THE BOOK OF ENOCHTHEBOOK OF ENOCHINTRODUCTION ( From Wikipedia )The Book of Enoch (also 1Enoch) is an ancient Jewish religious work, ascribed to Enoch, the greatgrandfather of Noah. It is not regarded as scripture by Jews or any Christian group, apart from theEthiopian Orthodox Church, which to this day regards it to be canonical.Western scholars currently assert that its older sections (mainly in the Book of the Watchers) datefrom about 300 BC and the latest part (Book of Parables) probably was composed at the end of the1st century BC. However, Ethiopian scholars generally hold that Ge'ez is the language of theoriginal from which the Greek and Aramaic copies were made, pointing out that it is the onlylanguage in which the complete text has yet been found. It is wholly extant only in the Ge'ez language, with Aramaic fragments from the Dead Sea Scrollsand a few Greek and Latin fragments. There is no consensus among Western scholars about theoriginal language: some propose Aramaic, others Hebrew, while the probable thesis according to E.Isaac is that 1Enoch, as Daniel, was composed partially in Aramaic and partially in Hebrew.A short section of 1Enoch (1En1:9) is quoted in the New Testament (Letter of Jude 1:14-15), andthere apparently attributed to "Enoch the Seventh from Adam" (1En60:8). It is argued that all thewriters of the New Testament were familiar with it and were influenced by it in thought and diction. The first part of Book of Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers, the angels who fathered theNephilim. The remainder of the book describes Enoch's visits to Heaven in the form of travels, visions and dreams, and his revelations. The book consists of five quite distinct major sections (see each section for details):The Book of the Watchers (1 Enoch 1 – 36)The Book of Parables of Enoch (1 Enoch 37 – 71) (Also called the Similitudes of Enoch)The Astronomical Book (1 Enoch 72 – 82) (Also called the Book of the Heavenly Luminaries orBook of Luminaries. )The Book of Dream Visions (1 Enoch 83 – 90) (Also called the Book of Dreams)The Epistle of Enoch (1 Enoch 91 – 108)The shared view is that these five sections were originally independent works (with different datesof composition), themselves a product of much editorial arrangement, and were only later redactedinto what we now call 1Enoch. This view is now opposed only by a few authors who maintain theliterary integrity of the Book of Enoch, one of the most recent (1990) being the Ethiopian WossenieYifru. Józef Milik has suggested that the Book of Giants found amongst the Dead Sea Scrollsshould be part of the collection, appearing after the Book of Watchers in place of the Book ofParables, but for various reasons Milik's theory has not been widely accepted.Canonicity in JudaismAlthough evidently widely known at the time of the Development of the Jewish Bible canon,1Enoch was excluded from both the formal canon of the Tanakh and the typical canon of theSeptuagint and therefore also the writings known today as the Apocrypha. One possible reason forJewish rejection of the book might be the textual nature of several early sections of the book whichmake use of material from the Torah, for example 1En1 is a midrash of Deuteronomy 33. Thecontent, particularly detailed description of fallen angels, would also be a reason for rejection fromthe Hebrew canon at this period - as illustrated by the comments of Trypho the Jew when debatingwith Justin Martyr on this subject. Trypho: "The utterances of God are holy, but your expositionsare mere contrivances, as is plain from what has been explained by you; nay, even blasphemies, foryou assert that angels sinned and revolted from God." (Dialogue 79)4translation by M. Knibb of the Ethiopian text in theS.O.A.S. Library at the University of London.2Section IBOOK OF THE WATCHERS.1 Contemplate all the events in the sky;how the lights in the sky do not change theircourses, how each rises and sets in order, eachat its proper time, and they do not transgresstheir law.2.2 Consider the earth and understand from thework that is done upon it, from the beginningto the end, that no work of God changes as itbecomes manifest.2.3 Consider the summer and the winter; howthe whole earth is full of water and the cloudsand dew and rain rest upon it.1.1 These are the words of the blessing ofEnoch; according to which he blessed thechosen and righteous who must be present onthe day of distress, which is appointed, for theremoval of all the wicked and impious.1.2 And Enoch began his story and said: There was a righteous man whose eyes wereopened by the Lord, and he saw a Holy visionin the Heavens, which the Angels showed tome. And I heard everything from them, and Iunderstood what I saw: but not for thisgeneration, but for a distant generation thatwill come.1.3 Concerning the Chosen I spoke; and Iuttered a parable concerning them: The Holyand Great One will