weapons– When an army goes on the offensive, they arethe aggressors. They are advancing forward.We are supposed to depopulate Satan’s prisonsand bring those souls into God’s kingdom.That is our mission as end time believers.Souls are more important now than ever beforesimply because of the evil times. So muchdeception has to be overcome to bring the lostinto the kingdom.– The army of God is an aggressive army. Thegates of hell won’t prevail against OURonslaught!
Offensive Weapons– The offensive weapons we have access toinclude:– The Name of Jesus– The Blood of Jesus– The Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)– Praying in the Spirit– Praise & Worship– Repentance– Agape Love
Offensive WeaponsThe Name of Jesus The Name of Jesus is our authority. It iscritical that we always speak in the Name ofJesus. The enemy MUST bow to His Namebecause of the utter defeat he suffered whenJesus died and rose again. Luke 10:17 says “The seventy returned withjoy, saying, Lord, even the demons aresubject to us in Your name!”
Offensive WeaponsThe Name of Jesus Philippians 2:-11 says “Therefore [becauseHe stooped so low] God has highly exaltedHim and has freely bestowed on Him thename that is above every name. That in (at)the Name of Jesus every knee should (must)bow, in heaven and on earth and under theearth. And every tongue [frankly andopenly] confess and acknowledge that JesusChrist is Lord, to the glory of God theFather.”
Offensive WeaponsThe Name of Jesus Matthew 28:18 says “Jesus approached andbreaking the silence, said to them, Allauthority (all power of rule) in heaven andon earth has been given to Me.” The Name of Jesus really is our primaryweapon. Because the enemy has ALREADYbeen defeated by Jesus. We are enforcingHis kingdom laws in the earth when we useHis name to do any kind of spiritualwarfare.
Offensive WeaponsThe Blood of Jesus The Blood of Jesus is also our primary weapon.The Name and the Blood. The Blood of Jesustotally repels darkness. That is why drawing theBloodline of the Lamb of God is so effective. Theenemy just doesn’t want to come into contact withthe Precious Blood of the Lamb.
Offensive WeaponsApplying the Blood of Jesus The Blood of Jesus must be applied to your situationlike any other transaction in the kingdom of God:through FAITH an the WORD of God spoken out ofyour mouth with full confidence that you will havewhat you say according to the Word of God. There are a few practical ways to apply the Blood ofJesus. Pleading the Blood Drawing a Bloodline Holding the Blood
Offensive WeaponsPleading the Blood To plead is not to beg. It is a legal term used topresent an argument for your case. For us, we goto the Throne of Grace/Court of Heaven to presentour argument to the God of Heaven who is the onlyrighteous Judge. It is through the Blood of Jesus that we areaccepted into His realm. Nothing else. Our ownrighteousness is as filthy rags in coparison to Hisrighteousness.
Offensive WeaponsPleading the Blood You would plead the Blood of Jesus in any petitionbrought to God for any situation. By pleading theBlood, you are sealing the prayers & petitions(assuming they line up with scripture) for a “yesand amen” from Him! You would plead the Blood of Jesus when you havesinned and you know the enemy is accusing you.Agree with your adversary quickly Jesus says!Here is a sample prayer to plead the Blood of Jesusover a petition/situation:
Offensive WeaponsPleading the Blood “Father, I come before You boldly, through the Blood ofJesus Christ! I confess that I have sinned against Youand Your Holy Word! I have (name your sin here). Iagree with my adversary in that I am guilty of this sin!I REPENT and turn away and renounce it! I ask forYour help and mercy to get victory over this sin. I plead the Blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth over mysin right now! I thank You Father that through theBlood of Jesus Christ, I am cleansed! I am now in rightstanding with You and Satan has no legal ground toharm me or anything in my life! I thank You for mercyand grace. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!”
Offensive WeaponsDrawing A Bloodline Every Blood-bought believer has theauthority to draw a Blood Line aroundthemselves, their property, their finances,their loved ones, their physical bodies andminds, their ministries and the list goes onto include EVERYTHING that concerns theirlives. What is a Blood Line? It is theultimate line in the sand to tell the devil hisboundaries in our lives. The principle isfound in the book of Exodus 12:1,3,5-7,1113). Let’s read it together.
