There arefourteen translations in print,two translations in electronicformat only, and eighttranslations in progress. Inaddition, three revisions oftranslations are under way.The translators and reviserswork diligently, and everyoneat Urantia Foundation isgrateful for the efforts andservice of these remarkableindividuals!In 2013, Urantia Foundationestablished policies andprocedures to achieve itsgoal of producing the highestquality translations. Toimplement these policies andprocedures, translationsoftware was necessary. In2015, Jay Peregrine, retiredexecutive director nowworking with the TranslationCommittee, investigated adozen software programs. Heconcluded that Déjà Vu wasthe software program bestsuited for translations andrevisions of The Urantia Book.Déjà Vu provides 1) superiorproject management,2) helpful translation tools,and 3) effective ways toensure a consistent use ofterms. In addition, theprogram can confirm if atranslation is complete whencompared to the English text.The first step with Déjà Vuwas creating exhaustive listsof English terms found in TheUrantia Book requiringtranslation into all targetlanguages. Ancient Egyptian andAcadian Names. There are39 such terms found in TheUrantia Book. Ancient Roman Namesand Places. There are 39terms found in The UrantiaBook. There are 89 termsfound in The Urantia Book.Example: Agni—the Rig VedicIn addition, the meaning(when possible), the Greekname (when necessary),references from the Bibleand The Urantia Book, and areference to another sourceare included: wikipedia.org/wiki/Agni.These term lists arenecessary for translators andexcellent study tools forscholars and students of TheUrantia Book. These liststotal 1,351 terms. When thetranslation of these lists arecomplete and uploaded toDéjà Vu, translators andrevisers will no longer have toworry about these termsbecause they willautomatically “pop up” whenthe translator is working inthe software system. Thisassures the consistent use ofterms throughout the entiretext.To date, the term lists havebeen completed anduploaded to Déjà Vu for theFrench translation and forthe Chinese translation insimplified format.Translations in Progress Chinese Translation―Simplified FormatThe translation has beencompleted through Paper 95.The revision of the Chineseterm lists and the uploadingof the translated papers toDéjà Vu required the majorityof the translator’s time overthe past few months.Déjà Vu Translation Software Program Screenshot

So farthey have revised theForeword and Paper 1through Paper 170. Theyhope to finish by the end of2017.Jean has a library consistingof his translation and abouttwo hundred secondary worksand other printed materialsrelated to The Urantia Book.Under agreement with theDanish Royal Library, thiscollection will be saved andmade available for futuregenerations.The Little Mermaidby Edvard EriksenLangelinie Promenade,Copenhagen, Denmarkwould bring this life-changingbook to the Farsi-speakingpeople around the world.“So far I have translatedabout 63% of the book. Urantia Foundation's News Online Russian RevisionThe Foreword and Papers 1through 72 have beenofficially signed off on.Itsukushima ShrineHatsukaichi, HiroshimaPrefecture, Japansupport, and an offer toincrease that support hasbeen recently made.Hagiko began her work in2001, and it took ten yearsto produce the first draft.Then she took a break fromthe work, began a revision afew years ago, and has in thelast several months shiftedinto high gear to complete it.After this month, only Part IVwill remain for her to do.After this revision, there willremain one more significanttask: to establishterminological consistency inthe translation of theapproximately one thousandkey terms. Portuguese RevisionThe chief reviser, SusanaHüttner, has finished Paper120.Upcoming TranslationsSaulo Fraga is working onPaper 112.The reader focus group iscommenting on Paper 72.In September of 2015,Anton Miroshnichenko ofUkraine approached UrantiaFoundation requesting to bea member of the translationteam. More detailsconcerning theestablishment of this teamare being worked out, andthe next step will be thecompletion of the list ofterms. Spanish RevisionRevisions of TranslationsHelder Cherubin is workingon Paper 73.This revision team consists ofMichael Hanian, the chieftranslator, and AndreyReznikov, the chief editor. Animmense contribution to therevision project was made byLudmila Pavlova, whosupplied hundreds of pagesof comments, suggestions,and in-depth analysis of thetext. The revision is currentlyapproaching theproofreading stage. TheFoundation will do its best inhelping Michael and his teamcreate the highest qualitytranslation possible.brother Andrey. The Foundationhosted a booth at BookExpoAmerica, the Chinesetranslation was evaluated,the basement was partiallyremodeled to accommodatea library pertinent to TheUrantia Book, the ScienceSymposium was held at 533with live video streaming, afinancial book analysis wascompleted, the annual reportwas published, the Frenchtranslation and the Polishtranslation were reformatted,the revision of the Koreantranslation was formattedelectronically, distribution ofthe Lithuanian translationrecommenced, continuedprogress was made on theindex, and normal day-to-dayduties were conducted.Special thanks go to Joanne,Tamara, and Ashley foroutstanding performancesduring this last quarter. Asalways, we thank trustees,associate trustees,volunteers, committeemembers, and specialproject teams for doing somuch work.The Summer conference inSan Antonio was a new highwater mark in communitybuilding since the difficultiesof the late 1980s. UrantiaAssociation International(UAI), Urantia AssociationUnited States (UAUS), TheUrantia Book Fellowship, andUrantia Foundation cametogether in a jointconference for the first timein decades. The overallquality of the presentationswas excellent, but what ismore important, the socialinteractions were friendlyand cooperative.Over the last several monthswe have conducted adetailed cost analysis ofevery book the Foundationsells. These costs includeformatting, printing,shipping, storage, distributordiscounts, and returns. Weran the math on hardcoverbooks, paperbacks, leatherbooks, audio books, andeBooks. Simply put, virtuallyall printed books lose moneyworldwide, including in theUnited States. There issimply not enough volume ormargins to make moneyselling Urantia Books. TheFoundation is engaged in atruly non-profit venture!Here are some specifics theanalysis highlighted: 1) TheEnglish text of The UrantiaBook books makes moneyonly because of the profit oneBooks and audio books. Allprinted copies of the Englishtext lose a small amount ofmoney, and we cannot raiseprices because ofcompetitive pricing fromanother publisher. It isdifficult to justify the sellingof the English text of TheUrantia Book to wealthyNorth Americans onAmazon.com for 13 whilehearing stories of people inThe presidents of theFellowship, UAI, andFoundation continue theirquarterly meetings. They arecommitted to buildingbridges of cooperation andtrust between all UrantiaBook organizations andindividuals working to fosterthese teachings in the world.3. BookExpo AmericaUrantia Foundation had abooth at BookExpo America,the largest book show inNorth America. It was awonderful experiencebecause Urantia Pressdebuted The Parables ofJesus―Complete Teachingsfrom The Urantia Book. Itsreception was of wholehearted support because itallows our distributors toreintroduce The UrantiaBook to bookstores. It isextremely difficult to keep abook published in 1955 onthe bookstore shelf in 2016.We are hopeful that thisbook will bring renewedinterest in The Urantia Bookthis fall and winter.4. Sincedownloads in all languagessignificantly surpass physicalbook sales, starting on theInternet may be the way tolaunch new translations inthe future.The good news: At the end ofthe first half of the year,year-to-date expenses were 49,165 below budget and 539.57 less than the prioryear. The bad news:Donations are below lastyear. In the first half of 2015we received two large, onetime gifts totaling 200,000.In 2016 no such gifts havebeen given. Taking those twogifts out of the calculation,we are still 45,000 lessthan last year. We have a lotof work to do in order tobreak even in 2016! After asplendid 2015, it is soberingto have such a tough startthis year.