come out of his dwelling.1.4 And the Eternal God will tread from thereupon Mount Sinai, and he will appear with hisHost, and will appear in the strength of hispower from Heaven.1.5 And all will be afraid, and the Watcherswill shake, and fear and great trembling willseize them, up to the ends of the earth.1.6 And the high mountains will be shaken;and the high hills will be laid low and willmelt like wax in a flame.1.7 And the earth will sink, and everythingthat is on the earth will be destroyed, and therewill be judgment upon all, and upon all therighteous.1.8 But for the righteous: He will make peace, and He will keep safe the Chosen, and mercywill be upon them. They will all belong toGod, and will prosper and be blessed, and thelight of God will shine on them.1.9 And behold! He comes with ten thousandHoly Ones; to execute judgment upon themand to destroy the impious, and to contendwith all flesh concerning everything that thesinners and the impious have done andwrought against Him.3.1 Contemplate and see how all the treesappear withered and all their leaves arestripped - with the exception of the fourteentrees, which are not stripped, which remainwith the old leaves until the new come aftertwo or three years.4.1 And, again, contemplate the days ofsummer; how at its beginning the Sun is aboveit. You seek shelter and shade because of theheat of the Sun and the earth burns withscorching heat, and you cannot tread upon theearth or upon a rock, because of its heat.5.1 Contemplate how the trees are coveredwith green leaves and bear fruit.Andunderstand, in respect of everything, andperceive how He Who Lives Forever made allthese things for you.5.2 And how His works are before Him ineach succeeding year, and all His works serveHim and do not change; but as God hasdecreed - so everything is done.5.3 And consider how the seas and riverstogether complete their tasks.5

5.4 But you have not persevered in, norobserved, the Law of the Lord. But you havetransgressed and have spoken proud and hardwords with your uncleanmouth against his majesty. You hard of heart! You will not have peace!5.5 And because of this you will curse yourdays, and the years of your life you willdestroy. And the eternal curse will increaseand you will not receive mercy.5.6 In those days, you will transform yourname into an eternal curse to all the righteous. And they will curse you sinners forever.5.7 For the chosen; there will be light, joy, andpeace, and they will inherit the earth. But foryou, the impious, there will be a curse.5.8 When wisdom is given to the chosen theywill all live, and will not again do wrong, either through forgetfulness, or through pride. But those who possess wisdom will behumble.5.9 They will not again do wrong, and theywill not be judged in all the days oftheir life, and they will not die of wrath oranger. But they will complete the number ofthe days of their life. And their life will growin peace, and the years of their joy willincrease in gladness and eternal peace; all thedays of their life.6.1 And it came to pass, when the sons ofmen had increased, that in those days therewere born to them fair and beautiful daughters.6.2 And the Angels, the sons of Heaven, sawthem and desired them. And they said to oneanother: "Come, let us choose for ourselveswives, from the children of men, and let usbeget, for ourselves, children."6.3 And Semyaza, who was their leader, saidto them:"I fear that you may not wish this deed to bedone and that I alone will pay for this greatsin."6.4 And they all answered him, and said:"Let us all swear an oath, and bind oneanother with curses, so not to alter this plan, but to carry out this plan effectively."6.5 Then they all swore together and all boundone another with curses to it.6.6 And they were, in all, two hundred andthey came down on Ardis, which is thesummit of Mount Hermon. And they calledthe mountain Hermon because on it they swore5and bound one another with curses.6.7 And these are the names of their leaders:Semyaza, who was their leader, Urakiba(Araqiel) , Rameel, Kokabiel, Tamiel, Ramiel,Daniel, Ezeqiel, Baraqiel, Asael, Armaros,Batariel, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsiel, Satariel,Turiel, Yomiel, Sariel. (see Ch 8 & Ch 69)6.8 These are the leaders of the two hundredAngels and of all the others with them.7.1 And they took wives for themselves andeveryone chose for himself one each. Andthey began to go into them and werepromiscuous with them. And they taught themcharms and spells, and they showed them thecutting of roots and trees.7.2 And they became pregnant and bore largegiants. And their height was three thousandcubits.7.3 These devoured all the toil of men; untilmen were unable to sustain them.7.4 And the giants turned against them inorder to devour men.7.5 And they began to sin against birds, andagainst animals, and against reptiles, andagainst fish, and they devoured one