Offensive WeaponsDrawing A Bloodline The Israelites drew a blood line around theirhomes and families that the spirit of death couldNOT cross. It was a type and shadow of the Bloodof the Lamb of God that Satan and all his forces tothis day cannot cross. This principle in the Word of God, is our exampleof God’s will in drawing a Blood line around ourlives and situations, except the Blood we use is theBlood of Jesus Christ and we apply it by FAITH.Remember, faith is the currency of Heaven.Everything we do in the Kingdom of God must bedone in FAITH!
Offensive WeaponsDrawing A Bloodline Once that Blood line is drawn, Satan has to backoff, but he’s going to fight it and it may even lookworse for a while, but stand in FAITH, until yousee the battle turn. Hold that Blood line and standin FAITH! Once Satan sees you won’t be moved by thecircumstances, he has to flee. Remember, he is theaccuser of the brethren and if you agree with thecircumstances, he’s got you. Situations like this areintercessory prayer battles that require time topush through. The Bible says we wrestle notagainst flesh and blood, but we do WRESTLE!
Offensive WeaponsDrawing A BloodlineFather, I come before You in the Name of Jesus Christ,who shed His Precious Blood that I might have victoryin EVERYTHING that Satan throws at me! I bring mychild before You now and claim him/her for theKingdom of God! I refuse to let Satan take them awayfrom me and You!By an act of my FAITH, I draw a Blood Line with thePrecious Blood around my child’s spirit, soul (mind, willand emotions) and physical body! I draw the Blood linearound his/her education performance, friendships andeverything that concerns them! I know Father, that Youwill perfect his/her life!
Offensive WeaponsDrawing a BloodlineSatan, I remind you of the Blood of Jesus thatcovers my house! You cannot cross this Bloodline in the Name and the Authority of JesusChrist of Nazareth, who defeated you by Hisdeath and resurrection! I bind you fromoperating against my child any further in theName of Jesus!Father, I thank You for the victory! I thank Youthat my child is Your child! I thank You thathis/her spiritual eyes are being opened to Yourgoodness! I now stand in FAITH and IBELIEVE and TRUST You for my child’s life!
Offensive WeaponsDrawing a Bloodline This prayer covers all the bases. You are comingboldly to the Throne of Grace through the Blood ofJesus for your situation. You are claiming your child for the Kingdom,which is in God’s perfect will. You are making your stand against Satan’s attack. You are using the weapon of the Blood of Jesusagainst the enemy and you are taking yourauthority against Satan in Jesus’ Name. Finally, you are praising God for the victory andmaking your faith stand.
Offensive WeaponsHolding the Blood Holding the Blood takes drawing the Blood line a stepfurther. To hold the Blood IS your faith stand. The Bloodis held on the enemy until he flees. He MUST flee. TheBlood of Jesus demands it of him. The scriptures back this principle up with: “Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted,established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing thatthe same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood(the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.” (I Peter5:9) “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, “be lifted up andthrown into the sea!” and does not doubt at all in his heart butbelieves that what he says will take place, it will be done forhim.” (Mark 11:23)
Offensive WeaponsHolding the Blood “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered throughyour union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [thatstrength which His boundless might provides]. Put on the wholearmor [the armor of a heavily-armed soldier which Godsupplies], that you may be able to successfully stand up against[all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending onlywith physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against thepowers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers ofthis present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness inthe heavenly (supernatural) sphere.” Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able toresist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], andhaving done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in yourplace]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened thebelt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplateof integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God.”
Offensive WeaponsHolding the Blood “And let us not lose heart and grow weary andfaint in acting nobly and doing right, for indue time and at the appointed season, we shallreap, if we do not loosen and relax ourcourage and faint.” (Galatians 6:9) A dear sister in the Lord, Mrs. C. Nuzumwrote a teaching early in the twentieth centurycalled “Resisting the Devil”. Holding theBlood of Jesus is in all actuality resisting thedevil until you gain the victory. The real battleis NOT GIVING UP!
Offensive WeaponsHolding the BloodShe wrote, “Faith in the Blood of Jesus, and in what Godhas said in His Word, when exercised in testimonyagainst the devil, will always cause him to flee. FirstPeter 5:9 says, we are to be steadfast in resisting thedevil.We are never once to think he CAN remain or keep evilupon us, because God has said that if we resist him heWILL flee, and God’s Word CANNOT fail. So there isonly one thing to see to, and that is to resist the deviluntil he goes, be the time long or short Your own mouth can hasten the victory greatly. God saysin Mark 11:23, you shall have what you say if you do notdoubt. Say, “I refuse to have this sickness,” no matterhow much Satan tries to make you feel or see it ”
Offensive WeaponsHolding the BloodAll the “mountains” in your life are prime candidates for theprinciple of holding the Blood of Jesus! There is one caveat tothis; the Blood is not effective IF there is open or hidden SIN inyour life.Disobedience or rebellion to God’s known will for your life willshut it down. For example, you know it’s a sin to watch ungodlyTV shows, you feel convicted every time you turn it on, but youcontinue to do so. You are guilty of disobedience and rebellion.Satan has a clear cut case against you to hold back your victory.God is not obligated to bring victory to the rebellious ordisobedient.You can plead the blood, hold the blood, smear the blood all overthe place and it won’t change anything. You must get the sin outof the camp to be victorious in the Kingdom of God.
