About Our Race DirectorAs president of Track Shack Events, Jon Hughes directs the overall marketing effort as well as operationsand staff for his company. He has positioned the organization to offer the best in technology, marketingand management skills. Today, Track Shack Events produces over 40 events a year.Jon ran competitively in both high school and college. He has completed over a dozen marathons includingBoston, Berlin, Chicago and Marine Corps. Since the late 1970s, he has pioneered the organization ofathletic and community events, first in his home base of Central Florida and today throughout the world.Jon was one of the youngest inductees into the Florida Track & Field Hall of Fame, admitted in 1987 at theage of 29. Road Race Management named him Race Director of the Year in 1999. In 2009, Jon and his wifeBetsy were inducted into the Running USA Hall of Champions. USA Track & Field, the Pan American JuniorGames, the Governor of Florida, and the Grand Bahamas Promotions Board have also recognized him forhis outstanding leadership and organizational achievements.