another'sflesh, and drank the blood from it.7.6 Then the Earth complained about thelawless ones.8.1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and shields, and breastplates. And he showed them the things after these, and the art of making them; bracelets, andornaments, and the art of making up the eyes, and of beautifying the eyelids, and the mostprecious stones, and all kinds of coloureddyes. And the world was changed.8.2 And there was great impiety, and muchfornication, and they went astray, and all theirways became corrupt.8.3 Amezarak taught all those who cast spellsand cut roots, Armaros the release of spells, and Baraqiel astrologers, and Kokabielportents, and Tamiel taught astrology, andAsradel taught the path of the Moon.8.4 And at the destruction of men they criedout; and their voices reached Heaven.9.1 And then Michael, Gabriel, Suriel andUriel, looked down from Heaven and saw themass of blood that was being shed on the earthand all the iniquity that was being done on theearth.9.2 And they said to one another: "Let thedevastated Earth cry out with the sound oftheir cries, up to the Gate of Heaven.9.3 And now to you, Oh Holy Ones ofHeaven, the souls of men complain, saying:"Bring our complaint before the Most High."9.4 And they said to their Lord, the King:"Lord of Lords, God of Gods, King of Kings!Your glorious throne endures for all thegenerations of the world, and blessed andpraised!9.5 You have made everything, and powerover everything is yours. And everything isuncovered, and open, in front of you, and yousee everything, and there is nothing that can behidden from you.9.6 See then what Azazel has done; how hehas taught all iniquity on the earth andrevealed the eternal secrets that are made inHeaven.9.7 And Semyaza has made known spells, heto whom you gave authority to rule over thosewho are with him.9.8 And they went into the daughters of mentogether, lay with those women, becameunclean, and revealed to them these sins.9.9 And the women bore giants, and therebythe whole Earth has been filled with blood andiniquity.9.10 And now behold the souls which havedied cry out and complain unto the Gate ofHeaven, and their lament has ascended, andthey cannot go out in the face of the iniquitywhich is being committed on the earth.9.11 And you know everything, before ithappens, and you know this, and whatconcerns each of them. But you say nothing tous. What ought we to do with them, aboutthis?"10.1 And then the Most High, the Greatand Holy One, spoke and sent Arsyalalyur tothe son of Lamech, and said to him:10.2 "Say to him in my name; hide yourself! And reveal to him the end, which is coming, because the whole earth will be destroyed. Adeluge is about to come on all the earth; andall that is in it will be destroyed.10.3 And now teach him so that he may escapeand his offspring may survive for the wholeEarth."10.4 And further the Lord said to Raphael:"Bind Azazel by his hands and his feet andthrow him into the darkness. And split openthe desert, which is in Dudael, and throw himthere.10.5 And throw on him jagged and sharpstones and cover him with darkness. And lethim stay there forever. And cover his face sothat he may not see the light.10.6 And so that, on the Great Day ofJudgment, he may be hurled into the fire.10.7 And restore the Earth which the Angelshave ruined. And announce the restoration ofthe Earth. For I shall restore the Earth so thatnot all the sons of men shall be destroyedbecause of the knowledge which the Watchersmade known and taught to their sons.10.8 And the whole Earth has been ruined bythe teaching of the works of Azazel; andagainst him write: ALL SIN."10.9 And the Lord said to Gabriel: “Proceedagainst the bastards, and the reprobates, andagainst the sons of the fornicators. Anddestroy the sons of the fornicators, and thesons of the Watchers, from amongst men.And send them out, and send them against oneanother, and let them destroythemselves in battle; for they will not havelength of days.10.10 And they will petition you, but thepetitioners will gain nothing in respect ofthem, for they hope for eternal life, and thateach of them will live life for five hundredyears."10.11 And the Lord said to Michael: "Go,inform Semyaza, and the others with him, whohave associated with the women to corruptthemselves with them in all their uncleanness.10.12 When all their sons kill each other, andwhen they see the destruction of their lovedones, bind them for seventy generations, underthe hills of the earth, until the day of theirjudgment and of their consummation, until thejudgment, which is for all eternity, isaccomplished.10.13 And in those days, they will lead themto the Abyss of Fire; in torment, and in prisonthey will be shut up for all eternity.10.14 And then Semyaza will be burnt, andfrom then on destroyed with them; togetherthey will be bound until the end of allgenerations.10.15 And destroy all the souls of lust, and thesons of the Watchers, for they have wronged6