Offensive WeaponsHolding the BloodRemember this: EVERY victory, everyblessing from God is a fight. Satan doesnot want God to get any glory and he isgoing to hold on until he can’t hold onany longer.HE HAS TO OUTLAST US, not US outlasthim! He should be the one on thedefensive. We have the dominion now,because we have the Blood of Jesus!
Offensive WeaponsWithout the Blood of JesusBe encouraged beloved, to use ALL the tools and weapons thatJesus bought for us with His Precious Blood so many yearsago! We are overcomers through His Blood.The Blood of Jesus Christ is literally the life blood of theChristian walk. It is through the Blood that all healing comeswhether it is inner healing, physical healing or deliverancefrom the oppression of the devil.I encourage all of you to make every effort to learn everythingyou can about the Blood of Jesus beyond what has beendiscussed here in this school. Seek the Lord’s counsel on thesubject. Let Him make the Blood more real to you than youever thought possible. Without the Precious Blood of Jesus,there is NO hope.
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)The Bible calls the Word of God His Sword. It hasthe power to change situations 180 degrees to ourgood when we take it seriously and use it as aweapon.God is not a namby pamby God. When it comes tothe souls of men, He is all LOVE towards us. Thisis the age of grace where His arms are extendedsaying “whosoever will—come!”When it comes to rebels, whether they are spiritbeings or human beings—He is a Man of War.Jesus is the Captain of the Lord’s Armies.
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) Exodus 15:3-4 says “The LORD is a Man of War;the LORD is His name, Pharoah’s chariots and hishost has He cast into the sea; his chosen captainsalso are sunk in the Red Sea.” God went to war for Moses and the children ofIsrael right there at the Red Sea. He totallydefeated their great enemy: Pharoah. God is VERY active in the lives of His people if onlywe would let Him! He is in a COVENANT with us,which means that OUR enemies are HIS enemiesand His enemies are our enemies! We give Himour ALL and He gives us His ALL—Jesus!
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) Joshua 5:13-15 says “When Joshua was by Jericho,he looked up, and behold, a Man stood near himwith His drawn sword in His hand. And Joshuawent to Him and said to Him, Are you for us or forour adversaries? And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of theLord’s hosts have I now come. And Joshua fell onhis face to Him. What says my Lord to Hisservant? And the Prince of the Lord’s host said to Joshua,Loose your shoes from off your feet, for the placewhere you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.”
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) Notice that the “Man” in these verses iscapitalized. Who does that say this Man is?It is Jesus! Jesus Christ is our Commanderin Chief! I want you to get it into your spirit that youare never alone in your struggles. When youcall on the Name of the Lord, He comes tohelp you with all the resources of heaven. And one of those resources is HIS WORDwhich is the Sword of the Spirit!
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) How do we use the Sword of the Spirit? Weuse it with our MOUTH. We speak out theWord of God over our situation. You find the scriptures in the Word—led bythe Holy Spirit—and then you take thescriptures that He gives you because when Hegives you the scriptures they become ALIVEor Rhema words. Faith Words. The Sword IS the Rhema Word of God forYOUR situation—yes just for YOU!
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) Isaiah 55:11 says “So shall My word be thatgoes forth out of My mouth; it shall notreturn to Me void [without producing anyeffect, useless], but it shall accomplish thatwhich I please and purpose, and it shallprosper in the thing for which I sent it.” What is the Bible? The Word of God. Itcomes straight from God’s mouth. It standsto reason that speaking God’s Word is notgoing to be a futile effort!
