mounting instructionsWarning!It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the shockabsorber/front fork/steering damper.6Warning!If working on a raised vehicle, ensure it is securelysupported so that it will not tip.Note!When working on this product, always see the VehicleService Manual for vehicle specific procedures andimportant data.1Raise the vehicle, use jack stands.2Remove the front wheels.Caution!Support the wheel hubs on each side of the vehicle notto damage the brake hoses.3Remove the anti roll bar link, brake hoseattachment and PASM wires, if any.Note!If the vehicle is equipped with PASM dampers, disablethe PASM function in the ECU to avoid error codes fromappearing.4Remove the brake caliper and support it notto damage the brake hose. We recommend tosupport the brake caliper with a piece of bentwelding rod.5Loosen the lower and upper strut attachmentbolts. Remove the original struts from thevehicle.6Cut the dust boot 62 mm from the lower endaccording to the figure.2/8

mounting instructions7Assemble the shock absorber according to the7figure. Install the Öhlins McPherson struts onthe vehicle according to the vehicle servicemanual. If the vehicle is equipped with PASM,carefully shrink the heat shrinkable end capOriginal topmount, spacerand nutSpring seatover the PASM connector to protect it.Elastic spacerNote!Note how the ABS cord is placed on the original shockabsorber. If the ABS cord bracket is needed place thebracket according to the figure 7b.Note!Open the rebound adjuster and compress the shockabsorber. With the shock absorber compressed, closethe rebound adjuster before installing it to the vehicle.8Raise the wheel hub with a jack to ensure thatthe height adjuster is correctly seated on topof the hub carrier/upright.Plastic spacer9Lower spring seatTighten:Lock ringLower spring seat and lock ring: 50-60 NmLock nut: 35-40 NmNote!When tightening the top mount nut, the shock absorbershaft must be held in position with a 6 mm Allen key.Caution!7bEnsure that all screws are tightened to the correcttorque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement ofthe shock absorber/front fork/steering damper when thesuspension is fully compressed or extended.11Make sure that all removed parts are reinstalled in the same way as they were beforethe installation of the Öhlins shock absorbers.3/8

Remove the carpeting section behind the rear seat to reach theAdjusterupper shock absorber attachments.Lock nut3WasherRemove the lower and upper attachmentsOriginal topmountand remove the original shock absorbers. Ifremoving PASM dampers, disable the PASMfunction in the ECU to avoid error codes toAdapter ringappear. Please contact a Porsche servicecenter.Elastic spacer4Cut the dust boot 82 mm from the lower endaccording to the figure.5Assemble the shock absorber according tothe figure. Install the Öhlins shock absorberson the vehicle according to the vehicle servicemanual. If the vehicle is equipped with PASM,carefully shrink the heat shrinkable end capPlastic spacerover the PASM connector to protect it.SpacerNote!Rubber spacerInstall the boot between the rubber spacer and thebump stop.