men.10.16 Destroy all wrong from the face of theEarth and every evil work will cease.10.17 And now all the righteous will behumble, and will live until they begetthousands. And all the days of their youth, and their sabbaths, they will fulfill in peace.10.18 And in those days the whole earth willbe tilled in righteousness and all of it will beplanted with trees; and it will be filled withblessing.10.19 And all the pleasant trees they will planton it and they will plant on it vines. And thevine that is planted on it will produce fruit inabundance; and every seed that is sown on it,each measure will produce a thousand, andeach measure of olives will produce ten bathsof oil.10.20 And you cleanse the Earth from allwrong, and from all iniquity, and from all sin,and from all impiety, and from all theuncleanness which is brought about on theearth.10.21 And all the sons of men shall berighteous, and all the nations shall serve andbless me and all shall worship me.10.22 And the Earth will be cleansed from allcorruption, and from all sin, and from allwrath, and from all torment; and I will notagain send a flood upon it, for all generations,forever.11.1 And in those days, I will open theStorehouses of Blessing, which are in Heaven,so that I may send them down upon the Earth, upon the work, and upon the toil, of the sonsof men.11.2 Peace and truth will be united, for all thedays of eternity, and for all the generations ofeternity.12.1 And then Enoch disappeared andnone of the sons of men knew where he washidden, where he was, or what had happened.12.2 And all his doings were with the HolyOnes, and with the Watchers, in his days.12.3 And I Enoch, was blessing the Great Lordand the King of Eternity. And behold, theWatchers called to me - Enoch the scribe - andsaid to me:12.4 "Enoch, scribe of righteousness. Go and7inform the Watchers of Heaven, who have leftthe High Heaven and the Holy Eternal Place, and have corrupted themselves with women, and have done as the sons of men do and havetaken wives for themselves, and have becomecompletely corrupt on the earth.12.5 They will have on Earth, neither peace, nor forgiveness of sin, for they will not rejoicein their sons.12.6 The slaughter of their beloved ones theywill see; and over the destruction of their sonsthey will lament and petition forever. But theywill have neither mercy nor peace.”13.1 And Enoch went and said to Azazel:"You will not have peace. A severe sentencehas come out against you that you should bebound.13.2 And you will have neither rest nor mercy, nor the granting of any petitions, because ofthe wrong which you have taught, and becauseof all the works of blasphemy and wrong andsin which you have shown to the sons of men."13.3 And then I went and spoke to them alltogether, and they were all afraid; fear andtrembling seized them.13.4 And they asked me to write out for themthe record of a petition, so that they mightreceive forgiveness, and to take a record oftheir petition up to the Lord in Heaven.13.5 For they were not able, from then on, tospeak, and they did not raise their eyes toHeaven, out of shame for the sins, for whichthey had been condemned.13.6 And then I wrote out the record of theirpetition, and their supplication in regard totheir spirits, and the deeds of each one ofthem, and in regard to what they asked; thatthey should obtain absolution and forbearance.13.7 And I went and sat down by the waters ofDan, in Dan, which is southwest of Hermon;and I read out the record of their petition, untilI fell asleep.13.8 And behold a dream came to me, andvisions fell upon me, and I saw a vision ofwrath; that I should speak to the sons ofHeaven and reprove them.13.9 And I woke up and went to them, andthey were all sitting gathered together as theymourned, in Ubelseyael, which is betweenLebanon and Senir, with their faces covered.13.10 And I spoke in front of them all; thevisions that I had seen in my sleep, and Ibegan to speak these words to reprove theWatchers of Heaven.14.1 This book is the word ofrighteousness, and of reproof, for the Watcherswho are from Eternity; as the Holy and GreatOne commanded in that vision.14.2 I saw in my sleep what I will now tell, with the tongue of flesh, and with my breath, which the Great One has given men in themouth, so that they might speak with it, andunderstand with the heart.14.3 As He has created, and appointed, men tounderstand the word of knowledge, so Hecreated and appointed me to reprove theWatchers, the sons of Heaven.14.4 And I wrote out your petition, but in myvision, thus it appeared, that your petitionwould not be granted to you, for all the days ofeternity; and complete judgment has beendecreed against you, and you will not havepeace.14.5 And from now on, you will not ascendinto Heaven, for all eternity, and it has beendecreed that you will be bound on Earth for allthe days of eternity.14.6 