The Jezebel and Ahab SpiritsKaren Connell(2 Cor 10:4-5) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal butmighty in God for pulling down strongholds [how?] [by] castingdown arguments Strongholds ochuroma (okh-oo'-ro-mah) CWSD: Usedmetaphorically of any strong points or arguments (i.e.accusations, leis, doubts) in which one trusts a stronghold isa fortress or fortified place from which a ruler can rule in orderto hold on to an “area” (of iniquity and sin) in a person or a“territory.” Remember, Strongholds can be GOOD or BAD!!(Ps 18:2) The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and mysavior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and mystronghold. NLTKing David, Apathy and BathshebaKing David’s relationship with Bathsheba is a perfect exampleof how the Jezebel influence is able to gain a foothold in someone whois a strong believer andlover of God—throughapathy (Read: 2 Sam11:1-12:24). The Ahabspiritual influence ofapathy was used torelease the S.A.P. or (Spiritual Atmospheric Pressure) of Jezebel’s“harlotry” influence upon King David (2 Sam 11:1) The followingspring, the time of year whenkings go to war. David sentJoab and the Israelite army todestroy the Ammonites butDavidstayedbehindinJerusalem.16

Thus, the pressure ofguilt or condemnation over this lack of wanting to go to war. camefrom the Jezebel influence and created discontentment anddissatisfaction (this is the root for depression) in David causing himto look for something to amuseAMMONITESand please him. He was a man ofpassion he was used toexcitement he was bored and he (Gen 19:35-36, 38) So thatwas looking for something to night they (Lot’s Jezebelexcite him. Of course Satan saw influenced daughters) gotto it that he found just what he Lot drunk with wine again,and the younger daughterwas looking for:wentinandhad(2 Sam 11:2) Late one intercourse with him. It was the time for war not a time for comfort and ease (2 Sam 11:1) It was spring, the time of year when kings go to war.David was supposed to be warring against the very thing Jezebel17

Lot was father of the Ammonites who became enemies ofthe people of Israel. The Israelites were instructed by God not tofellowship with them. (Deut 23:2-4). The Ammonites had a throneerected to demonic rulers (pagan gods) that released curses upon themthrough false prophesy and sexual perversion [two of Jezebel traits].(Deut 23:2-4) "Those of illegitimate birth and their descendantsfor ten generations may not be included in the congregation of theLORD "No Ammonites or Moabites, or any of theirdescendants for ten generations, may be included in the assemblyof the LORD. They tried to hire Balaam son of Beor fromPethor in Aram-naharaim to curse you. NLTDavid sent Joab to do what he should have been doing warringagainst this Jezebel ruled nation of the AmmonitesPressure PatternNot doing what weknow we should bedoing alwaysproduces guilt. Thisin turn creatingfeelings ofdiscontentment anddissatisfactionfrustration (i.e.depressionpressure) (Ps94:21) “Theygather togetheragainst the life ofthe righteous, to condemn innocent blood.” This will opens thedoor to.18

(Ex 20:17)Apathy ignores boundaries and opens the door to temptation. Thesin of David illustrates this perfectly (James 1:14-16) But each one is tempted when he is drawn awayby his own forbidden desires and enticed Then, when desire hasconceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,brings forth death Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.David took the first step to gratifying his covetousness by focusingon forbidden pleasure, by watching Bathsheba bathe. Bath-Shebameans Bath: “apple of the eye” or something we find pleasure inseeing or looking at.Sheba literally refers to the number “7”—whichdenotes completion or fulfillment. David found pleasure in focusingin on what he should not have been focusing on. and he would notbe satisfied or comforted until he found fulfillment by having what hecoveted!(2 Sam 11:3-5) He sent someone to find out who shewas, and he was told, "She is Bathsheba the wife ofUriah the Hittite." .Then David sent for her; andwhen she came to the palace, he slept with her. Whenshe returned home Bathsheba discovered she waspregnant and sent a message to David. NLTJezebel CharacteristicsDavid illustrates how Jezebel causes those under its influence to“plot and plan” in order to get what they want or to “cover up”wrong looking deeds and motives by HYPOCRISY (i.e. pretending tohave good motives). (Read 1 Kings 21:7-14) about how Jezebel dealtwith Naboth, whose vineyard she and Ahab coveted).19

