These systems have beentested and adjusted to the interior of your Porscheand the appropriate child weight groups.Other systems have not been tested and could entailan increased risk of injury.The use of infant or child restraints is required by lawin all 50 US states and the Canadian provinces. Thechild restraint system should be one that complieswith U.S. Federal/Canadian Motor Vehicle SafetyStandards and should be secured by a lap belt portionof a lap-shoulder belt.All child restraint systems are designed to be securedin vehicle seats by lapbelts or the lapbelt portion of alap-shoulder belt.e Always observe the separate installationinstructions for your child seat.Improper use of ChildRestraintChildren could be endangered in a crash if their childrestraints are not properly secured in the vehicle.e Make sure that all child restraints are properlysecured.DANGERA statement by the seat manufacturer of compliancewith this federal standard can be found on theinstruction label on the restraint and in theinstruction manual provided with the restraint.2Child Restraint on thePassenger‘s SeatThe use of a child restraint system in the passenger’sseat can result in serious personal injury or death tothe child from an airbag deployment.To reduce risk of injury from an inflating airbag in anaccident, Porsche strongly recommends:f Please see the Owner’s Manual chapter “PASSAIR BAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOTLIGHT UP”.DANGERe When using an infant or child restraint system, besure to follow all manufacturer's instructions oninstallation and use.e Infants and small children should neither be heldon the lap, nor should they share a seat belt withanother occupant while the vehicle is in motion.e Children too big for child restraint systems mustuse regular seat belts. A shoulder belt can be usedproviding it does not cross the face or the neck ofthe child.e Choose a child restraint system according to theweight of the child.e Child restraint systems that are damaged or havebeen heavily stressed in an accident must bereplaced immediately.e Children could be endangered in a crash if theirchild restraints are not properly secured in thevehicle.e Do not adhere objects to child restraint systemsor cover them with other materials.Direction of installation for childrestraint systemsGroup 0 and 0 : Children up to 29 lbs (13 kg)Children of this weight must be transported in arestraint system which is installed on the passenger‘sseat facing rearward.Group I: Children in between 20 lbs (9 kg) and 40 lbs(18 kg)Children of this weight are transported in childrestraint systems facing forward.Group II: Children in between 33 lbs (15 kg) and55 lbs (25 kg)Children of this weight are transported in childrestraint systems facing forward.Group III: Children in between 49 lbs (22 kg) and80 lbs (36 kg)Children of this weight are transported in childrestraint systems facing forward.e The passenger’s seat must be adjusted to theupper rear position.

You canrecognize a full bucket seat by the fact that thebackrest of a full bucket seat cannot be foldeddown.e Follow all child restraint instructions andwarnings in this manual.DANGERChild Restraint on thePassenger SeatThe use of a child restraint system in the passengerseat can result in serious personal injury or death tothe child from an airbag deployment.To reduce risk of injury from an inflating airbag in anaccident, Porsche strongly recommends:f Please see the Owner’s Manual chapter. “PASSAIR BAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOTLIGHT UP“.DANGERf Please see Owner’s Manual chapter “CHILDRESTRAINT SYSTEMS (CHILD SEATS)“.Child Seat DetectionFaultWhen the ignition is on and the up to one-year oldchild is seated in the child restraint system on thepassenger seat the indicator light PASS AIR BAG OFFmust be on.If the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator light does not lightup, it could indicate a fault in the system or the childseat doesn‘t fit and the airbag could inflate in a collision, placing the child at risk of death or severe injuryfrom the inflating airbag.In this case:e Do not install a child restraint system on thepassenger‘s seat.e Have the fault remedied at your nearest authorized Porsche dealer.e Contact your authorized Porsche dealer.DANGERChild restraint system for children older thanone yearYour vehicle is equipped with occupant sensing forthe passenger's seat in accordance with U.S. FederalMotor Vehicle Safety Standard 208. Depending onthe weight, body positioning and shape acting on thepassenger’s seat, the passenger’s airbag willautomatically be switched on or off.Small adult passengersWhen an small adult passenger is seated on thepassenger side, ensure the following:– PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator light does not lightup.– The knees are bend comfortably over the edge ofthe seat.– The shoulder belt crosses between the smalladult passengers neck and arm.– The lap part of the seat belt is as low as possible,touching the small adult passengers thighs.– The small adult passenger can stay seated for thewhole trip.Adult Use of PassengerSeatWhen the ignition is on and the small adult passengeris seated on the passenger seat, the indicator lightPASS AIR BAG OFF must be off.If the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator light lights up, itcould indicate a fault in the system.In this case:e Have the fault remedied at your nearest authorized Porsche dealer.DANGERChild restraint system for up to one-year oldchildrenWhen an up to one-year old child is seated in thechild restraint system, the front airbag is automatically deactivated on the passenger side.e Make sure that the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicatorlight lights up, if not contact your authorizedPorsche dealer.e Adjust the passenger’s seat as far away from theairbag as possible.f Please see the Owner’s Manual chapter „Seats“.3