And before this, you will have seen thedestruction of your beloved sons, and you willnot be able to enjoy them, but they will fallbefore you by the sword.14.7 And your petition will not be granted inrespect of them or in respect of yourselves. And while you weep and supplicate you do notspeak a single word from the writings which Ihave written.14.8 And the vision appeared to me, asfollows: - Behold; clouds called me in thevision, and mist called me. And the path ofthe stars, and flashes of lightning, hastened meand drove me. And in the vision winds causedme to fly, and hastened me, and lifted me upinto the sky.14.9 And I proceeded until I came near a wallwhich was made of hailstones, and a tongue offire surrounded it, and it began to make meafraid.14.10 And I went into the tongue of fire andcame near to a large house, which was built ofhailstones, and the wall of that house was likea mosaic of hailstones and its floor was snow.14.11 Its roof was like the path of the stars andflashes of lightning, and among them was fierycherubim, and their sky was like water.14.12 And there was a fire burning around itswall and its door was ablaze with fire.14.13 And I went into that house, and it was ashot as fire and as cold as snow, and there wasneither pleasure nor life in it. Fear covered meand trembling took hold of me.14.14 And as I was shaking and trembling, Ifell on my face.14.15 And I saw in the vision, and behold, another house which was larger than theformer and all its doors were open before me,and it was built of a tongue of fire.14.16 And in everything, it so excelled inglory and splendor and size, so that I amunable to describe to you its glory and its size.14.17 And its floor was fire, and abovelightning and the path of the stars, and its roofalso was a burning fire.14.18 And I looked, and I saw in it, a highthrone, and its appearance was like ice, and itssurrounds like the shining Sun and the soundof cherubim.14.19 And from underneath the high thronethere flowed out rivers of fire so that it wasimpossible to look at it.14.20 And He who is Great in Glory sat uponit, and his raiment was brighter than the Sun,and whiter than any snow.14.21 And no Angel could enter, and at theappearance of the face of Him who isHonoured and Praised, no creature of fleshcould look.14.22 A sea of fire burnt around Him, and agreat fire stood in front of Him, and none ofthose around Him came near to Him. Tenthousand times ten thousand stood before Himbut He needed no Holy Council.14.23 And the Holy Ones who were near toHim did not leave by night or day and did notdepart from Him.14.24 And until then I had a covering on myface, as I trembled. And the Lord called mewith his own mouth, and said to me: "Comehere, Enoch, to my Holy Word."14.25 And He lifted me up and brought menear to the door. And I looked, with my facedown.15.1 And He answered me, and said to mewith His voice: "Hear! Do not be afraid,Enoch, you righteous man, and scribe ofrighteousness. Come here and hear my voice.15.2 And go say to the Watchers of Heaven,8

who sent you to petition on their behalf: Youought to petition on behalf of men, not men onbehalf of you.15.3 Why have you left the High, Holy andEternal Heaven, and lain with women, andbecome unclean with the daughters of men,and taken wives for yourselves, and done asthe sons of the earth, and begotten giant sons?15.4 And you were spiritual, Holy, living aneternal life, but you became unclean upon thewomen, and begot children through the bloodof flesh, and lusted after the blood of men, andproduced flesh and blood, as they do, who dieand are destroyed.15.5 And for this reason I give men wives; sothat they might sow seed in them, and so thatchildren might be born by them, so that deedsmight be done on the Earth.15.6 But you, formerly, were spiritual, livingan eternal, immortal life, for all thegenerations of the world.15.7 For this reason I did not arrange wives foryou; because the dwelling of the spiritual onesis in Heaven.15.8 And now, the giants who were born frombody and flesh will be called Evil Spirits onthe Earth, and on the Earth will be theirdwelling.15.9 And evil spirits came out from their flesh, because from above they were created, fromthe Holy Watchers was their origin and firstfoundation. Evil spirits they will be on Earthand ‘Spirits of the Evil Ones’ they will becalled.15.10 And the dwelling of the Spirits ofHeaven is Heaven, but the dwelling of thespirits of the Earth, who were born on theEarth, is Earth.15.11 And the spirits of the giants do wrong, are corrupt, attack, fight, break on the Earth, and cause sorrow. And they eat no food, donot thirst, and are not observed.15.12 And these spirits will rise against thesons of men, and against the women, becausethey came out of them during the days ofslaughter and destruction.16.1 And the death of the giants, whereverthe spirits have gone out from their bodies, their