Instead of paperto write on they used skins of animals and other materials.Sometimes they used brass or gold plates, and cut the writinginto the plates with a sharp knife or other tool.Lehi sent his four sons back to Jerusalem to get theseman who was taking care of them.and Lemuel were told that they must gothey again complained and found fault with their father butwhen Nephi was spoken to about going he was very willingLaman and Lemuel thoughtto do so and did not complain.it was very hard for them to go back on such an errand, butNephi said he knew the Lord would not want them to doanything they were not able to and he believed the Lordwould watch over them while on their journey. How muchbetter it would have been for them all to be obedient likeNephi was will be seen from the following stories. So Nephiand his other brothers took their tents and started on theirplates fromLaban, theWhen Laman;;journey.Whenthey reached the city of Jerusalem they decidedamong themselvesthatLaman, the older one of theshould go to Laban's house and ask for the plates.right that theirfather should have the plates,Itfour, wasor the Lordwould not have told him to send for them. He persuaded his brothers to stay with him, and