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) Here is a sample prayer that pray over myday I before I leave the house every morning:Father I come before You in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ; Yeshua! Through HisPrecious Blood I come and ask for forgiveness for all my sins and I ask to be washed inHis Precious Blood today! Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Create in me a cleanheart today and renew a right spirit within me O Lord My God! Please set a watch overmy mouth and a guard over my lips that I won’t sin against You with my mouth. Fatherthis day I surrender everything to You today. I choose to obey Your every command, Yourevery wish and Your every want for this day in my life. Use me O Lord to plant, to weed,to prune, to water, and to harvest in Your white harvest fields. Father let the brilliantlight of Heaven shine in my realm today. Let my family, friends and enemies all betouched today by the brilliant light of Your love.In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I take authority over my realm today. I takedominion over all the power of Satan and his forces ranged against me! I draw abloodline around my mind, will, emotions, and physical body in the Name of Jesus! Idraw a bloodline around all my possessions and my work place, my position on the joband everything associated with my position at MWV. I decree and declare that no demonor fallen angel can cross the Bloodline drawn with the Blood of the Lamb! Father I askfor the Host of Heaven to come to my aid to trample the enemy underfoot that is ranged
Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) ALL SPIRITUAL WARFARE IS FOUGHTWITH THE WORDS THAT COME OUT OFOUR MOUTH. THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT IS GOD’SWORD SPOKEN OUT OF OUR MOUTH INFAITH OVER THE SITUATION.
Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit Yes, praying in the Holy Spirit is a verypowerful weapon that we have to wagespiritual warfare. Satan can’t understand the heavenly prayerlanguage. It is between us and the Godheadand Satan is no longer privy to the plans ofGod.
Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit There are several important reasons weshould pray in the Holy Spirit—that is in ourheavenly prayer language. Romans 8:26 “So too the Holy Spirit comes to our aidand bears us up in our weakness; for we do not knowwhat prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as weought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet oursupplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakableyearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.” The Holy Spirit is our intercessor! When wepray in the Spirit, it is Him at work on behalf ofthe situation!
Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit Jude 1:20 says “But you, beloved, buildyourselves up on your most holy faith [makeprogress, rise like an edifice higher and higher],praying in the Holy Spirit.” We are strengthened in our entire beingwhen we pray in the Spirit. Have you everbeen dog tired and prayed in the Spirit for awhile and felt refreshed and strengthened?
Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit I Corinthians 14:4 says He who speaks in a[strange] tongue edifies and improves himself, buthe who prophesies edifies and improves the churchand promotes growth [in Christian wisdom, piety,holiness and happiness].” He is talking about our private prayerlanguage that we receive after the Baptism inthe Holy Spirit. This language EDIFIES andIMPROVES us!
Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit Galatians 5:16 says “But I say, walk and live[habitually] in the Holy Spirit [responsive to andcontrolled and guided by the Spirit]; then you willcertainly not gratify the cravings and desires of theflesh.” Praying in the Spirit helps us put our fleshdown. It helps us walk and live habitually inGod’s presence. How cool is that?
Offensive WeaponsPraise & Worship Praise and worship is a part of warfare. Itdeclares the greatness and the power of ourGod. It builds faith in Him. It increases ourintimacy with Him. When the praises go up--the glory comesdown!
Offensive WeaponsPraise & Worship King Jehoshaphat went to war one day andthe praise and worship team were on point! Let’s read II Chronicles 20 1-22 Notice verse 22 “And when they began to singand to praise, the Lord set ambushmentsagainst the men of Ammon, Moab andMount Seir who had come against Judah,and they were self-slaughtered.”
Offensive WeaponsPraise & Worship When you break out the weapon of praiseand worship in your battle, you are declaringyour faith and confidence in God’s ability andwillingness to give you the victory—no matterhow long it takes. Praise and worship makes it more difficultfor Satan to convince you to give up the fight. Praise and worship brings the presence ofGod! Devils flee in the presence of the King!
Offensive WeaponsThe Secret Weapon of Repentance– Repentance is a weapon? An offensive weapon?YES! And a very powerful weapon at that!– Repentance is agreeing with the adversaryquickly. It is putting any sin or mistake underthe Blood of Jesus where it is completelydissolved as if it never existed.– Repentance infuriates Satan because it causeshim to lose case after case against mankind.– Are you up against a brick wall? Examineyourself for sinful attitudes that are blockingyou and REPENT!
Offensive WeaponsThe Secret Weapon of Repentance– Here are some scriptures on repentance andGod’s response to it:– 2 Chronicles 7:14– I John 1:9– Acts 3:19– Proverbs 28:13– James 4:8-10– Matthew 5:25

By cultivating the fruit of theSpirit. Agape love cause us to rise above it alleven while we are in the middle of it.
