Overview of the SATThe SAT is a college and university admission test that’s accepted at all U.S. colleges and recognizedall over the world. Understanding SAT ScoresThe SAT reports a total score, section scores, test scores, cross-test scores, and subscores. Accommodationsare available for approved students on all College Board tests. In general,students approved by SSD for College Board testing accommodations meetthe criteria listed below:§§ Student has a documented disability.§§ Participation in a College Board assessment is impacted.§§ Requested accommodation is needed.§§ Accommodation is received on school tests.The approval process:§§ The school receives signed consent from the parent/guardian or student(if the student is 18 years or older).§§ The SSD coordinator submits a request for accommodations throughSSD Online.THE SAT SUITE OFASSESSMENTSThe SAT Suite reflects what studentsare already learning in their classroomsand gives you benchmarks for assessingstudents’ progress as they enter andmove through high school. The testsshare a common score scale, making iteasier to measure growth over time.PSAT 8/9 sets readiness baseline.PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 10 allowcheck-in on student progress.SAT connects students to college.Learn more at satsuite.org.SAT SUBJECT TESTS:HELP STUDENTSSPOTLIGHT THEIR SKILLSSAT Subject Tests are required orrecommended by select colleges anduniversities. They let your studentsshow their academic strengthsand get an edge in admission.SAT Subject Tests are:§§ Hour-long university admissiontests based on high school/uppersecondary school coursework.§§ 20 tests offered across 5 subjectareas: mathematics, languages,science, history, and English.Students can use them to:§§ Fulfill college or universityrequirements; many schoolsrequire or recommend the tests.§§ Stand out on applications.§§ Show their strengths inparticular areas.Learn more at satsubjecttests.org.§§ Once submitted, SSD Online will display a message as to whetheradditional documentation must be submitted.§§ If required, the SSD coordinator submits the necessary documentation.§§ The student and SSD coordinator are notified once a decision is made.It is important to plan ahead, as it can take 7 weeks to processa request. Fee WaiversFee waivers give low-income students a great opportunity to show colleges they’re interested in highereducation by taking the SAT or SAT Subject Tests. An eligible student can take advantage of the followingservices for free or at a reduced rate:§§ Up to 2 registrations for the SAT with or without the Essay and up to 2 registrations for the SATSubject Tests—up to 3 SAT Subject Tests on one test day ( 96 maximum value).§§ 2 Question-and-Answer Service (QAS) or Student Answer Service (SAS) reports.