flesh will be destroyed, before theJudgment. Thus they will be destroyed untilthe Day of the Great Consummation isaccomplished, upon the Great Age, upon the9Watchers and the impious ones."16.2 And now to the Watchers, who sent youto petition on their behalf, who were formerlyin Heaven:16.3 "You were in Heaven but its secrets hadnot yet been revealed to you; and a worthlessmystery you knew. This you made known towomen, in the hardness of your hearts. Andthrough this mystery the women and the mencause evil to increase on the Earth."16.4 Say to them therefore: "You will not havepeace."17.1 And they took me to a place wherethey were like burning fire, and, when theywished, they made themselves look like men.17.2 And they led me to a place of storm, andto a mountain, the tip of whose summitreached to Heaven.17.3 And I saw lighted places, and thunder intheoutermostends, initsdepths a bow of fire, and arrows and theirquivers, and a sword of fire, and all the flashesof lightning.17.4 And they took me to the Water of Life, asit is called, and to the Fire of the West, whichreceives every setting of the Sun.17.5 And I came to a river of fire, whose fireflows like water, and pours out into the GreatSea, which is towards the west.17.6 And I saw all the great rivers, and Ireached the Great Darkness, and went whereall flesh walks.17.7 And I saw the Mountains of the Darknessof Winter and the place where the water of allthe deeps pours out.17.8 And I saw the mouths of all the rivers ofthe Earth, and the mouth of the deep.18.1 And I saw the storehouses of all thewinds, and I saw how with them He hasadorned all creation, and I saw the foundationsof the Earth.18.2 And I saw the cornerstone of the Earth. And I saw the four winds which support theEarth and the sky.18.3 And I saw how the winds stretch out theheight of Heaven, and how they positionthemselves between Heaven and Earth; theyare the Pillars of Heaven.18.4 And I saw the winds which turn the skyand cause the disc of the Sun and all the starsto set.18.5 And I saw the winds on the Earth whichsupport the clouds and I saw the paths of theAngels. I saw at the end of the Earth; thefirmament of Heaven above.18.6 And I went towards the south, and it wasburning day and night, where there were sevenmountains of precious stones, three towardsthe east and three towards the south.18.7 And those towards the east were ofcoloured stone, and one was of pearl, and oneof healing stone; and those towards the south,of red stone.18.8 And the middle one reached to Heaven, like the throne of the Lord, of stibium, and thetop of the throne was of sapphire.18.9 And I saw a burning fire, and what was inall the mountains.18.10 And I saw a place there, beyond thegreat earth; there the waters gathered together.18.11 And I saw a deep chasm of the earth, with pillars of heavenly fire, and I saw amongthem fiery pillars of Heaven, which werefalling, and as regards both height and depth, they were immeasurable.18.12 And beyond this chasm, I saw a place, and it had neither the sky above it, nor thefoundation of earth below it; there was nowater on it, and no birds, but it was a desertplace.18.13 And a terrible thing I saw there, sevenstars, like great burning mountains.18.14 And like a spirit questioning me, theAngel said: “This is the place of the end ofHeaven and Earth; this is the prison for theStars of Heaven and the Host of Heaven.18.15 And the stars which roll over the fire, these are the ones which transgressed thecommand of the Lord, from the beginning oftheir rising, because they did not come out attheir proper times.18.16 And He was angry with them, andbound them until the time of theconsummation of their sin, in the Year ofMystery.”19.1 And Uriel said to me: “The spirits ofthe Angels who were promiscuous withwomen will stand here; and they, assumingmany forms, made men unclean and will leadmen astray so that they sacrifice to demons asgods. And they will stand there until the greatjudgment day, on which they will be judged,so that an end will be made of them.19.2 And their wives, having led astray theAngels of Heaven, will become peaceful.”19.3 And I, Enoch, alone saw the sight, theends of everything; and no man has seen whatI have seen.20.1 And these are the names of the HolyAngels who keep watch.20.2 Uriel, one of the Holy Angels; namely theHoly Angel of the Spirits of Men.20.4 Raguel, one of the Holy Angels; whotakes vengeance on the world, and on thelights.20.5 Michael, one of the Holy Angels, namelythe one put in charge of the best part ofhumankind, in charge of the nation.20.6 Saraqael, one of the Holy Angels; who isin charge of the spirits of men who cause thespirits to sin.20.7 Gabrie

The Book of Enoch (also 1Enoch) is an ancient Jewish religious work, ascribed to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. It is not regarded as scripture by Jews or any Christian group, apart from the Ethiopian Ortho