Under no circumstances are they to beused for adults safety belts or harnesses.e Do not misuse the child restraint anchorages.Only attach one child seat tether per anchorage.e They are not designed to withstand loadsimposed by adults.WARNINGAn inproperly installed child seat could increase therisk of serious injury or death. Make sure that thechild seat is properly secured.e Follow all child seat manufacturer's instructionson installation and use.Foldable seatImproper Use of ChildRestrainte Follow all child restraint instructions andwarnings in this manual.e Make sure that the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicatorlight lights up, if not contact your authorizedPorsche dealer.DANGERFull bucket seatImproper Use of ChildRestrainte Porsche does not recommend that child restraintsystems be used on front passenger full bucketseats. You can recognize a full bucket seat by thefact that the backrest of a full bucket seat cannotbe folded down.If you chose to use a child seat on a front passengerfull bucket seat:e Follow all child restraint instructions andwarnings in this manual.e Make sure that the full bucket seat is in therearmost position.e Allow sufficient time to properly attach the TopTether of the child seat to the anchor pointlocated on the top of the rear shelf behind thefront passenger seat.e Make sure that the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicatorlight is illuminated once the child seat is installed.If not contact your authorized Porsche dealer.DANGER4Installing a child seat with Top Tether foradditional safetyTop Tether child seats are the best option formounting a child seat in your Porsche.Such Top Tether child seats have to be installed byusing the vehicle seatbelt system to securely fix thechild restraint system to the passenger seat and theTop Tether attached and tightened to additionallystabilize the child restraint system. Use only childrestraint systems with Top Tether recommended byPorsche.These systems have been tested and adjusted to theinterior of your Porsche and the appropriate childweight groups.Other systems have not been tested and could entailan increased risk of injury.e To ensure proper installation, see your authorizedPorsche dealer.e Always observe the separate installation instructions for your child seat.Abb. 1: Foldable seat anchor pointInstalling Top Tether with foldable seatWhen using a child restraint system with a TopTether on a foldable seat, the anchor point providedbehind the passenger seat on top of the rear shelfmust be used to secure the Top Tether.1. Adjust the passenger‘s seat to the upper rearposition. Adjust the driver‘s seat to the rearmostposition.

Make sure that the Top Tether length is as long aspossible.3. Place the child seat on the foldable seat. Makesure that the child restraint system is in fullcontact with the seat cushion.4. Enter the vehicle from the drivers side and kneeon the driver seat in order to access the anchorpoint provided behind the passenger seat on topof the rear shelf.8. Secure the child seat using the seat belt.f Please see chapter „Installing a Child Seatwith the seat belt and activating theautomatic locking retractor“ on page 6.9. Once the child seat is installed, ensure thepassenger airbag system PASS AIR BAG OFFlight is illuminated on the indicator light in theoverhead console. If not contact your authorizedPorsche dealer.2. Make sure that the Top Tether length is as long aspossible.3. Place the child seat on the full bucket seat. Makesure that the child restraint system is in fullcontact with the seat cushion.4. Fasten the child seat’s Top Tether to the anchorpoint. Due to the location of the anchor point, thismay require additional effort in order to ensurethe tether strap is properly attached to theanchor. Make sure that the top tether strap is nottwisted.6. Move the passenger‘s seat backrest into anupright position.7. Tighten the tether strap in accordance with thechild seat manufacturer’s instructions. Eliminateany slack in the tether.Installing Top Tether with Full Bucket SeatWhen using a child restraint system with a TopTether on a full bucket seat, the anchor point locatedbehind the passenger seat on top of the rear shelfmust be used to secure the Top Tether. Allow sufficient time for proper installation of the child seat.Proper installation is necessary to provide optimalsafety for the child. Do not rush the installation.1. Adjust the passenger‘s seat in the front andupmost position. Adjust the driver‘s seat in therear and downmost position.5. Fasten the child seat’s Top Tether to the anchorpoint. Due to the location of the anchor point, thismay require additional effort in order to ensurethe tether strap is properly attached to theanchor. Make sure that the top tether strap is nottwisted.6. Adjust the passenger‘s seat to the upper rearposition.7. Tighten the tether strap in accordance with thechild seat manufacturer’s instructions. Eliminateany slack in the tether.5

Once thechild seat is installed, make sure that the fullbucket seat must not be moved anymore.f Please see chapter „Installing a Child Seatwith the seat belt and activating theautomatic locking retractor“ on page 6.out, the lockable retractor is not activated. Pullthe seat belt all the way out, and repeatsteps 4 and 5.6. Make sure not to move the passenger seat afterinstalling the child seat and activating the lockingretractor. Otherwise, the seat belt system or thechild seat might be damaged by the strongly fixedseat belt.9. Once the child seat is installed, ensure thepassenger airbag system PASS AIR BAG OFFlight is illuminated on the indicator light in theoverhead console. If not contact your authorizedPorsche dealer.Releasing the seat belt1. Unbuckle the seat belt latch.2. Then make certain that the belt has fullyretracted. At this point the automatic lockingfeature will be disengaged.Automatic locking retractorThe seat belts for the passenger seat is equippedwith an automatic locking retractor for securing thechild restraint system. When activated, this retractorallows you to securely fasten the child restraintsystem in place so that inadvertent movements willnot occur. Before transporting a child on thepassenger seat:Adjusting Child SeatDANGERAfter Fasteninge After fastening the child restraint system, do notadjust the seat in any direction.Moving the seat could tighten the seat belt againstthe child restraint and cause the PASS AIR BAG OFFindicator light to go off and the airbag becomesactivated.e Check the condition of the passenger airbagsystem shown by the indicator light in theoverhead console, if the light is not illuminatedcontact our Porsche dealer.6Abb. 5: PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator lightInstalling a Child Seat with the seat belt andactivating the automatic locking retractor1. If a child restraint system must be installed on thefront passenger seat, adjust the passenger's seatas far away from the airbag as possible.f Please see the Owner’s Manual chapter „Seats“.2. Position the child seat according to the childseat’s manufacturer instructions and follow allinstructions provided by the manufacturer wheninstalling the car seat.3. Pull the seat belt retractor completely out. At thispoint the locking mechanism is activated.4. Insert the seat belt tongue into the buckle andmake certain that it is properly latched. Make nomore adjustments to the seat.5. Allow the seat belt to retract until it is tight on thechild restraint system. You may further tightenthe belt by pulling on it to allow more of it toretract.