David even sent a gift to Uriah (i.e.flattery) after he had left the palace. But Uriahwouldn't go home When David heard what Uriahhad done, he summoned him and asked, "What's thematter with you? Why didn't you go home last nightafter being away for so long? (i.e. notice how he triedto put a Guilt trip on Uriah) " . Then David invitedhim to dinner and got him drunk(i.e.manipulation). But even then he couldn't get Uriahto go home to his wife. NLT20

The Jezebel and Ahab SpiritsKaren Connell David tried to cover up his sin of “covetousness” through flattery,guilt and manipulation, all of which are Jezebel tactics .he dideverything he could to get Uriah to go home and sleep withBathsheba. so her pregnancy would look like Uriah’s doing. When Uriah refused to be manipulated, David became desperateand secretly plotted as to how to get Uriah out of the way. He wasbeing driven by fear and guilt—giving the Jezebel spirit, (which is thespirit behind murder), more power in his life. Bathsheba’s husband’s name “Uriah” name means “the fire ofGod”.the fire of God represents the light of God bringing exposureand examination, and also represents the judgment or punishingconsequences for not allowing God’s exposure the Jezebel spiritdestroys our faith and therefore hates exposure and will fight everyway possible to keep from being exposure and destroyed.Jezebel Tactics ipulation)Slander; maligning, smearingreputationsLying victims of Jezebelreadily believe their own liesAccusations causing shameand l dependencyIt takes a prophet of God withapostolic authority to confront thisintimidating spirit Nathan was21Anyone who sees any ofthese Jezebel traits inoperation in their lives atany time need to comeclean and become 100%honest and confess everysinful Jezebel trait. Theseunconfessed sins feedunhealed wounds, whichare like garbage thatattracts and empowers thisspirit. Otherwise there isno freedom from theJezebel influence and thefamily and health cursesthat are associated withJezebel.

NLTNotice how David had a typical HYPOCRITICAL “Jezebelreaction” to the story Nathan told him about the sin that was in the lifeof “someone else”—his instant anger was quick to condemn with nomercy.(2 Sam 12:5-7) David was furious. "As surely as theLORD lives," he vowed, "any man who would do sucha thing deserves to die! .He must repay four lambs tothe poor man for the one he stole and for having nopity." .Then Nathan said to David, "You are that man!NLTDavid would have been willing to just pretend (HYPOCRICY)everything was ok, if it hadn’t been for being confronted by theprophet Nathan (Lit: his name means the one who gives or bringsforth). Like David people under the Jezebel influence flare up inanger when their guilt is triggered and they despise those who reflecttheir own sin (such as man in Nathan’s story who was cruel) thosewho do so become victimized by the Jezebel spirit’s lyingaccusations—and by—being slandered and persecuted.(2 Sam 11:27) David sent for Bathsheba and broughther to the palace, and she became one of his wives. Thenshe gave birth to a son. But the LORD was verydispleased with what David had done. NLTDavid tried to hide his sin, but God said the consequences for this“Jezebel” trait of trying to hide sin had to be “exposure” for thisbreaks the power of Jezebel! However, there are ALWAYSconsequences for sin, especially if you are a leader among the people,such as David was. God goes on to tell David what his painfulconsequences would be:22

Yousinned secretly, but I will dothis to you openly in the sightof all Israel. Then Davidconfessed to Nathan, "I havesinned against the LORD."Nathan replied, "Yes, but theLORD has forgiven you, andyou won't die for this sin. Butyou have given the enemies ofthe LORD great opportunityto despise and blasphemehim, so your child will die."After Nathan returned to hishome, the LORD madeBathsheba's baby deathly ill.NLTAccording to the Law David's sin required both he and Bathsheba beput to death:(Deut 22:22) "If a man is discovered committingadultery, both he and the other man's wife must bekilled. In this way, the evil will be cleansed fromIsrael. NLTThe consequences of being involved with the sins of Jezebel areREAL and they are not only devastating but also deadly. Theyinvolve: Health issues—physical —emotional and mental healthissues Bareness miscarriages, childhood diseases and prematuredeath. Remember David’s child died. God also told David ”Thecurse of adversity will come against you from your own house” God said his consequences would be that his children would be undera curse and there would be health issues that death. In other wordsthe Jezebel curse would be upon his generations (which only the blood23

