IF YOU LOVE ME, FEED MY SHEEP

IF YOU LOVE ME,FEED MY SHEEPThe 16th Sunday in Ordinary TimeJuly 17/18, 2021‘Hunger’ is defined as ‘a craving or urgent needfor food or specific nutrient’ and ‘an uneasysensation caused by a lacking.’ It’s thatuncomfortable feeling when you knowsomething is missing that should be there. Andwhile most of us are aware of how so manypeople in the world (and our own community),sadly, go to bed each night with an empty belly, isn’t it safe to say that each of us goes to bedhungry, as well? We could have housed an entirepizza before hitting the hay, but maybe we’rehungry for love. Maybe we’re hungry foracceptance. Maybe we’re hungry for respect.Maybe we’re hungry for relationships andinteractions. Maybe we’re hungry for God.Just like stomachs, hearts can be hungry,as well. The trick is knowing what to feed itto satisfy that hunger. Thankfully, as a parishcommunity, we make it our mission to ensureall are fed in mind, body, and soul. Whether it’sJesus in the Eucharist as food for the journeyto Heaven, our weekly community dinners, sharing knowledge of our faith at ourDiscipleship Program, or fellowship andlending an ear, we believe no one should feellike he or she is lacking. We’re a family, andthere is always a seat at our table. Best of all, there’s something on the menu for everyone.‘You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.’Our Lady of Charity Parish260 Okell 1901 South ParkBuffalo, NY 14220(716) 822-5962 OurLadyOfCharityParish.com

Buffalo, NYJuly 17/18, 2021From Fr. Steve.Dear Family,Psalm 23 is one of the most well-known and beloved of all the Psalms. “The Lord is my shepherd;I shall not want. In verdant pastures He gives me repose; beside restful waters He leads me; Herefreshes my soul”. There are so many prayers and Scripture verses that we can pray that giveus comfort, but this one is a favorite of so many people. It speaks of God’s promise to us that Heis always there to lead and guide us to calmness, even at the most turbulent times of our life, ifwe just let Him! We hear this proclaimed not only in our Psalm this weekend, but also in the FirstReading and Gospel Reading. God, in the reading for the Book of Jeremiah says that He will appoint good shepherds. Jesus, in our Gospel, is teaching the apostles how to be good shepherdsfor His people. Jesus’ heart went out to the people who were not being led by true shepherds andit still does today. We need to pray for good men to answer God’s call in their life to become Hisshepherds for our day and time. We need many men to answer the call, but more importantly weneed good, holy, faithful men! The quality is much more important than the quantity! I think everyone can agree to that! So let us pray always to the one True Shepherd that He call and protectgood men to serve our Church as priests and deacons!Praised Be Jesus Christ Now and Forever!!!Father SteveFrom the Diocese.UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURTFOR THE WESTERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORKIn re The Diocese of Buffalo N.Y.Case No. 20-10322PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT, On February 28, 2020, The Diocese of Buffalo N.Y., (“Diocese”) filed for protection under chapter 11 of title 11 of the United States Code (the “Bankruptcy Code”).The Bankruptcy Court has established August 14, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. (prevailing Eastern time) as the deadline to file proofs of claim against the Diocese (the “Bar Date”).If you have a claim against the Diocese, including, without limitation, a claim related to sexual abuse committed by any person connected with the Diocese, you must file a claim on or before the Bar Date. Please visit https://case.stretto.com/dioceseofbuffalo or call (855) 292-7696 for more information on how tofile your proof of claim.IF YOU DO NOT TIMELY FILE A PROOF OF CLAIM, YOU MAY FORFEIT YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE ON ANYPLAN OF REORGANIZATION AND TO SHARE IN ANY DISTRIBUTIONS TO CREDITORS IN CONNECTIONWITH THE DIOCESE’S CHAPTER 11 CASE.2
