If God is only an abstract idea, theory, or someone found in the pages of a book, there is nomotivation for a relationship and no desire to seek him. Godneeds to be real in order for faith to be real. It’s all about thejourney.St. Augustine reminds us that “to fall in love with God is thegreatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; tofind Him the greatest human achievement.” We strive aftermany things and mercy is not always one of them. We thinkthat we can find fulfillment and healing in other things only todiscover that we are still short and empty. From the momenthuman beings were created, God has been calling us andseeking us. He has been walking right beside the humanstory from the minute He first breathed life into the firsthuman soul. Are we able to recognize God as He walks withus? At some point we have to realize that there is only oneway to satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart andthat is in relationship with our Creator. We are called to this. However, we make the huge error of thinking that what weare hearing is coming from somewhere else. We becomeconfused. Every human being would certainly profit withwisdom if they realized Who calls them and to Whom theybelong. Then and only then will we realize that it is only our DivineMaster who can give us true vision and heal us. Once werecognize and reach out for the merciful presence of ourloving Maker, we will be able to see with our soul, understanding the true nature and depth of all things. God’smercy is always available. It doesn’t matter how far we havestrayed or how blind we become, God patiently waits toconsole us, guide us and heal us. All we need to do is desireHim. Once we reach out, we also realize that there is nogreater love to be found than God’s, no human adventurethat comes even close tothe thrill of a spiritualsearch, and no humanachievement even remotelyas satisfying as union withHim. This is where webelong. This is salvation.Come celebrate the St Cloud AmericanLegion's 75th Anniversary and Veteran'sDay on Nov 14, 2021 at the Cabaret, StCloud. HolyLand Catholic Parishes6With the merger into Our Lady of the Holyland, the threeprevious parishes of St Isidore, St John the Baptist andSt Mary all became part of something larger. Years earlierwhen St Cloud, St Joseph and Holy Cross merged they toobecame part of something larger than the three previousparishes. Yet even larger than all of us is our membershipas a part of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The long tradition in the Catholic Church is for Priests towork in Parishes under the direction of the Archbishop.Priests serve the Parish at the will of the Archbishop who isable to change priests whenever he believes that it is time tochange. Most Bishops today use a number of years oftenreferred to as the “term” of the assignment to the Parish. Inthe Archdiocese of Milwaukee a term is often six years withan additional three year extension possible. As a Capuchin Ican also by my vows be asked to change ministries by theProvincial leader of the Friars. This can happen wheneverthe Provincial believes that it is time to change. In mostcases those changes will work together and the Provincialand the Bishop agree together that it is time to change. However, in cases of need, or health, or suitability, it ispossible for the leader of the Capuchins, the Provincial, todecide that a change is needed even if the Bishop requeststhat the priest remain in their ministry. It is a live expressionof Collegiality in the Catholic Church. It is an example of twoparts of the Church working together to provide for theneeds of the Church in the best possible ways.Ultimately this is an ongoing and regular part of how Bishopswork with Priests who belong to Religious Communities likeCapuchins, or Dominicans, or Salvatorians, or Jesuits etc. Both recognize the needs of the Parish, the Diocese and theReligious Community. Collegiality is an ongoing regular partof how we work together. Each Diocese or Archdiocese hasthirtieth Sunday in ordinary timesimilar yet varied processes andguidelines for performing parishministry in their territory. As aCapuchin I have worked in Parishes infive other Archdiocese or Dioceses, Ihave been responsible for theparishes in two of those locationsbefore returning to this area andjoining the Parish of Our Lady of theHolyland. Recently I’ve been workingwith the Archdiocese of Milwaukeethrough their orientation for Priests new to parish work in thisArchdiocese. It is mostly a process of translation. Parishwork around the upper Mid-west is very similar from place toplace, what things or types of projects are named does vary.I have found the orientation meetings to be very helpful. As parish staff members and school staff members weregularly receive assistance from the staff of theArchdiocese in Milwaukee with how to complete reports orgather needed information in our work with the parish andschool. Their guidance is used almost weekly for some partsof our ministry with all of you. One of the ways that we canparticipate in providing this needed help to Our Lady of theHolyland and to other parishes inthe Archdiocese is to participate inthe Annual Catholic StewardshipAppeal. Thank You for consideringthis way of helping us make allthings work together for the good ofthe Parish.Fr. RandyEucharistic AdorationAll SaintsPlease make adoration a part of your weekly life.