Thisis the message from the Son of God, whose eyes arebright like flames of fire, whose feet are like polishedbronze You are permitting that woman — thatJezebel who calls herself a prophet — to lead myservants astray. She is encouraging them to worshipidols and commit sexual sin I gave her time torepent, but she would not turn away from herimmorality Therefore, I will throw her upon asickbed, and she will suffer greatly along with all whocommit adultery with her, unless they turn awayfrom all their evil deeds I will strike her childrenwith death. And all the churches will know that I amthe one who searches out the thoughts and intentionsof every person. And I will give to each of youwhatever you deserve. NLTBecause David knew and loved God, he accepted hisconsequences. It was his true repentance however, that opened thedoor to God’s mercy spared he and Bathsheba’s lives and his truerepentance also opened the door to God’s grace, which sustained himwhen he had to walk through the painful consequences of his sin (andthroughout his lifetime there were many—Just read David’s Psalms).Most assuredly God forgives our sin when we have genuinerepentance, but He also gives us His mercy and grace to endurewhatever just consequences we may have to walk through as a resultof that sin. Nowhere in God’s word are we promised to escape sinsconsequences, but what a comfort to know He is with us when wemust walk through those times.(Isa 43:1-3) "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I havecalled you by your name; You are Mine.When youpass through the waters, I will be with you; Andthrough the rivers, they shall not overflow you. Whenyou walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,24

For I am the Lordyour God.Humiliating Exposure and Honest Confession are the only waysto break the power of the Jezebel influence “Uriah’s” name means“the fire of God”.the fire of God represents the light of God bringingexposure and examination, and also represents the judgment orpunishing consequences for not allowing God’s exposure Jezebelhates exposure and will fight to destroy it.We must allow God to expose all Jezebel thoughts and motives thathave been operational. “I gave her time to repent, but she would not” people whoare not honest and who do not repent will not get free ofJezebel curses“ all the churches will know that I am the one who searchesout the thoughts and intentions [motives] of every person.”The reason humility is not easy, but essential in getting free from theJezebel spirit is that it works with the Leviathan spirit of pride (Job 41:1, 15,21-22) "Can you draw outLeviathan His rows of scales are his pride, Shutup tightly as with a seal for flames shoot from itsmouth. "The tremendous strength is in its neck NLT(Rev 12:3; 17:3-5)I saw a large red dragon withseven heads and ten horns, with seven crowns on hisheads There I saw a woman sitting on the scarletbeast that had seven heads and ten horns, writtenall over with blasphemies against God Thewoman was arrayed in purple and scarlet Amysterious name was written on her forehead:"Babylon the Great, Mother of All Harlots andObscenities in the World."25

Therefore, dealing with pride andbitterness is essential in destroying the Jezebel influence. Thisspiritual influence preys upon the righteous—in order to condemnthem (activate rejection—which in turn activates the bitter and pridecords) if this tactic goes undetected the influence will continue to bein our lives.(Eccl 4:12) And if one (Cord of rejection i.e. condemnation)prevails against him (lit: overcomes, defeats a person), two (thecords of Bitterness and Pride) shall withstand (withstand literallymeans will exercise authority over) him; and this threefold cord isnot quickly or easily broken.Nathan went on to tell David (2 Sam 12:14) But you havegiven the enemies of the LORD great opportunity to despise andblaspheme him This demonic duo of Jezebel and Ahab keeps those under itsinfluence operating in the deceptive sins of sorcery and harlotry (i.e.idolatry).David Confesses and Repents(2 Sam 12:13) Then David confessed to Nathan, "Ihave sinned against the Lord." Nathan replied, "Yes,but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won't die forthis sin.According to the law David should have been put to death but as aFather God loves us and is so ready to forgive and cleanse us fromall sin and demonic influences especially Jezebel and the sinsassociated with this spirit. But this can only happen IF we come cleanand truly have godly sorrow as that of King David had that leads togenuine repentance. Keep in mind anger is very intense under theJezebel spiritual influence, thus never forget Jesus said about anger(like that coming from the Jezebel influence) is as the sin of murder which is what David actually did commit.26
